- Hi guys! Today's video is a little different than our others. Ben and I love you guys and felt like we could share some of our history with you. We are taking you to see our new build lot again...this is the first time we've been out here since the snow melted. It's a little emotional for me....well, I get more than a little emotional, because this has so much meaning to us! Anyway, I'm not used to being this open on camera, but here we go! haha

When we first moved to the U.S, we couldn’t afford any furniture. My dad brought home an empty bucket, which we flipped upside down and mom made a cushion to sit on the bucket. Fast forward, my husband and I just bought our dream home and I am waiting for my “custom chair”. Thank you for sharing your story, it reminded me to count my blessings 💞😊🙏🏽

Thank you for sharing your story. My husband was still doing his Graduate degree, we had 2 small children and I just found out I was pregnant . We had little money, thank god for my parents helping us make our rent. He then got a great job and we could finally buy a car and a small condo. Fast forward 25 yrs and things have dramatically improved but I never take anything for granted. I appreciate everything we have now but my favorite thing ever was that first condo and car we bought all on our own 🌸

We got married and the following day we moved from Puerto Rico to Idaho for my husband's graduate work. At first we didn't have a car and we lived away from the grocery store. At that time, backpacks were not known. We bought a red wheel barrel from the hardware Coast to Coast. It cost about $35. We became known for it. We did all our shopping in that wheel barrel until we bought our car. Our living room was empty for months so my husband went to a furniture store and came home with a sofa. When he told me it would be $38.00 a month I panicked and started crying. e counted every penny and lived frugal. Those are our best memories. I'm glad we went through it to appreciate what we now have.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I literately had tears streaming down my face, while I listen to the begin of this video. Simply because I was in the same situation, plus I knew so many people going through the same situation that guys were. I strongly believe that the pain you feel today will be the strength you will have tomorrow. In the myth of the chaos back then, I recalled the following "Goodness is wisdom and the richest man is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least. I never would've thought you and your husband went through that. You two have worked so much and deserve nothing but the best. Best of luck on everything. In 2008 my husband went to Florida for our honeymoon( we actually got married in 2006 but couldn't take our honeymoon then, anyway) and we could only afford one night at a hotel which was nice the other 3 nights we camped out on the beach in a tent, then on the way back home we had a blow out on the highway. It was already dark and had to wait until Walmart opened to get a new a tire. We didn't budget for that so, we had to sleep in our truck that night. Few years later we run 3 successful businesses combined. We have a house that is paid for and a land on which we plan to build or dream home at some point. Oh, and also 15 years married.
Thank you for sharing your story. The Great Recession was hard on so many of us and sometimes it is nice to hear that others went through it hard too and made it all through. We all made it through. Same as the pandemic. The land is beautiful and can’t wait to see it develop.

I was crying with you while watching this. I so relate to your story. My husband & I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary this year & are currently in the process of building our first home. And not only our first home, but our dream home. We’ve always rented, & been blessed with very reasonable rent, but could never afford to buy/build anything until recent years. But even then, it just hasn’t worked out until a year ago. We have three children & have been in those places where we couldn’t afford to get the things that we wanted or would make things a little easier, I’ve even gone without food to make sure they had enough until I had money to get more groceries. So I totally understand looking around at what is happening in our lives now & being amazed! God has always taken care of us, we’ve always been able to pay our bills, & my husband was always able to find better jobs when it got to the point we didn’t think we could make it much longer, so we are so very thankful for where we are now. It seems like that’s where you both are too. Enjoy the journey.

Hence your sweet success, well deserved. 🙌🏼 Abt the wild fires, I’m from Oregon, use building materials/equipment & a maintenance plan to protect your property. There are incredible stories of houses that survived a wild fire while surrounding structures were destroyed.

We did loose our house in the last recession plus 6 rental houses. Didn’t have income for a year and a half. Bankrupt. And here we are doing good. We did get another house but still paying. It’s just material things.

Im so glad to hear how now your living your dream life. Im from Uruguay (south América) and love what you do. Im also decided to change my life, I have a 2 year old daughter and its not easy in my country to make it month by month, we are almost not able to pay our taxes but I started a gratitud journel and i know im also going to live my dream life and be the happiest I can be. 😘

Have you thought of having a natural water source (pump or well) with a hose to use for fighting fires? Our environment and climate is changing, getting hotter and dryer. Be proactive rather than reactive.

About 12 years ago, when I was a young mom, I cried over orange juice that I was craving, but couldn’t afford… Recently bought a bra and didn’t even check the bank balance, lol. Times change. I’m thankful for those hard days because they have given me the perspective I have now. Gratitude. I am by no means building a house with a view, lol. But, man…God is good.
