another top podcast and i think its good for fans to see there's a lot more to football than people think. i never played past reserve team football but even as a YTS once it became a job and a living youre fighting for its a completely different animal. i live and breathe watching football but can't even be arsed to play any more i fell out of love with it. refreshing to see real players go through those types of experiences and know im not alone
The stories are funny and as someone to have a beer with he’d be great, but total lack of self awareness is unbelievable. Wants to be treated with respect, like a man, yet treated the clubs who paid him, fans who supported him and the whole profession with zero respect and just took the piss out it. Good stories tho.
Lineker was professional and had a proper career but what a goal hanging non team playing boring c8nt I would rather be in the company of Peter than Gary any day imho
Love the anecdotes about Baz Conlon! If you guys could get hold of him that would be a Cosh to end all Coshes! You could probably chat to him for 6 hours and you won’t even have scratched the surface. I know a lad who was at Bradford City at the time who saw the fall out first hand for the incident that led to Baz ending up at Grimsby. Turning up for training still pissed out of his head, straight from a train from Leeds after a night out with Matt Clarke. Please, please, please track him down and get him on!
Seems like a top bloke, but if your going out on the piss all the time & cant be professional as a footballer then it cant really come as a shock when managers dont want you in the team.
Top bloke? An absolute joke of a person. Part of one of the worst Grimsby sides of all time and a drink culture that led to our relegation to the National League . He should be ashamed of himself but obviously isn't.
"I was one of the best players there" Peter, you were in a team with Jermaine Beckford, Fabian Delph, Luciano Becchio and Robert Snodgrass. You played 9 games for Leeds, most as a substitute, and you were training with the kids. You were one of the worst players I've ever seen play for Leeds and I've seen some real garbage. This guy is an absolute muppet 🤣🤣🤣
Im a millwall fan and I didn’t even really like sweeney to be fair but nothing to do with football ability his attitude was shit like he’s boldly stated and regretted. but I’m pretty sure he’s not a muppet, I’m also pretty sure you wouldn’t call him a muppet to his face 😂!!
Never heard him say about his loan at Yeovil which he hated in the championship couldn’t even find some where to have breakfast ! He should of could of been an elite player on the pitch as same as off it Top Top guy
Parky - just a heads up, but pollen doesn't just go up your nose, but you can breath it in through your mouth and even your eyes. Tissue up the nose wont completely stop it. Anyway on with the show 🙂
Never heard of Peter sweeney? Woowwww proper baller.. all left leg.. patkin for England! Just started a season with Wrexham on fm14... trying to sign parkin from Fleetwood
Shame about Peters attitude towards his time at grimsby, we knew the culture that was happening at the time, really good player when he wanted to be, just wasn't arsed. At least he acknowledges it a little now, I wish him well in his retirement.
Quick word with our sponsors,.................................................................10 mins later, we get the part we click on for, can't you just get a dr squatch soap ad and get on with it, I love the interviews, superb but the bullshit at the starts annoying
We had just beaten West Ham 4-1 and we was 3rd in the league then after beating Sunderland in the Fa Cup Semi. We only won 1 (which was last game of the season) in the last 8 games and ended up 4 points of the playoffs we should have got promoted that season
Not a Millwall fan, but I remember the team you had back then (03-04 was it?). Lucas Neil, Matt Lawrence, a young Marvin Elliott, Steven Reid, Tim Cahill, Neil Harris, Darren Ward (who played for my club), Paul Ifill, David Livermore, Kevin Muscat (most aggressive player I've seen, total nutter), a young Alan Dunne, Tony Craig. What a proper group of players that was. The thing I remember most though, was the summer of 04 I think Steven Reid and Lucas Neil were signed by Blackburn and Tim Cahill was signed by Everton. I remember thinking that if Millwall had reached say the quarter final of the FA cup and got knocked out (but still failed to go up) then those lads would have still been at Millwall the following season, but because you'd reached the FA Cup final, all these Prem clubs were sniffing around Millwall looking for a bargain. It's mad how quickly things can change in football. At least you got to laugh at West Ham losing to Palace in the play-off final though. If you had a magic wand, but you could only pick one, FA cup or promotion to the PL, which would you rather have?
@@johnmitchell2269 We had a great crop of characters between 2001 and 2004 for sure. Worth mentioning the likes of Sean Dyche and Steve Claridge as well, proper players. Lucas Neill actually left in 2001, just after we won the League 1 title. Steven Reid then followed him to Blackburn in 2003, so both left before the FA Cup final campaign. I do believe we could’ve achieved a play off place in 2004 had it not been for the cup run. However I don’t think I’d change that FA Cup campaign for promotion.
@@johnmitchell2269 no hesitation what so ever getting in to a fa cup final and playing in Europe is something that will live with me and every Millwall supporter to our dying days
What a top geezer and very funny. Seems like a waste of a career though . Saw him at Elland Rd once and I could see he was a player and a lovely left foot.
Cracking episode. However as a Millwall fan I can say that Sweeney wasn’t as good as he says he was. I think he was pretty fortunate that our left hand side was probably the weakest area of the team, so he got a fair share of games between 2003 and 2005. That story about the fish had me absolutely creasing with laughter by the way! 🤣
This podcast keeps getting better and better 😂. He played mostly on the right hand side of midfield when he first broke through under wise as fofana played on the left so are u sure u watched the same games? No doubt was a good player with ability but wasted alot of it. Baz Conlon interview next please 👏🏻

All the guests on this channel are terrible professionals a good gauge for what not to do to be a professional sportsman . None had very memorable careers

Top fella and as always top banter and incredibly insightful and helpful to all. Keep safe lads 👦
Never heard or seen him play, but he seems to tell a common story of not being able to be professional enough to have a proper career.
Always. Your right. But their definitely the best ones.

I’m guessing you’re either a glory hunting Premier League ‘fan’ or you’ve never experienced relegation, or both. Manu? Chelsea? Liverpool?
the manager should have sacked the lot and get the youth in...
What a squad we had 10/11 at Bury
He would have played at the very top if he could have lived the life. An unbelievable footballer. Loved him at Bury
Do yous actually shout for him to come in as your all set up them move room? Or is it pre recorded
