- Directionally challenged, surely MARM can't get lost at a 5K park run?
In only his 2nd attempt at this distance, can MARM go one better?
And will MARM give his opinion on the “parkrun data scandal”???

I’m with you MARM, been running 15+ years and have done maybe only half a dozen park runs. I’m an early morning runner. While people are fussing over where to park for their morning park run I have generally done 10 miles and at 9am I am led in the bath having a soak and enjoying a cup of tea with the latest copy of Runners World.
I’m right with you Bish.

It’s like a labyrinth.
ParkRun is a great fun activity and you can walk or just watch. You can also make it a much longer run if you wish ,by adding extra miles. It's great for people just starting out as they can track their progress. Hope you enjoy many more ParkRuns. Luckily for me my wife takes care of the logistics 😅😂

You did well to avoid park run for 10 years 😂 I can't decide whether I love it loathe it.. Its a wonderful concept but being a grumpy old woman I only like a parkrun that doesn't involve 'the hounds of the baskervilles' or being beaten by someone with a double buggy.. Its basically wacky races out there BUT what I do love is that email telling me how virtuous I am for being a 'joiner in' and for putting up with running with the masses rather than being a bit niche with my endurance pack and full on picnic traversing the country, surprised parkrun doesn't have an anthem.. It needs one to be sung between first timers and race briefing, maybe after congratulating the birthdays and achievements, a rousing chorus complete with someone banging a gong and maybe at new year, bagpipes.. Definitely room for improvement 😂
On my long run Monday,got chatting with a 85 year old runner,he was really pissed off because he held age bests in parkrun .

Great video. To be fair people go the wrong way all the time on complicated parkruns with loops etc so ideally check the course beforehand and listen to the brief (if you can hear above people yakking). In terms of statsgate, the personal stats are unchanged. They've removed a link on each parkrun with historic age category stats etc. I have done 232 parkruns and didn't know they were there. Stats are on a 3rd party "5k app" but people are annoyed at the lack of consultation. Fair enough but its no second Dreyfus case

Speaking as a parkrun junkie it's great to someone else filming their run. Great job. Ignore the negative comments. I'm a lot slower than you, and older and yet I can still enjoy the video. Let us know how your relationship with parkrun evolves, especially if you prefer longer runs.

you may already know this Marmers but if you have a garmin watch can dowload the parkrun bar code onto the watch face which means no need to faff about with phone or wristbands etc 👍
Which Garmin is the best value for this sort of thing.
i think most garmins can do it , i have a relatively basic forerunner 55 which it worked on , now i use the instinct solar 2x . can get the basic forerunners around £125 i think .

One thing though, races are expensive to enter, so park run can be a race if you choose it to be, all part of the "all things to all people" thing.

Your a bit casual about this data thing marm, in the future they will recreate us as avatars using our data, see the problem now, your eternal virtual self needs this data to render you accurately, without accurate records you might be running 2 hour half marathons, for all eternity. Or worse still, cycling.
