    Touch that wood how ever times you wish, it's your woodyard. Cool tarp setup. Keep cuttin' Sam!

    I made a similar tarp door on my barn, but I used a third rope and pulley in the middle. Used it this way for 5 years before I built permanent sliding doors. Nice job Sam!

      Thank you! I'm definitely adding a 3rs rope and pulley like you did. It's very effective 🤠👍

    Well done Sam. You keep on doing you and ignore the negativity from the mupetts. It takes time to reach your goals and you are surely on the way. As you grow your finances grow and your dreams will be realised.

    I like this idea Sam. This is going to make this winter so much better for you. I know on camera it seems dark in the barn but in person you can probably see just fine. Another good thing is air flow is not cut off 100% so using your log splitter should not be a problem. I am sure the barn also has natural ventilation too. I don’t know how you come up with your ideas but thanks for sharing them with us.😁👍🚜💨☀️

      Thank you! The barn is definitely not air-tight by a long shot. I would like to get a wood burning stove to put in there. New roof, siding, insulation, plywood ceiling and walls. Big plans! 🤠👍

    Having had a Shelter Logic with that same rope opening system I suggest getting another pulley for the side you pull the ropes. Lace the ropes through their own pulley and they will open and close more evenly. As another suggested, adding the 3rd rope in the middle tied off on the outside then run under the tarp and up to yet another set of pulleys really worked well on my Shelter Logic. I know more money lol. Good job, your getting there.

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  Місяць тому

      Thank you for the suggestions! The pulleys were pretty inexpensive. I like your idea. Thanks again 🤠👍

    interesting design. The only suggestion I have is to make sure the folds of the tarp facing to the outside fall in a way not to allow wind driven rain to collect in them or the whole curtain will collect a lot of water and weight during a rain storm.

    Nice and cheap, but functional. It may be useful to put a middle rope secured to the bottom to pull it up and take pressure off of the bottom pole at the joint.

    Sam, You could consider a man door next to the garage door. I have found used prehung doors for under $50.00 or less. The benefit to the man door is not having to leave the tarp up. Happy Birthday

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  Місяць тому

      Thank you! A man door is absolutely in the long term plans. New roof, siding, plywood ceiling and walls, insulation etc. And top it all off with a wood burner for heat. 🤠👍

    • @robertrhodes9123
      @robertrhodes9123 Місяць тому

      Good enough for temporary. Tarp should last for quite a while hanging vertical versus horizontal that would get sun & storm beating the crap out of it. A closed in workshop will be dandy !!👍👍🍻🍻

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  Місяць тому

      @robertrhodes9123 Thank you! I like the simplicity of it. It definitely should last long enough. Keeping it rolled up when I'm not down there will help preserve it too 🤠👍

      @@samsdoinstuff It sounds like you have a plan. I turned seventy on November 16th. Most of my projects are complete. Nowadays, I go to my shop and tinker with projects. I am somewhat retired. I turned my auto repair business over to my wife and two sons. Looking back at all those years, I realize there are two things I would have done differently. Number one, I would have purchased my Kobota years ago. Second, I would have transitioned out of the family business years ago.

    Good morning Sam. Hope you and your family are doing well. Nice idea for a cheap garage door. That will be nice when you get things set up for your workshop. I imagine you will have a woodstove cranking keeping it toasty. You're getting there buddy. Thanks for another video of you doin stuff.

    Barns are supposed to have barn doors. 😅

      @samsdoinstuff  Місяць тому

      We do get some pretty strong winds around here. I intend to leave it open when I'm not down there working and that should help. If I unfortunately leave it down, and we get wind like that, you're probably right. I'll have to be diligent 🤠👍

    That will keep the weather off you this year. I thought you were going to make a slider tarp barn door. Out of conduit, with a top conduit rail as a runner. I just did the math it would be a $350 door. It could also be two doors that open opposing as well with two extra pulleys

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you! That's a very good design. Like you said, a little more expensive, but it would be slick 👌 🤠👍

    I get being on a budget but when the wind hits the tarp the sound gets obnoxious over time. Plus the sun is going to ruin the tarp over time.

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  Місяць тому +1

      I agree. It's definitely a temporary solution till I can afford a real garage door 🤠👍

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  Місяць тому +1

  • @Dan-oz4qb
    @Dan-oz4qb Місяць тому

    Not horrible but that tarp isn't going to last very long. Probably would have been better to put the $100 towards some lumber to build a set of sliders or even spend the money for an overhead garage door.

    • @samsdoinstuff
      @samsdoinstuff  Місяць тому +1

      @Dan-oz4qb You're probably right. I intend to leave it up when im not working in the barn. I can't do a slider and overhead roll up doors are crazy expensive. I'm leaning towards some huge "shed style" double doors. If the tarp lasts the winter, I'll be happy. The rest of the hardware will get repurposed somewhere 🤠👍
