My hair has been soooo frizzy, because I live in Rome and the water is SUPER HARD! This got my curls RIGHT BACK!!! It's been months! I literally cried in the mirror. THANK YOU!
I have 3c hair and struggled to understand how rake & shake would even work in my hair, but after seeing your very awesome video, I'm going to give it a try! Thanks x
uuuuuuuggghhh! girl! you have given me so much hope. lol. I've been natural for about 1 year and a half now and my curls are almost identical to yours and I didn't know what to do! I tried a wash n go with gel before and it straightened my curls too much. so I will try this technique thanx!!
You have the EXACT hair colour I have been dying to get done!! I would be forever thankful if u could share your hair colour details! Thx! :) p.s. u've got great curls!
Deni Abdullahi Thank you!!! In this video, my color is just the result of henna over Garnier Olia in Light Auburn (which washed out terribly...lol). My current color is custom from Carleen Sanchez, a curly hair artist in Nevada. I hope this helps!
TheManeObjective You're welcome! I'm about a 2C/3A, & my curls are difficult - though I've learned a lot about how to work with them. I love the fact that you can actually rake yours & the curl doesn't disappear. I basically pat product onto/into my hair, then bend over to shake it out. Even so, with a longish bob, I lose curl at the top from the weight of my hair...
I could really use some additional info on the products you used for the rake & shake... Is it a mix of the products you show in the video or do they go on top of each other? I am really new at this ;)
I am going to try this method this weekend as I always love the curls of my hair when it's wet. But at what point in the method did use the Eco Styler gel?!!? :-)
Do you apply a combination off all three products at once ? Or do you do it separately and apply them on top of each other ? If so then what goes first ?
It seems like a nice method, I'm certanly going to try it, but tell me, why do you use gloves it's for prevent frizz? Can I do it without the gloves and even so get the same results?
sofia coutinho she is using the gloves to protect her nails from her hair and her hair from her nails. i have seen people use the gloves to detangle their hair as it aids in slip.
Isabel Ngulube I can't claim to be an expert on 4C hair...but I say anything is worth a try! If you have a curl definer you like, give it a go and let me know how it works so I can share it with the other 4C ladies. Thank you
MzKinkyCurl I do get some white areas when using Eco from time to time, but they always go away and dry flake free. I make sure to test my product combos beforehand. Let me know how it works :)
+427IndigenousSkies Your right it's 2015 almost 2016 so why are you still saying negro Americans? I believe the correct term is African Americans or just plain Americans😁
My hair has been soooo frizzy, because I live in Rome and the water is SUPER HARD! This got my curls RIGHT BACK!!! It's been months! I literally cried in the mirror. THANK YOU!

Amazing! I'm totally going to try this, I've been loving everything I've tried from Ouidad - it's hard to find in Canada unfortunately!
Definitely give it a try - the method works with literally every curl definer I try!
I already use these exact products and your hair texture is similar to mine. I can't wait to try this!

Daniela Martinez Yeah! You get different curls then when you normally style it but I like it! :)
Femke Mulder

I love the look and the method looks super easy! But what did you do for bedtime? :)
Joi Turner I pineapple using my wig cap method : www.maneobjective.com/2014/10/wig-net-pineapple-method-natural-hair.html
TheManeObjective Thank you!!!
Ouidad specifically says you shake side to side not up and down. Up and down breaks apart the ribbons.
Zakia Gadsden EcoStyler was the last thing, on top. It's the gel I was raking and shaking through my hair :) Let me know how it works for you!
Do you apply a combination off all three products at once ? Or do you do it separately and apply them on top of each other ? If so then what goes first ?
Great question! I always apply my leave-in(s) all over, and then section by section apply the gel.
You don't have to shake up and down for it to work, you can also do it side to side and get the same results.
Do you prefer this compared to the praying hands method?
How do you apply the Castor Oil in the shower? Do you leave it in? Before or after the As I Am?
Beautiful! 💖💖💖💖💖
kyleestar1 Thank you!!!!
My hair is not as long as your yet can I do it on shorter hair?
It seems like a nice method, I'm certanly going to try it, but tell me, why do you use gloves it's for prevent frizz? Can I do it without the gloves and even so get the same results?
sofia coutinho she is using the gloves to protect her nails from her hair and her hair from her nails. i have seen people use the gloves to detangle their hair as it aids in slip.
Thank u só much Christina! I watched the video with more attencion and then I understood that! But anyway thank u for replying!!
does this work on straight fluffy natural hair?
can you use this method on 4C hair
Isabel Ngulube I can't claim to be an expert on 4C hair...but I say anything is worth a try! If you have a curl definer you like, give it a go and let me know how it works so I can share it with the other 4C ladies. Thank you
I will give it a try and let you know thanks for getting back to me
I have 4c hair and the method turned out just like hers... I'm trying to figure out how to post a photo so that you can see
Excellent will give it a try tonight
WOW I love this.
Ouidad rake and shake you shake gently from side to side not aggressively up and down.
Does this work for short hair?
ElleGeezee As long as you can rake it and hold the ends, I say yes :)
Ummm yea I need a 4C person who hasn't straighten their hair more than 2x a year..doubt this will work for me
It does work... I just tried it.... I'm trying to figure out how to post a photo for the 4c hair type so that you ladies can see
Zakia Gadsden yes please do
Zakia Gadsden Please do we need to see
Looks great, but in the front I see a few tiny white balls???? Maybe it was the camera. I'll try this rake and shake method. Thanks
MzKinkyCurl I do get some white areas when using Eco from time to time, but they always go away and dry flake free. I make sure to test my product combos beforehand. Let me know how it works :)
and how many times have u permed ur hair before tht cuz tht wont work on completley natrual african american hair
Keara Blair It worked on my 3c/4a hair and I was shocked. Give it a try.
What? Im natural and it works on me. My sister who's hair is this length and natural, I use the exact same method and it works on her as well.
+427IndigenousSkies Your right it's 2015 almost 2016 so why are you still saying negro Americans? I believe the correct term is African Americans or just plain Americans😁
N'Dionne Curls I'm not African, that's why. And to differentiate myself from other "Americans". Any other questions?
Not everybody has the same type of hair texture as you
