In 1953, at the tender age of 7, I fell in love with Jacques Tati. The love affair continues to this day. My parents, a friend, and I saw Hulot together and it created an inseverable bond. Such brilliance. Incomparable.
My mum (from Bordeaux) was a massive fan of his for years. She chanced upon meeting him outside a theatre where his was sitting in a gutter contemplating life. She expressed how much she loved his work but ultimately I guess it's difficult to accept when your life's work at the time isn't really appreciated. At least for a moment there he knew he was appreciated
Jacques Tati - a worldwide legend.

It is so curious and the sounddesign is unbelievable. These movies were far ahead of their time.

i only wish i could have met him and told him how important he was to the film industry.
can someone please tell me what the music is at the very start of the video, with the accordian?
It's "The Old Quarter" (Le Vieux Quartier) by Alain Romans. You can find it in the original soundtrack of the movie or in YT of course.
