I'm 43 years old and have been wanting a Harley for 30 years. I finally bought a 2020 Deluxe with the stage 1 and Basani fishtail pipes last October. Best decision I've made. 6500 miles on it now. Love it.

Im 35 and have a 2019 HD FLDE DELUXE. With Ape hangers chrome luggage rack, solo seat, sawed off chrome pips, burnt whiskey and blackened silver with black pin lines
Bought it used in June 30th 2021 at Bayside, second HD I bought from there, first I was able to test drive. 😀
It now has just under 4,500 miles
      Love it,

Great review, Motorman but I wish I hadn't watched the video- I want one .... more than I did before. Best looking model in the current H-D lineup imho .... it honors the past without being a slave to it. As you said it's a thoroughly modern motorcycle. It will still look good 20 years from now; I'm not so sure that can be said about some other current and future models in H-D's lineup. For some of us there's still a place for shiny paint, chrome and whitewalls.

I was gonna get one but someone beat me to it at the HD dealership. In a way im kinda glad because I bought the 2020 heritage classic in Vivid black with the V107 and the dimensions are almost identical to the Deluxe. When I remove the saddle bags, windshield and rear seat its identical to the deluxe minus the white walls and passenger foot pegs. Best of both worlds, go from touring to cruising.

Hey Jerry, I fell in love back in 2005 with this bike. It made me go and get my license here in the UK, and in 06 I bought my first bike. It was a two tone black and white Deluxe, 137,000 miles later it still puts a smile on my face today. Unfortunately, the new M8 version hardly resembles the original. They even changed the single digit speedo which was unique to the Deluxe.
Still, great review as always Jerry. Stay safe.

I picked one up last year, with glass, engine guards and bags too. After my first long trip I had them add the cruise control. So for me it’s the perfect around town to 300+ mile per day bike. Love the look. Don’t know why it’s being DC’d. Great vid. Keep ‘em coming!

    • @lynnmichel6440

Thanks for the video. IMO the deluxe sales have been in the decline do to some style changes(ugly turn signals etc). I test rode the 2019 to see if the new frame made a difference. The lack of a windshield when riding really took my mind off it. So I dont remember if it was that different from my deluxe. I've had a 2010 and currently have a 2016 deluxe. There seems to be a strong secondary market for the deluxe in my area. My 2016 had 6447 miles only when I bought it in 2019. My dealership looks for good used bikes constantly and the deluxe tops the list of bikes they're looking for. After all that I do love the deluxe but I can understand why people might move up to buy the Heritage instead bc the exhaust is located below the rear axle which enables the larger saddlebags. I've lowered my exhaust on my deluxe to make room for RG hard bags. Expensive upgrade but well worth it.

It really is such a beautiful bike. I'll be honest, when I first was in the market for a new bike, I didn't look at the Deluxe. I was solely focused on the, "cool", Low Rider scene. Quality, thorough video, Jerry! I looked at Indian Chiefs for quite some time (too long!), but picked up a 47K-mile honey of a 2007 Deluxe a couple months ago. Black Cherry, with bags & shield for a bargain-- $6300. I removed the bags and only use the shield when I take day trips here in AZ. To me, it's all about capturing that iconic '50s look of a Harley cruiser: chrome spokes, white walls, low, loud. Pure Americana. You know how you can tell you made the right MC purchase?? When you can't help but turn around and gaze while you're walking away from it.

I fell in love with the Deluxe when they first came out in 2018, bought it and have been converting it into a touring bike. Windshield, standard crash bars ( even bought rear crash bar, came out in 2020) passenger foot pegs, Hammock seat with back rest, heal shiftier, Amazon Chinese saddle bags. I'm, going to pt a touring trunk next with passenger back rest. By the way, I think it was Laidlaws you tube, he said they purposely put a little vibration in the deluxe for nostalgic reasons, I really don't notice it myself. I also like the quieter exhaust, although I noticed they did get a bit louder at 7000 km, still very quiet. I have scraped both floor boards on tight corners. I'm short like you, so the bike fits me great and I can say this would be a great bike for the shorter ladies, maybe you should buy the deluxe for your wife, she probably would love it and you would get lots of points from her. @@smokinjoe6924 So far my M8 has run flawlessly and has actually gotten better after breaking in. I'm 67 and this is probably my last bike. I had Ultras but wanted to go back to bases and I am glad I did. I love the sound of my stock exhaust as well. I wear half helmets so I don't want to go deaf. I see that most Harley riders all wear full covered helmets so I guess they don't appreciate the normal sound. As I said in my original blog the mufflers did get a little bit louder, also I noticed it now runs cooler. I only use AMS oil 20-50 Motorcycle oil. I have ridden every kind of HD from flat head, knuckle Head, Pan Head and evolution. Never rode a duel cam, thought it was over the head for me.

I’ve been waiting for Motorman to do the Deluxe! If that’s the last one I got the second to last. Gator put a Heritage windshield on it and it clashes. It would look way better with the Chrome Screen HD made for it.

I had a white 2020 in my hands and decided not to buy it due to the weight. I foolishly bought a 2023 Ducati Diavel, which was the wrong bike for me. Luckily, I sold it!! I am very sorry that I let the Deluxe go. I am hoping that I will see it at the "HD REVEAL" for 2024!!

They are making a HUGE Mistake if they cancel this. It's a grand slam hit with this bike. This is what American Motorcycle should look like - gorgeous.

Sorry to see it go I wanted one but I am retired now and my wife doesn't work so it is out of my price range. I sold both my FLHRCI and FLSTC twin cams and picked up a low mileage one owner bone stick 98 FLSTF Evo. It and my 72 FLH is my last bikes.

very nice bike the only thing they put those modern looking turn signal light i have an 09 with the old style frame i love it for shorter rides after 3 or 4 hours i need to take a brake for longer rides i take the street glide.if they stop making them you can just get a heritage softail and take the bags off the heritage and you have a deluxe

That's exactly why HD decided to stop making the Deluxe for now. With the Heritage as an almost identical bike the production costs would not make sense benchmarked against the sales revenues. A logic move from a business point of view. Lot of people think it is a wrong decision, but then again most of them own a Harley T shirt and not a HD MC.

I owned a 14 model. Only complaints were extremely limited lean angle, 5 gallon vs 6 fuel tank and no cruise control. Scraping floorboards on simple u turns got old quickly. And twisty’s out of the question. Traded for Road King and haven’t looked back.

Love the Deluxe model, so sad to see her go. Guess the sales just weren't where they needed to be. A great loss for the Motor Company line up imo.

I heard the Breakout and the Sport Glide and clearly they are getting rid of the sportster lineup. I thought they were suppose to be adding to the line up not taking away. They said a xxx? new models over the next few years. What's going to be left.

I guess these just aren’t moving off the showroom floors like they used to. If I had extra money to piss away, I’d love to have one of these in white alongside my street bob. But this would never be my primary/only bike.

I’m 5.8”. Looks a beautiful bike to just cruise, enjoy a low stress out and about on God’s green earth. Life is too short to enjoy this bike long enough. I drive my car with fingerless mits so I’ve always got some sort of glove for the bike.
