The legend of Star Captain Thor Bekker, called Odin's Claw by the local populace, assembles his finest warriors to make a final push to decapitate the Dragon.
But Tai-sa Okamoto Goro will not have his name stained by the lunacy of a blood-crazed clanner…
Now, the two command units are on a collision course - the victor of this battle surely foreshadowing the events of the much larger war.
With honor on the line for both sides, there will be no surrender and no retreat…

On clan facial hair:
A Question of Survival has quite a few trueborn clan warriors with facial hair. Jiyi Chistu is described as unshaven at one point and Emilio Hall and a few other Ghost Bears are described as having facial hair. The short story Horn and Fang in the Slack Tide anthology has Star Colonel Yvgeny of Clan Steel Viper with a "bushy beard." That's at least 3 clans that have it including Ghost Bear.
Really enjoyed this four part series. Clan Ghost Bear and the Kodiak Mech have been some of my favorite parts of Battletech since I played Ghost Bear's Legacy in the late 90s. Glad to hear the story of Thor, for better or for worse, will go on. In this engagement, the Rasalhague Dominion took 33% material losses and no personnel losses, those are clanner numbers. Now to play some BTA 😏.
"Quest for facial hair!" Very funny - the banter is one of my favourite elements. Also, what a campaign! Loved it, from start to finish. I was hoping Thor's Kodiak would survive a fourth mission.

I will admit, I saw this had been uploaded this morning, and I jumped to the end to see if Thor and the Kodiak survived. I dropped in at the point of seeing smoke rising from its shattered remains, but heard that Thor survived! I will watch the rest of this later today, but I know now that he has the chance of the Bane 7 upgrade now!!!! Great job!

An example would be Galaxy Commander Ramiel Bekker, formerly of Clan Ghost Bear, claimed by Alaric Ward of Clan Wolf prior to the invasion of Terra. It has been mentioned in both Children of Kerensky, and Hour of the Wolf quite prominently. Examples of Clanners who grew facial hair include:

Of course the Ghost Bear warriors can't grow facial hair. That's why the ghost bear hunt is so important to their culture; it's the only honorable way to acquire a prosthetic beard. Great batrep; was gripping the whole way through!

You have some new buildings.
You had a video a while back on the Hardware Studios buildings
and some videos on the Hextec but there's some other new stuff out there.
I'm almost at the point of getting a 3D printer just for this.
I actually like to have a mix of different buildings to make cities
appear more like different people designed different structures.
I also like to put larger more high-tech looking buildings towards the
center with smaller buildings further away. That kind of gives it an urban sprawl
appearance like most modern cities have.

I believe broken units can still shoot when they've failed their morale test, but with a negative modifier.

Great story. As a House Kurita loyalist, I think Aaron made some mistakes in mech choices. However I recognize a couple of buildings from the Hex Tech series from Battlefront but where did you get the others?
Hardware Studios and a random collection of other resin and printed buildings.

Can anyone give some good suggestions for BT-scale fuel/gas tank STLs? I want to recreate a few Mech Commander style locations and want some set pieces that can blow up when fired upon. :) A few of the DFA battle reports feature some cool models, but I can't seem to find them anywhere.
Check out Thunderhead Studios and Hardware Studios! Both have an array of amazing STLs you could make use of!

As a very specific question to you, though: In the video "Classic BattleTech is BACK | Clan Burrock vs Avatar Knights | Post-Battle of Tukayyid Era" at 12:23, the four silos/tanks in the lower right of that second: Do you know where you got those from?
Oh, before I totally forget: Thank you for your Battletech content. You rekindled my desire to want to actually play again, instead of just paint and read. Your reports are amazing and your Overdrive Rules-set is the right mix between fast and crunchy to get and try my friends to play with me. :)

As a small suggestion in return : I just also printed some "Full Spectrum Dominance" buildings from "The Lazy Forger" for use in Alpha Strike and can heartily recommend them as well! The scale is an excellent fit and the sculpts are super detailed and fun to paint.

Another epic finish for Thor 'Core' Bekker, he is a legend in the making. I am pretty sure Clan Wolf will fight to take him as part of their Clan. That could be a good part 2 set of missions.

Just an opinion here, but when you started Turn 5, you should have had to declare which mechs were shooting at which. Allowing the Marauder to shoot first, and waiting for the result, to see if you were going to finish it off with the second mech, sort of defeats the whole “simultaneous/real time” engagement feel to the battle. Those Clan mechs would have been a threat to both at the same time, and if your Katana was exposed to both, he would have had to make a decision on the spot, of which he considered the biggest threat, that is unless, he felt he could shrug off an attack to help the Marauder do his business. Perhaps if you were using an LRM platform (out of LoS, and used in a SBF role), they could have waited to see the results of the attack, before also engaging the same target as the Marauder. In a case like this, a quick “odds or evens” could be used to replicate the Katana’s mech warrior split second decision. Thanks again for the story!!
I’d have to go back and review the turn, as I don’t recall exactly what happened there - but I believe we acted in initiative order?
I think a friend of mine ruined battletech for me. We were talking about it and he said "wait, these things have heatsinks...why don't they have heatsink fans?"
Now all I can see are a bunch of multi ton war machines with CPU heatsinks and fans jutting from them.

Aaron and Tom this was the best campaign battle report I think you have done yet (I just watched the whole thing from 3 months ago). The story telling alone from humble clan cadet to rank of star captain and then each subsequent battle that fed into the next was really well done. Lots of different mechs in play and weapons used. And I find the idea that Thor Bekker returning as a Star Colonel at some point to be fantastic. Also do you guys play mechwarrior online at all?
