Wow, so many mean people. He took the time to make this video and edit and post it on UA-cam, so that anyone wanting to do the same can see what works for him. I can't see myself going to that much effort. The fact that it wasn't 100% perfectly filmed, or the commentary was a little rambling, he still showed the whole process, the good and the bad, nothing hidden. Most people on UA-cam are not professionals and they do the best they can, with what they have. Thank you so much for this video. Your personal comments were sweet about the puzzle, and seeing the whole process from start to finish has made me think twice about using this method for my 3000 piece puzzle, since I don't intend to put it in a frame afterwards.
Thank. you so much! Very helpful information. Just what I needed. I especially appreciate the tip to apply a final layer of Mod Podge around the edges of puzzle and in one direction. I've watched several video clips on glueing completed puzzles and these two tips were several that were new to me. Appreciate that you took the time to share them!
I enjoyed this video. The two things I did differently a) used a craft board as it was of correct dimensions and 2) I taped the aluminum together as well as both pieces of waxed paper. I enjoyed the idea that you can take off extra glue with your finger or paper with a dab of water on it. Well done.
Thank You.........did one before w/ these directions, and it turned out great :) Now, the "Boss" thinks it's time to do two more - so glad I found this again - lol
What I do is use two large poster board taped together and use the mod pudge with an old credit card. I don’t care if the boards gets messy one cost a dollar. Never thought to do the back! Appreciate the video.
This procedure worked great on my puzzle. Only change I made is I added frog tape to hold down the foil/wax paper so puzzle would slide on my table. I was very pleased with this video. Thanks.
Omg 😱 People are just so negative! I really liked the calm and firmly instructions 😍 You don't have to gas your puzzle or spray it or set it on fire. Kids can do this with there parents, nice and easy. Loved the video 😊❤ Kind regards from Denmark 🇩🇰
:-) LOL I read your comment about "calm" and wondered "What the heck is she talking about?? That wasn't calm!". And then I discovered that I was watching it at 1.5x speed! !! LOL! BTW yes, terrific video!
Omg thank you so much for sharing this because I had mod podge matte so now I’m going to purchase glossy. 😊 I put adhesive sheets on the back of my puzzle and it’s holding pretty good but I’ll get to the front with that mod Podge
You people (for the most part) are mean! I am glad you showed me the details because I have a puzzle that I want to do this with and it’s the first time for me. Thank You!
Tip: When you're sliding the foil under the puzzle, tape the far edge of the foil in place after it's started so it won't bind up on you, and just work the puzzle over the rest of the foil.
Thanks going to attempt this with my husband, we love doing puzzles together! Only question I have is what if I use matte mod podge will it ruin the front of the puzzle. I saw you used gloss so very curious. By the way, I don't think it was slow at all!!? You did it step by step and showed us without just doing it and adding a few words in thank you!
Matte won’t ruin it. It’ll just give it a Matte appearance, which is dull and not shiny. Matte is a very good option if you hang the puzzle in an area where sunlight could shine on it and cause a glare.
Slide the wax paper under first then you can use that to slide it and the puzzle on top of the foil. You only have to fiddle with getting one layer past the puzzle pieces
better off to use a card and spread the glue around with the card, then once its dry get mod podge acrylic gloss spray and simply give it a coat of that. You wont see ANY brush strokes this way and the spray ensures perfect even coat
i bought foam boards from dollarama so i can flip the puzzles with ease. when going to glue, i just flip it upside down, sandwiched between the boards. then lift board that was coverig the bottom, place wax paper, put foam board back on and flip it back over!
That so cool, I’m gonna do that soon once I get mod podge, but quick question what do you do once u glue the puzzle, did you frame them or u just let it be in somewhere else safe?
Wax paper first and then just sliding the wax paper with the puzzle over the foil is faster if using both. Vs trying to get the wax between the puzzle and foil
After I apply a first coat it doesn’t take that long to dry.. after ten minutes you can unstick the curtain from the puzzle if you want. I’ve used wax paper, foil, and other things and this seems to work the best. Wax paper would be my second choice.
I think it might have been easier when you flip the puzzle over to flip it on new paper so it didn't have such a sticking effect because the end trimming was a disaster ... but thanks for the video
Mod Podge bottle says it will take 4 weeks for this to completely cure. Does anyone have any experience with that or opinions about that? Does it really take 4 weeks for this? That is a long long time.
I just did this. Looked like I ruined my puzzle. Thank God I did it first on a puzzle I don’t care as much about. Now that it’s dry, it looks pretty good. Not thrilled about the brush strokes but whatever.
How did you find a frame for this puzzle? I just finished a Thomas kinkade beauty and the beast puzzle and it’s just a tad bit longer then the frame. Do you trim the puzzle or buy a bigger frame?
I think when I did this I trimmed the puzzle just a little bit with an xacto knife, but you could also get a bigger frame and just have a border around the puzzle.
If I spent a tremendous amount a time on a building a puzzle, I'd certainly spend the money and have it mounted and framed. We just did The Apocalypse Horses and spent 160 hours assembling. Well worth having it dry mounted and framed. Years ago while remodeling a kitchen the homeowners were puzzle building enthusiast and they had an entire wall in their basement covered with puzzles. It was pretty impressive.
It is best to soak the puzzle in gas after gluing. The chemical reaction seals it better. Then if your using a frame you want to get a frame that is 1/8" smaller. The chemical reaction with the gas will shrink the puzzle, making the seal tighter, and with it shrinking you put the puzzle in the 1/8" smaller frame. Here is the important part, your gonna wanna face your puzzle on the North side and with the gas still wet and the puzzle in the frame your gonna wanna drop a match on that bad boy. The match will make the puzzle heat up some. It will expand to the frame and get stuck. You will need a match, a finished puzzle: that required extensive man hours to complete, about a gallon of Unleaded Gas, a blanket to signal your wife thay you are doing fine, a compass, a video camera, a male African elephant in musk, some marshmallows, and finally some aluminum foil for security.
love the humor but if you look up The Puzzle Warehouse in Kirkwood Missouri they have a 24,000 piece puzzle mounted on the wall and they sell 40,000 piece puzzles at least once a week
@ @@coffeebeann1 I recommend that you get actual puzzle glue (not this stuff) with an applicator or just use an old credit card to spread the puzzle glue. This stuff ruined three puzzles (I did 3 at once) & left my edges horrible like his in the video. Ugh.
Sometimes it's just not worth the effort AFTER making a beautiful fun puzzle. I'm now going to take my puzzle out of the rolled-up-on-a-tube and disassemble it back to the box, tape the box, and donate the puzzle. ta daaaahhh.
I just ruined a really cool looking puzzle by doing that. Spray glue does not go on evenly and pieces started coming off after I hung it up. Better to use mod or elmers glue
I give up after 1:30 minutes , this is ridiculous lol. I probably could have learned this already on another video. This is crazy. this isnt a how to video its a rambling video with seemingly no end
Joyce Meeks it’s literally only 4-10 bucks for a tub of modge poge that size....and I doubt he even used all of it, it goes a long way. I don’t know that I’d call that “very costly”. It’s kind of the same thing as watered down Elmer’s glue. You could do that and get the same result.

Thank you soooo much, I followed your tutorial and ended up very happy with my framed puzzle.

❤❤❤Thank You So Much .. nice 👍🏾 Easy Very Simple instructions just what I was Looking For🙏🏾

Thank you. First time ever saving a puzzle.
Thank you! I am about to do this to 3 1000 piece puzzles. Wish me luck!
Update: I completed 4 1000 piece puzzles in two months 😆
Slide the wax paper under first then you can use that to slide it and the puzzle on top of the foil. You only have to fiddle with getting one layer past the puzzle pieces
Thanks man. Eased my mind before going in.
better off to use a card and spread the glue around with the card, then once its dry get mod podge acrylic gloss spray and simply give it a coat of that. You wont see ANY brush strokes this way and the spray ensures perfect even coat
what kind of card? playing card? credit card? greeting card? birthday card? bingo card? yeah I got carried away there.
So you do the foil first and then slide the paper under again. Does that mean the wax paper is on the botttom or the foil on the bottom
Thank you Wolfgang, enjoyed the voice as well as easy to follow instructions.
Kool and the scratching was awesome too lol
i bought foam boards from dollarama so i can flip the puzzles with ease. when going to glue, i just flip it upside down, sandwiched between the boards. then lift board that was coverig the bottom, place wax paper, put foam board back on and flip it back over!
I watch this every time I modge podge a puzzle.
Perfect! Thanks for the tutorial 👍 Was exactly what I was looking for
this is literally the exact puzzle i want to seal!
Ahhh the glue goes on the _puzzle._ Now I get it. You're a life-saver.
mod podge is water-soluble so you can soak your brush with water first and it makes the clean up easier.
That so cool, I’m gonna do that soon once I get mod podge, but quick question what do you do once u glue the puzzle, did you frame them or u just let it be in somewhere else safe?
Thank you for your time,,,kindness is key,,
So is the puzzle sitting on wax paper or the foil
Wax paper first and then just sliding the wax paper with the puzzle over the foil is faster if using both. Vs trying to get the wax between the puzzle and foil
This really helped
Cheers mate.
Thanks! Exactly what i was looking for.
Be so much easier if you just take the two sheets and tape them then slide it under... that’s what I’ve been doing
What i do is get cardboard from dollar general and do my puzzle on there so i wont destroy it then i modge podge it and let it dry overnight
will it attach to the cardboard becoming one piece?
I just did this puzzle about a month ago. It was really hard with all the different colors.
Thank You. That is very helpful
Thanks Wolfgang, that was very instructive to me. I liked the rithm, the description you made! I feel now to prepared to do mine.
Will you still be able to see the lines from the puzzle pieces
Beautiful job!!
How long do you have to wait till the mod podge dries to mod podge the back of the puzzle
Hey how much time went past when you made your first mod podge layer on the front?
Buy a cheap clear shower curtain and cut out a size larger than the puzzle. No extra time spent picking paper off of the edges. Also reusable
It wont stick to the shower curtain?
After I apply a first coat it doesn’t take that long to dry.. after ten minutes you can unstick the curtain from the puzzle if you want. I’ve used wax paper, foil, and other things and this seems to work the best. Wax paper would be my second choice.
Typically how long between coats should one wait?
20 minutes.
Thanks. Helpful.
So do you cover the puzzle twice with hog pog
Thank you! Just what I needed.👍👍
I have Mod Podge in spray can form. Can I use that?
I would have glued a thin foam board to the back it mounts better in a frame
Thanks. Spray glue / poster board easier!
Nice video.
Great tutorial!! Thank you.
Thank you! I appreciate your video. Helped alot!
so first thing put on wax paper before play with puzzle?
There is a Mod Podge Pizzle glue. Have u used that? Any difference?
I think it might have been easier when you flip the puzzle over to flip it on new paper so it didn't have such a sticking effect because the end trimming was a disaster ... but thanks for the video
I bet they have a good relationship. Not everything is about speed and efficiency.
wink* wink*

how long does the mod padge take to dry?
very nice work
Same question... How long before it's safe to flip over and do the back?
@@ajtoober at least 24 hrs
The bottle info says 30 days to completely cure!

I use Elmer's glue and it turns out just the same.
What you could do is tape the wax paper to the tin foil then slide the puzzle over it
Beautiful.
It is best to soak the puzzle in gas after gluing. The chemical reaction seals it better. Then if your using a frame you want to get a frame that is 1/8" smaller. LOL! awesome reply!
Thank you for helping me
The only thing I can say is, you did not have to worry about ruining that table lol.
I use Elmer's glue to glue my puzzle
Amiee Lopez dose it work??
Amiee Lopez ?????
You said it is the shiny one
So the puzzle is sitting on the wax paper.
Why can't you just glue a piece of paper or cardboard over the back and not put the mod podge over the picture.
Bambi and thumper . Lol gotcha. 😝
Exactly, Dennis Hill -- if you can't explain something this simple in 5 minutes, you can't expect many people to watch it...
How do I keep from having brush marks?
Grace Esters I use an old credit card to spread the glue instead of a brush
20 minutes to explain a 5 minute process.
Dennis Hill 😂😂😂 indeed
Hey, can u tell me how much of that glue will I need to mod 13200 puzzles? I can't find it anywhere in the net. Maybe u can calculate it somehow?
love the humor but if you look up The Puzzle Warehouse in Kirkwood Missouri they have a 24,000 piece puzzle mounted on the wall and they sell 40,000 piece puzzles at least once a week
I should have watched your video BEFORE I used Mod Podge on my puzzle. This stuff is absolutely HORRIBLE. :(
So I should get the glossy one...?

Yeah...foil was a BAD idea!!
👍❤
A coordenação motora do cara pra colocar o papel alumínio embaixo do quebra cabe e de uma criança com 3 anos pqp kkk
You did a Bambi puzzle. And then hung it in your bedroom. And told people.
LOL
😂
The best way to glue a puzzle is to turn it upside down and spray it
with SPRAY GLUE. Then you glue a thick paper on it and it's ready!
I’ve never tried that before. But that sounds like another good option!
Tin Foil ASMR Mmmmmmm
thank you.
15 minutes in and still haven’t seen how to do it, geesh
All these extra steps are so unnecessary
That's sure is a lot of MOD POGE you're using.
Its very costly.

@@arielkai5010 I'd stick to good old Elmers glue, Thank You :-o
Wow, we know what you are doing from the title. Yet, you tell us ten more times.
omg how boring and dragged out
20 minutes... is way too long. didn't view.
Ugh way to slow.....had to fast forward thru most of it
