Just new to your site & absolutely luv your facing tips to a professional finish to the quilt. Thank you for showing an old quilter new tricks.🪡🧵 Happy Holidays
Please remember that the method with scotch tape OnLY works with a INKJET. If you want to do it with a laser printer make your fabric and freezer paper into a 8x11 sheet. However. It also works just fine to print what you want on laser printer in reverse (mirror print) on paper and just iron it on using a hot iron. This produces an antique look. Thanks for your tips
1st time viewer. Love your idea of taping fabric to the printer paper. I tried making a label by ironing fabric to freezer paper to fit printer. I have a laser printer and the heat just distorted the sheet and didn't work. I will try with just a portion taped to the printer paper. Hopefully that may work.
Thank you so much for watching! I am glad you liked the taping idea. For your laser printer, I would definitely test the ink to make sure it won't wash out. To test this, print a label and take a picture of it. Boil the label in water for 2 minutes. Then hand wash the label. I use dish soap to really test it. Pat dry with towels and iron until it is completely dry. Take another picture to compare to the first. Let me know what the results are.
Hey I made a lable with my inkjet printer everything came out good except it has ink smears on the fabric how do you not have the ink from rollers leaving their mark on fabric. ?
I have not had that happen before, but I run the cleaning and alignment processes on a regular basis. Try printing only 1 character like a comma on your label and print until it is clean on the paper. Then try? Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching
OR, if your machine does embroidery, embroider the info on the front (I usually put it bottom center in the border, in a tone-on-tone color of thread (that way the info is there, but the label won't detract from the quilt). I do something like this: made for John Doe by Jane Doe August 2024 When I take it to the long armer, they just sew right through it. Quilt comes out great, and everyone loves the label (once they find it).
I’m still in the middle of watching your video😂😂 those micron pens yes you do have to have nice penmanship, but sometimes people like to see something in your own handwriting
@ I had to print out washing instructions in Ukrainian so I used your first method and then I took the micron and went over the letters because in an assisted living facility, they wash in hot water multiple times
Thank you so much for watching! The labels I have printed on my printer are still going strong after many years. I do not put anything on the fabric before I print. You can always try some of the products that are available and test against a label that has not been treated. To do this, print the label and take a picture of it. Boil the label in water for 2 minutes. Then hand wash the label. I use a liquid dish soap to really test it. Pat dry with towels and iron until it is completely dry. Take another picture to compare to the first. If you do test any products, let me know what the results are.
Thank you so much for watching! I don't do anything to keep the ink from bleeding or washing out. I use HP ink and it has never bled or washed out for me. I would suggest you make a test label and see if you can try very hard to wash it out. You don't have to sew it on to a project to test. Just print it out and take a picture of it. Boil the label in water for 2 minutes. Then hand wash the label. I use a liquid dish soap to really test it. Pat dry with towels and iron until it is completely dry. Take another picture to compare to the first. Let me know what the results are.
Thank you so much for the question and thanks for watching! My printer is the HP Envy Inspire 7200 series inkjet printer. I am not sure how easily the ink will wash out when using a laser printer. To test this, print a label and take a picture of it. Boil the label in water for 2 minutes. Then hand wash the label. I use dish soap to really test it. Pat dry with towels and iron until it is completely dry. Take another picture to compare to the first. Let me know what the results are.
Thank you for the great video. I also have an ink jet HP. I suppose the ink will not wash out. I saw your comment on testing the ink. I'm a new subscriber. ❤ 🧵

I am so glad you liked it! Thanks so much for watching and happy holidays!
The Sharpie method works better (less bleeding) if you iron a piece of freezer paper on the back first. Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching! The paint markers may surprise you. They are now my favorite method for adding graphics to labels!

I am glad you liked the first method. Thank you so much for watching!
that's a great idea, good for all sorts of fabric crafts given as gifts
Yes, I completely agree. Thank you so much for watching!
I use Micron Pens. They are permanent and archival.
Thanks for sharing this with us.😊🎉

@@Mama_iza_Fanyes, they are great. Easy to write with
Yes, thank you. I use Derwent Inktense pencils.
Thanks for sharing your favorite pencils! I'll have to try them. Thank you for watching.
I use an extra quilt block on the back and write with a micron pen. My mother signs her name and year right on the top, in a corner.
I have done this in the past. It is a great option! Thanks so much for watching.

You are right! I think people appreciate the personalized touch of handwriting a message! Thanks for watching.

I type my label, print onto fabric and then embroider the words and a design on it.
I have not tried that, but it sounds like a lovely idea! Thank you so much for watching!
Is printer ink permanent on fabric? Do you have to use some product to prepare the fabric for printing i.e. bubble jet?

I’ll give that a try! Thanks!
Can you use a Lazer printer to print the label?

You can use anything as long as the ink is PERMANENT and will not run, disappear or bleed.
No, you cannot use a Lazer printer. Only use a back feed printer Not a flat tray. It can jam up your printer.
Thank you for the great video. I also have an ink jet HP. I suppose the ink will not wash out. I saw your comment on testing the ink. I'm a new subscriber. ❤ 🧵
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. Once you test your printer, let me know how it goes. Welcome to the community!
