Great Videos on this topic! 2:15 He definitely needs to understand metal gauge/thickness conversions though. 7 Gauge metal flooring is 3/16" thick NOT 1/4" thick. 10 Gauge is 9/64" thick. 1/4" steel would be a 3 gauge which would be significantly heavier and much thicker.
Thanks for the feedback and for viewing!
@@Dirtmonkey how has your trailer held up? Love your content
I really appreciate you doing this series on trailers, the quality, welds, as well as material cost and how companies are cutting cost with the frames. Excellent job with this !!!
Thank you , I really appreciate you watching!!
Stan, please continue this series and talk about axles, brakes, shackles, springs & tires. Not all are created equal.
HITCH ! ID the hitch. Axels, bearings, seals hubs n brakes. Already opened that pandora's box several times now....
Yes DO this !
I thought Suretrac trailers used Dexter Axles.... Which means they all have self adjusting brakes?
Bumper vs gooseneck?
Yes please do so as well as significant things like bearings bushings twist and stability of the bed these are the difficult things that can't be scene in a video or trusted to a Salesman answer honestly.
Personally I have bought 2 sure trac dump trailers this year. My scissor lift is strictly for debris and my newest trailer is a telescopic goose neck that we use for dirt, rock, and hauling our mini excavator and skid loader. These trailers get worked in extreme conditions day in and day out. I stand by this brand!
Bobby - Thank you for entrusting us to be a part of your business. We are happy to hear that our products are meeting your expectations!
Have you tried putting concrete ? If so, how did the trailer do ?
so doing my due diligence i have come up with some important features that i want. galvanized for rust protection. front hydralic lift makes total sense. 12 inch on center steel tubing on the framing. duel 7000lbs axles. 14ft. also want the wheels outside the box for lower center of gravity for easier safer loads and pulling. if i need to load skids maybe have a winch mounted on the front of the trailer to pull them forward. 3/16 inch deck.
thanks for video, convinced me to look for front mounted lift.
Midsota Midsota Midsota! Built-in central Minnesota and shipped all over the country including Alaska. Quality that speaks for itself. I know Midsota Versa dump trailers that have been in commercial use for over 10yrs that look and work great still. Maintenance goes a long way. My trailers will always be Midsota.
I’m in AK & have a Midsota.. LOL
As someone who went to school for welding. who ever welded the competitors trailer, even if they used inferior metal needs to find a new line of work. Thinner metal is no excuse for ass welds
Ah they just ran a flux core Micky weld across it and moved on. It's not a AWS xray weld. They all are like this and they were lying about it being the competitor's trailer. It's their product. Speaking on which. I agree 100% with you. If I buy something for 11-15k I want it build with quality.
Great video besides the dissing on people living in the South! Thank goodness we don't have to worry about rusted out vehicles and trailers.
Rebels probably treasonous repugnants
Amen, well said not everything in the south is worse.
Great video! Appreciate the education, I had no idea I thought that all manufactures had DOT guidelines they had to follow on all H/D dump trailers. Also I sure appreciated seeing the difference in welds and the differences that go into the finish work on powder coating.
I just bought a N and N full galvanized trailer for here in northern Canada I had watched one of you previous videos it helped me so much I actually halted a order and then ordered this N and N I’m so happy for the guiding hand I did end up buying a used trailer from the company I had the order halted it didn’t last a month was truly sad very informative what to look for
I am happy to hear that the vid helped you out, thanks for watching!!
To funny you put this up today! I just got my first tandem axle trailer... FOR FREE! It ain't pretty, it needs work, but it was FREE! God bless Stanley.
Awesome Lance, you too!
Stanly I wish you were my dad man so full of life and knowledge thanks for all of your content it means the world to me
Thanks Chris, I really appreciate that, glad to have you here !
Another great video stan part 2 was as good as part 1. Yes down I-75 in GA. there is a lot of manufactures off that highway I know of another one Above Jacksonville Fl. I've been to the plant there when I was looking for a gooseneck just to take a gander. See if sure-trac will give you factory tour. I really like you videos because you make them of real world applications not a dog & pony show. I've worked in the trucking industry , lawn maintenance , and site prep you are not slinging bull Frisbees. Another good point would be the CHEAP TIRES they put on trailers most of them or crap if you go on a long trip better carry 2 spares. the difference ext bais & radial tires on trailers longevity ext. I could go on for hours but iI will leave that to stan and his great videos your time invested in making them is a great tool for the working folks .
Thank you!!
Great info an advice. Maybe do a lubrication video series next. Alot people have no idea about proper grease type, intervals or why they grease .
Thanks for the input and suggestion Steve!
Excellent series of videos. Buying the right trailer or any piece of equipment is very important. You made a lot of excellent points. Buy quality products and then maintain them and treat them as an investment.
Thanks Ken, good to know that you like the vids!!
I have a Sure Trac.2 years old and not a problem other than I wish i got the telescopic ram over scissor.Ive had to shovel out the front a couple times with wet sand.
Thanks for your comments!
Do more videos like this. This is going to help so many people that don't have any experience with trailers
Will do, thanks for letting me know 👍
@@Dirtmonkey I build trailers myself for people how ever they want it built. 95 percent of the trailers I built are cheaper than the big trailer companies and 2 times stronger. I only use quality part's on them. Every trailer comes with extra lights, bearing's, leaf springs, axle covers, a complete hub, studs, and brakes. The reason why I do that is because it sucks to be broke down and no one has the part you need for your trailer.

I have a 14k equipment trailer I bought new that had the wrong wheels for the hubs from the factory. Had to replace all wheels and hubs with less than 300 miles on the trailer. Lost a wheel because of it. Be sure to check your lug nut torque within first 25 miles and then the next 100.
My recent equipment trailer purchase wasn't to good, bought an iron bull, missing five welds on the beavertail, almost fell off. Dealer tried to make it ok, got another one, found more welds missing, feet bending within months, back c channel for beaver is cold rolled, and already warped...i would recommend trying a different brand..I've had good luck with my pj's, should of stuck with them
Very interesting video. And yeah, if a manufacturer can save on something they often will. And if you like saving money, as most people, you may be really happy about that. But it all depends on WHAT they save money on.
Thanks Daniel!
Owned lots of trailers over the years, always oil sprayed them also, but I can tell you this,GALVANIZE is the king period, and that's from years of experience, aside from aluminium.
What type of oil do you uses? I know there is galvanized metal but are there trailers made from galvanized steel?
We found that most mass produced dump trailers on the market suck, we started building our own about 5 years ago, and glad we did.
That's cool, thank you for watching!
Look into Big Tex trailers. I have a LX12, it has a 12,000lb rating with 8,500lb payload capacity. Only paid $6800 for it. Have never greased it or maintained it in the 5 years that I've owned it, and it still looks and performs like the day I bought it. Best investment i ever purchased. I'm also not licensed with DOT and have never had an issue with DOT, even though according to this video they make it seem like I should.
Just did more checking into this, unless your involved in interstate commerce, a USDOT number isn't need, regardless of weight. Since I haul construction debris USDOT is not required.
Love your videos but this one left a little to be desired.
I've been casually researching dump trailers for a couple years now and what you covered was the basics that I figured out in the first week.
Gauge of Steel, continuous welds, seal gaps and paint or powder coat.
The things that I can't quite get a solid unbiased answer to are: quick grease axles or oil bath, is it worth the extra money to do the wet axle?
Who all makes a quality single front hydraulic? Most of the ones I seen look pretty cheesy.
Are the Scissor lifts better uneven Terrain? Out here in the Ozarks you're never going to have a level flat spot to dump from and even though I know commercial dumps use a front multiple stage hydraulic for a trailer on uneven ground I'm wondering if the scissor is going to be more stable with less twist when dumping?
Gooseneck or bumper pull? I know a gooseneck is going to weigh more and I also know it will pull and track better but I would also like to know if backing up a bumper pull in soft soil sand or dirt is problemsome? Or even backing up hills.
If you have any more professional opinions on these issues I would greatly appreciate it.
Again I live in the Ozarks and there is no straight flat Road anywhere around here.
@Cris the reason it's hard to nail down critical information is because morons like you thinking they know more than they do.
You have no clue why I have not chosen a trailer yet or what I'm using now.
Talking garbage like which one works better when loaded heavy in the front is nonsense because it all depends on the strength of the hydraulic system and we all know that you can get hydraulics to move a lot more than what these trailers are capable of.
I was hoping you get an opinion of a professional not someone like you.
Good info, I built our first 3k lb dump trailer out of an old camper frame. It was rear ended by a rover. We picked a bri-mar 7k deckover and have been running it hard for the last few years. It works grate but the paint tires and lighting sucks. I think an under rated sure track or B-wise in the 10k+ will be next.
Thank you and thanks for sharing!
Bwise owns BriMar trailers and both are manufactured in the same plant so better look elsewhere if you don't want a repeat of your current trailer problems.
We bought a 14' Ultimate Dump about a year ago and I must say it as been amazing. It's the fourth dump trailer we've had in 5 years, first 3 were stolen, and it has done everything we tried with it. 12'000lbs of sand, concrete demo, hauling the skid steer. The ramp has been well worth the money. Only thing we had to do is replace the cheap ass battery that it came with to a Optima Blue top and add a solar battery charger. We hesitated due to the price ($16'000) but after about a month realized it was worth the money. Especially the ramp. It makes loading the skid steer much quicker and easier and you can easily push a wheelbarrow up it. The hydraulic leg also saves a lot of time and makes hooking and unhooking a breeze.
how did you get three trailers stolen in 5 years? that's pretty some bad luck right there.
@@scrapmanindustries Left the first one in front of a Walmart where we were working and they used a cutting torch to cut the tongue lock off, the second one was stolen out of the shop driveway which happens to be behind my brothers house, so on the third one I took off the hitch thinking if they can't hook it up to a receiver they can't take it... wrong. It was parked in front of a Raley's supermarket where we were working.
@@InLaymansTermsPlease damn man. sounds like you need to start taking the axles off and hiding em every time you park it at that rate. what city do you live in where stolen trailers are that high in demand?
@@scrapmanindustries The jobs were Rocklin, Capitola and Tracy. The Police in Rocklin said it was probably the Russians. They said that Russian gangs from Sacramento have been stealing everything in sight and they were very aggressive. What was crazy is that the trailer was sitting in the middle of a Walmart parking lot on a busy street and they cut the tongue lock off with a cutting torch in the middle of the night.
Scrapman Industries Scrap processing we had two big dump trailers stolen in the same night right out of the shop driveway. Never saw them again
VERY INFORMATIVE! THANKS! As many others have pointed out I too would really like to see this same type of vid on the axles, brakes, power system, hydraulics and hitch in a detailed comparison..
Sounds good! Thanks for letting me know 👍
Quality of the ram, hydraulic pumps and lines, tire rating, battery is it deep cycle ect whole lot of stuff to consider
I appreciate these videos, alot of good info because i'm going to start making and selling pick up truck trailers next month. Thank you.
I bought a used 24' aluminum trailer from those guys (m&g). Great store / staff. Stan, isn't Ramsey kiddy corner across the twin cities from you? Still closer than me anyway. (I'm north of Duluth)
I like watching your vids to see what you have to say, even when I'm quite familiar with the content. That gives me confidence when watching videos from you where I'm in the dark.
Thanks Stan!
I’m a production welder and weld quality it a big thing in every type of product and something they missing welds in place that could be for a reason because welding to much is just as bad as to little
As always, very useful and insightful information.
Glad to hear it , thank you !
I like your idea of padding the trailer with dirt. I load tractor trailers at a quarry and some of the guys who have thinner aluminum trailers will line the beds with plywood if they are getting large rocks.
We'd always have the loader man put some uncertified ABC or something in the trailer bottom when loading rip rap, ballast or other large material. Whether in a steel or aluminum body to save wear and tear on the floor, plywood gets tore up. The loader operators in the quarries we have gone to will always be accommodating.
@@barrysimmons4724 I personally load sand at my end so I can't speak about them adding material. I just remembered a conversation I had with a few of my regulars and another loader which is when I was told about the plywood. didn't sound cost effective to me but it's what these "good old boys" do.
Had a cheep one for 10 years. It worked. We repaired it frequently. 5 years ago I bought a top of the line corn pro. Way better unit. Have not had to do any repairs. 1st trailer was 5k 2nd one was 11k
Great video, wish I'd been able to see this years ago before I bought my trailers. Very informative!
Thanks Keith, hope it helps you out in the future!
I called a trailer lot today and got this person that kept wanting to sell me on trailer dimensions and I had to keep interrupting her saying that I need a GVWR as close to but under 10,000 lbs as possible. That sent her into a tail spin and I quickly lost confidence in this retailer. Moving on!
I try to only buy deck over trailers for where I am at. I live off-road and deck over ride in the same track and my 3500 SRW. Something to think about if you pull off-road.
Thanks for sharing Shane!
Good info Stan. Im thnkin bout gettin a dump trailer and pretty sure "im go go with a sure trac. Only problem is their dealer isnt open saturday. Sure makes it hard for a guy that works 5-6 days a week
The powder coat on my suretrac 5k dump did just that.... flaked away all over.
Suretrack
informative video - I am in the deep south and have shopped for a dump trailer but don't find real quality in workmanship around here.
Thanks Roy, hope the vid helps you out !
They never answered the question. What to stay away from. That tells me they're no different than the competitors. They can't tell you what makes them stand out
@RealestRealist apparently you can't keep up because you missed when I said that they can't even show you what makes their trailers so much better
A simple way to protect the floor of your trailer is to line it with 1/2” or even 1/4” plywood. Depending on your application. Notching around your tie-downs actually inadvertently locks the plywood in place without losing it every time you dump. Just some food for thought. Love what your doing with your Chanel! Liked! and Subscribed!
How long that wood gonna last being outdoors in the rain
Any trailer can be built poorly. I would recommend not having a trailer built in peak season, Feburary-July. Every manufacturer in hard pressed to turn out product and capture as many sales as possible. Most discounts and sales incentives occur August-January.
The last 1/3 of the video is the same as the first of the video.
Lamar and Texas Pride seem to be fair priced and excellent quality dump trailers manufactured in Texas but unfortunately for me, they don't seem to have dealers near me here in the NYC area. I might have to settle for a PJ dump trailer soon instead. I have owned a dependable BriMar 16' dumpster since 2009. They were bought out by BWise trailers and since then, it seems that their build quality has gone down with the opposite effect on their price.
I bought bran new sure trac flatbed trailer and the thing rusted in a year!!!!
I bought a deck over dump trailer from H&H/ MG trailers. Overall it works excellent for my purposes. Plenty heavy in terms of its construction. It does have the possibility of loading too heavy in the front end. Also the back and needs to be supported before loading equipment into it. Otherwise you will raise the back of your truck and free wheel.
H&H is so bad when it comes to wiring though. Their lighting doesn't make sense because they use different colors than normally for turns and brake lights
7:22 that’s EXACTLY what happened with my sure-trac. Trailer is a absolute piece of crap! My Pace and Cam trailers are double the age of the sure trac and still look brand new. I will never buy a sure trac trailer ever again and I tell everyone the same, there quality isn’t good at all contrary to what they say. I call bs on the sales guy unless they changed their ways since I bought mine 4 years ago. there is no primer on the metal like my Cam with PPG paint. The powder coat is junk, trailer is rusting away with the original set of tires on it that are still at least at 80%.
Meadow View Lawn Care LLC they still suck. Selling the one I got in April. Cheaply made due to greed. I was actually contacted by somebody and was told they can’t help me and I should think about things before I spend 9k. Yea.
@Meadow View Lawn Care LLC - Sorry for your experience. We have made several advancements to our processes over the last few years. This includes blasting material to provide best surface for the powder to stick to, as well as constant review with Sherwin WIlliams to ensure our applications are on point. In any case, this does not justify your experience, and we apologize. We understand the importance of having reliable equipment so you can do what you do day in and day out, and we apologize for not being able to meet your expectations and needs.
Sure-Trac Trailers I’m glad to hear you are changing things up, but a bit late for me. honestly I would consider doing a paint and primer instead. My dump trailer with the ppg paint and primer is holding up just great. Your 20ft flatbed that I bought new, and maybe only goes out a dozen times a year to move a backhoe the fenders have holes right though them and will fall off if you step on them. I’m a owner operator so I maintain and clean my equipment all the time. I’m just very disappointed that my newest trailer I own looks like my oldest. Even after the first year the DOT tape fell off, luckily my dealer gave me new tape for it, but even the sticker with all the information and vin number disintegrated, but the powder coated tough sticker is still on tho! Seriously in all honesty it looks like the trailer was stored in a salt shed its whole life.
Im a sure track dealer and cam superline and the cams have better powder coating, and is built 10% over capacity. We sell 30 something trailers a week and deal with 25 different manufacturers at any given times.
Literally just had a cam trailer with dual pistons fail to dump on me this morning because of that exact reason
Keep in mind yet hoist is rated at waterload.... meaning level load.
What reason. Over loaded, low battery?
Don't waste time on painted or powder coated trailers go with galvanized.
I'll never buy a new trailer that's not aluminum or galvanized
Who makes a Galvanized dump?
EXACTLY what I though too, N&N Trailers Remorques make AWSOME trailers too GALVANIZED, I would not go with Aluminum since its a soft steel, but its just my opinion and preference 👍🏼🙋🏽♂️
So... Sorry if this seems like a stupid question. But doesn't galvanized rust in bad weather too? Like salt covered winter roads? Especially if they are using Mag?
@@cooldad6706 no it is self healing. The Canadian galvanized trailers are made for salt environment. They also have sealed artic flex wiring for cold weather.
Had a CornPro 12’ deck over for 13 years...done little maintenance to it and it has held up...very beefy trailer! But like mentioned they do need maintenance...they have a combo latch for the gate and the lock for the ramps that rusted in position...should’ve have grease fittings...other than that it’s a tank
Thanks so much!! I needed this information.
Thanks a million for the info on these trailers. I'm about to get a 7x14 dump trailer. I was ready to get a Load Trail for $7500 with the scissor lift and 2' sides, but now I'm more than convinced to get the Sure Trac with the telescopic hoist. Thank again Stan!!!!!
One thing you have not discussed on your videos is that some states, you do not need a CDL license go over at 26000 pound limit. As a farmer the CDL regulations do not apply if you do not leave the state that you are living in. Like I said not all states require you to have a CDL license to go over that 26000 pound weight limit, in my state you can go over that 26000 pound weight limits and the DOT will not stop you.
We purchased a Sure-Track Contractor pro 8.5 x 20 trailer and we're disappointed with the fit and finish of the unit. The company is working with us but for 25K CAD I expected more for our team.
Man Stan, you are in the middle of a the GIE and you are still pumping out videos
Nice video some good info but not everything was covered or answered. It gave me some ideas on building one. Nothing was mentioned about oil bath axles and trailers shown were some of the basics. When it comes to welds on those trailers and I'm not just saying new ones, they're not all done in a factory with robotic welding, mig and arc welding are still done and ya may not get all the slag before paint.
In Michigan, if it's not hot dip galvanized, it's going to rust
Can you do a video on enclosed trailers as well the good the bad and the ugly.
I have a 2006 PJ 7 x 12 10000 lb dump trailer build quality is great and used it for over 220 10000 lb loads before one of the hinges on the dump finally went out. Bought a 2018 7 by 14 PJ 14000 lb dump and a lot of the welds were of poor quality and the seam in the center of the bed where the two plates lineup was off by 1/8 of an inch for over 80% of the length before putting your money down on a trailer spend at least 2 hours inspecting it thoroughly to make sure it is what you are paying for. I wish I would have before I bought my second trailer but I relied on their previous quality trailer and obviously the workmanship had gone downhill over the years.
How often do you have to grease it? (I actually own two sure-trac trailers that I bought about 6 months ago I use them full-time and I'm very happy with it)
5000 Miles is ideal
Power Up / Power Down vs Pwr Up / Gravity Down? Thoughts? I bought a Pwr Up / Gravity Down and regret it. When you get it extended to full dump, it is slow to come down until you get it about half way down. The dump trailer is probably the most useful thing I have bought.
I should also add that it is a dual ram setup.
My dad has one like that not bad bought a new with pwr up pwr dwn its good just makes me feel as though it might drain the battery faster
I have a power up gravity down single ram and have no issues at all. It does everything I need it to do.
@@jeffironlegs my dad has one also never have had a problem with it. I would probably prefer them just because of the thought of eating more battery with the pwr dwn but i haven't ran into that problem yet plus lately i haven't had to dump more than 1 time a day if not 🤔
I wish I could afford a small dump trailer. I'm not a contractor but I haul building products and firewood so it would be nice. Wouldn't need anything heavy duty, I'm also not dumb lol.
Lol, thanks for watching Rob!
I like the idea of the side loading trailor for mixed loads
Rob Boutin Jr you can typically find them used pretty check won’t be pretty but it’ll probably work
I bought a 6×12 bri mar last year. Holding up good seems high quality. But there was definitely more experience brands. The deck over in same brand was $1,500 less. I like how it was alot narrower but it was built alot cheaper frame axles tires. but had same 9,999lbs capacity. So you cant go by capacity. Contractors dont want to go above that 10k mark for dot.
I had to remove a scissor underbody hoist due to no greasing, the pins on the hoist completely seized. Complete junk, the owner claimed he had no knowledge of the grease fittings. Telescopic cylinders are the way to go, trust me I have installed and repaired telescopic cylinders from dump trailers to 21 foot dump trucks.
We owned 2 sure tracks lasted less than 10 years powder coated rotted from the inside out!
What can ppl do to stop that?
Good stuff thank you for sharing
No problem David, thank you!!
I had a16 ft twin cylinder that would not go high enough to dump firewood
Great video! Thnx for that info!
You bet! Thanks for watching !
Great video. I'm sending it to both sons, my brother, and a good friend. Lots of information. What have you or your guest found to be the most failure point of overloading. We have dump trailers but guessing the weight is difficult at best. A 14 foot trailer with dirt can haul a lot. Thanks
I appreciate you passing it on Robert, thank you!
I need a trailer so I'm asking for donations lol. I got a quote today on a 16ft bumper pull dual 7k axle trailer, $19,500 plus tax and title. I don't want to buy out of state but might have too with these crazy prices.
I bought a sure-trac full tilt Dimond plate deck 2021 in 1 month (500 miles) the powder coat is sheeting off.
Nice trailers they sell there but what is up with the cheesy Jack's. Those trailers should at least have heavy duty jacks with a foot that drops down
Brakes on a dump trailer, lol. Only maintenance I've ever seen is when they lock up they pull the hub off rip the shoes off and throw them away. If all the lights actually work I'm stocked.
Right around 11:25 , you point out the poor welds and lack of any kind of sealing. How plausible is it to go around and re-weld or seal those gaps? It would take some time, but if one can weld and knows what to look for, I would think it might get you by until you can upgrade. what do any of you think?
Thanks
i want to buy a 5x10 Dump Trailer any suggestion between LAMAR , Diamond C, or JP trailer.
thanks
He makes it sound like Indiana is far south, LOL!
Hey STANLEY I personally prefer galvanized trailers, what do you think 🤔??
He is right about the welds, but both brands are using the same cheapo powder paint. Doesn't matter how nice you weld if you coat it with a 1 year coating.
Also is there different coverages as far as insurance based off durability.
Or is it based off of weight ratios and theft protection.
Good topic.
Hey thanks Stephen!
GREAT IDEA having a competitor's trailer next to yours to view the difference...up there for thinkin.. down there for dancin 😂😂
Been looking to get and have rented several dump trailers and can't figure out for the life of me why they make the hinge point back about 1-1/2 feet in front of the tailgate??????? When you go to dump you end up dragging the rear of the trailer or the tailgate on the ground or through whatever it is you just dumped. Why not put the hinge point just a couple inches right in front of the tailgate?
The 14 gauge floor and wall dump trailers are now 7500. FML
Thank you!
Ok, so I watched both of the vids on dump trailers.
Question - What is the or where do I find the regulations on the weight capacity? I have a 1-ton truck and do not want to be subject to DOT regulations if I can help it.
If it helps I am in Texas
look at the Texas dmv website. if your truck is a f350 or something though your hovering dangerously close to needing a medical card anyway if your using it to make money. depending on the year and layout you may already need one.
@@scrapmanindustries Yes it is a 2017 F350. Thanks, I will look at the website.
I live in southeastern Indiana and my buddy bought a 14 foot x force dump trailer its junk weld broke off an in 4 months it's all rust and big chunks of paint chipping off it's so noisy tires only last for 3 months and no were for strap hold down except inside the bed
Is there any decrease in quality to price point, buying from the south to buying from the north. Are they more durable and better built to withstand salt and everything up north to buying it down here in the south east
Great vid will prob use this someday
Anyone have any experience (good/bad/indifferent) with the KTrail galvanized dump trailer? Thank you.
I cant believe you made us wait 48 hrs for this video!!! LOL
They have a point u get for wat u pay for!!
So what legally do you have to do to use a 12000 lb trailer vs a 10000 lb trailer. Here in Pa. I know a lot of guys buying 12000 lb trailers and tagging them as 10000 lb. so they don’t have to get a combination tag.
How does a big Tex 25du stack up ? I Wana use for tree work and crane large logs into it and chunks of wood ...
A 25 du is a great trailer
Awesome information Stan, how often do they recommend to repack the bearings on these dump trailers... I'm located up north in Snow Country...God Bless...Chief..{NYS/ADK}
I have no clue when it comes to these types of trailers. Do they have one for a home owner? I don't own a pick-up but we have an SUV and make trips to the dump once in awhile. Health issues keep me from climbing up in a regular trailer. Any suggestions Stan? Thanks for sharing your thoughts and videos, Rodney
some companies make some with a gross weight of 3500lbs. not huge. but would work with most suv's
Check out the tow rating, tongue weight, electrical hook-up, and hitch design for your vehicle - then check the yellow pages, or on-line, for local (commercial?) hire/rental places and see what they have that meets the vehicles max' spec'.
For the most part, for the odd job, it is simpler and cheaper to hire when needed.
@@gordowg1wg145 I agree with you.

An aluminum trailer, if maintained and not abused will last for ever and yes you will pay for it. But only 1k more. 50 bucks a year to not have to paint the mother f...er ia a good deal. Plus the weight savings is worth the cost. And haul it with an SUV
Good information. I have owned off brand equipment before. Just not worth it.
My friend bought a 16ft cheaper dump trailer. He wanted the more expensive one. He tried to justify the purchase to his wife. She didnt get, and now, less than one month later, its rusting around the base, and one of the latch hooks in the swing door snapped off, and the hinge sags a bit. 😐
First step after purchase, fluid film the heck out of it.
So is that as high as they go? If not how high do they go?
