😇 Do you find the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception confusing or misunderstood? Let's talk about it!

25:30 Just an additional point of clarity, the Sundays of Advent (and pretty much all Sundays outside of Ordinary Time) take precedence. If the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the BVM happened to fall on a Sunday in Ordinary Time, then it would probably have been celebrated that Sunday.

20:02 "Did God NEED Mary to be sinless in order for Jesus to come into the world?" As the Mother of God, I believe yes, her sinlessness was a necessary condition for her to fully cooperate with God's plan of salvation. Because she was "full of grace" (kecharitomene), it meant she had greater clarity of God's will and enabled her to participate completely in His salvific plan in which she played a significant role (rf. CCC 506). It's more than her being a vessel, an ark, a pure "package", although those are analogies of her as the Mother of God. Mary's lifelong extraordinary obedience was a result of the purity she had from her immaculate conception.
