So glad I found your channel! I am a heritage Spanish speaker; my father was from Mexico (mother from Ireland). Mi acento es puro mexicano but I have a lot of trouble understanding native speakers. When they hear me speak Spanish to them, they assume I'll have no trouble communicating with them. Not true! Eso me da pena.
Couple of videos were enough to make me say that .....he is one of the best in the field..

This exercise of transcribing El Gigante Egoïste is helping me more than all my other study tools combined! It’s taking me forever, and I’m glad I rewatched this video because I have been missing the step of repeating each line until I understand it perfectly.

FINALLY a resource that is truly remarkable. I just watched this and I feel I learned more than all of the other resources I was using. ¡Hola! Sí. De hecho, aprendí mucho inglés transcribiendo canciones de Pink Floyd. Creo que lo mencioné en el video.
Soy cristiano y queria leer la traducion antigua de la biblia. Al hacer eso descubri que el S era un F, asi que Sobre, era Fobre. Estaba, era Eftaua, lo que significa que aba era aua. Lo que es muy interesante es, caundo intento a escuchar video columbianos, estaba me parece pronunciada como estaba, par verificar mi conclucion mande a mi amigo americano que no sabe nada de espanol que escuche la palabra en el video y diga me lo que escuche y el me digo que era "estawa". Ademas, cuando escuche "sino que mas bien", suena como "sino que maF Vien". Pienso que puede ser que la antigua manera de escribir era basada en el hecho que los sonidos del espanol no suenan exactamente como los letras. Es decir que esta sonido de espanol en Sobre por ejemplo, no es una S ni un F exactamente, sino que algo entre los dos.

¡Hola! Lo primero que mencionaste se llama "long S".
Lo segundo que mencionaste es esto: La /b/ española entre vocales se pronuncia [β], pero a veces suena muy similar a [w].
Lo tercero que mencionaste es esto: Antes de una consonante sonora, la /s/ española se pronuncia [z] en ciertas regiones y [h] en otras regiones. Así que "más bien" puede ser [maz.βjen] o [mah.βjen].
You can just half-screen each window easily in Windows and most all Linux desktops, by dragging the UA-cam browser to one side of the screen, and the Google Doc browser to the other side. MacOS window management is so fiddly and crappy.
