Ah man, the memories. I haven't been on this for over 30 years, but I went on it so many times I can still remember every single twist and turn. This was amazing in the 80s, must have been incredible in the 30s, and still looks awesome today. So glad it's still running!
Where did those years go ? 45 years ago I was riding that coaster ! I used to think that first climb took forever . How much was a ride back then ….. 30 pence ???
Used to work at the Pleasure Beach 1973. During the closed seasons me and a colleague (Jackie Gibson) walked to the top and sat down at the release section of the coaster to eat our fish and chips lunch on a bracing winters day. That coaster takes a lot of punishing weather directly from the North Sea, hence in this video you can see the endless signs of round the year maintenance that goes on behind the scenes. Enough maintenance It has its own dedicated joinery and engineering shop built within the coaster just to keep pace.
@@ambermcivor825 omg I went on at 6 and cried cuz of the steep bit lol but now I’m 12 and I love the smiler and vertical rollercoasters and drops and all sorts lol
ah the memories! I first went on this coaster aged 5 sat on my dad's lap can you believe and in those days it had no lapbars! thanks Andy enjoyed this and looking forward to the vlog!
It's a great ride. Smooth enough to not be uncomfortable but rough enough to feel it. Best at the back as you're acelerating over the top of the hills and really get lifted out your seats and into the loose fitting lap bars.
I love this coaster, I know the new ones are faster and technical but to me this is like the difference between a new gixer and a 1960s triumph, slower and doesn't handle very well but bucket loads of soul.
This is the older but slightly smaller sister to the one that was in Barry Island. Built for the 1938 Empire Exhibition in Glasgow (edited) it was dismantled (yes really) and moved to Belgium but at the outbreak of war in 1939 was hastily dismantled again and re assembled at Barry Island where it stood until its final demise in 1973. Rode the Barry one so many times as a kid in the 60s and even beat the world roller coaster record in 1967 on it. Absolutely loved it, and I keep promising myself to ride the one in Great Yarmouth before its, or my demise, I’m now 71 myself. But if any of you people fancy riding it, do it before it's too late, there'll never be another like it. Just fantastic.
My information regarding length is from John WARDLEY and John COLLINS and I defer to their knowledge. As for mirror image, the BI ride had an additional rise/drop before the main rise above the figure 8 crossover, (which was later removed) and which I believe the GY coaster does not.
This is definitely a good roller coaster went on it as a child and went on it last year and two weeks ago on weekend we didn't go on it we just went on arcades as whether wasn't the greatest but your videos are brilliant
I went on this its awesome (yesturday) I was legit screaming NOAH SCHNAPP or WILL BYERS or THIS IS WORSE THEN VECNA!!! Lol second drop is worst lmaooo. My 3yo sis went on and then she wasnt scared but she went on a small kiddie boat ride and said Im so scared ! XD Amazing experience
this roller coaster is both the most terrifying yet fun coaster i’ve been on. the fact it’s wood is really cool but the fact there’s a human controlling it that could make error is terrifying
I had a ride on the Yarmouth rollercoaster in 1961 but don’t remember it that well. It was a big deal back then but has since been eclipsed by bigger and bigger rides, it still looks a lot of fun though. Very nice video!
Visited Great Yarmouth for the first time for May Bank Holiday (2021) and I couldn't wait to ride this! My nephew and I sat at the back twice and both times he got air time. Generally cannot believe how smooth and long this ride is! Loved it, cannot wait to ride it again in the future.
Lovely POV of a classic old lady . For me the Scenic Railway at Margate is the better looking coaster with all it's new wood after the complete rebuild but I must say that this one is probably the better ride . As for Megafobia , I wish we had more like it here in the UK . Wonderful video sir .
I never knew that it’s such a long ride, Yarmouth looks good when you’re that high up...its a beautiful thing, no wonder it’s known as one the best rides in the country.. it’s a bit like some of the woman in Yarmouth..lol😆😆😆😆🐾🦊❤️🎄
My home town, As a kid I lived on the estate opposite the Pleasure Beach. Rumour has it that during the winter months (in the days before CCTV) some of the local kids used to gain access to the pleasure beach and walk round the scenic railway late at night.
hi coaster crazy i just want to say that i love your videos and the content is really interesting also the first time i watched u and theme park world wide was the day before i went to southend adventure island i watched u because i was scared to go on the rage but i did it and i loved it it was just the bit were u go verticley up at the start. p.s sorry for the spelling mistakes
This year in August will be the 3rd time in a row I'm coming here. If you want to go on this,a bit of advice. The closer you are to the front, the less fun you'll have unless you like it that way. If you're near the back, you'll get thrown around more
That’s like that with all rollercoasters because at the back the rest of the rollercoaster in front of you is pulling you forwards. Just basic physics really.
This is a perfect one I remember and it's nothing like the short crazy ones nowadays. Nice pov also a question, did they have the lapbars when you went? I went and they didn't. Excellent video
I don't understand why so many comments are asking about this being Blackpool, as if the title doesn't say 😅 doesn't even look like Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Im from the north west and i went down for a holiday noce views but i was like nar Blackpool a lot better i enjoyed my time down there but nothing like Blackpool like im used to

How come everybody has been on this?
@@CourtMcCheese Lol same here. I've been on it twice as well!
First time on that i was probably about 10 yrs old , been on loads of times over the last 60 yrs, last time was about 3 yrs ago.....still loved it.
Its iconic
It fun I don't want to go on it agin
Airtime on the second drop is great, and surprisingly smooth for a now 80 year old woodie!
The second drop is my fav to
Yes
Thanks for this. Haven't been on that roller coaster in 50 years.
ah the memories! I first went on this coaster aged 5 sat on my dad's lap can you believe and in those days it had no lapbars! thanks Andy enjoyed this and looking forward to the vlog!
Gav Wolves vlog will be uploaded tomorrow but it's not the best as the park closed at 5pm and I only went on 3 rides
Maybe should have gone here before that pleasure wood place.... what a classic ride, give me that over oblivion, Rita thirteen any day...
Gav Wolves what were there?
This was the first rollercoaster I have ever been on and it was amazing
went on it 3 times last week in the dark when they had late night opening , a great experience :)
It does seem faster in the dark lol
Every time i've been to Great Yarmouth we've went on it. Many good memories of that pleasure beach
going again this year :3
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Huge wave of nostalgia just hit me
This was my 1st ever rollercoaster! think I was around 5 or 6. thanks you & Lisa for your great vlogs.
First ever roller coaster i ever went on its really good

This was the first big roller coaster I went on with my sister when I was about 8 I think I love the fact it's still standing proud
Was a brakeman on this in the 70s. Loved my job.
That’s awesome

Fantastic information
The Barry Island and Yarmouth coasters are mirror images of themselves, including the size.
My information regarding length is from John WARDLEY and John COLLINS and I defer to their knowledge. As for mirror image, the BI ride had an additional rise/drop before the main rise above the figure 8 crossover, (which was later removed) and which I believe the GY coaster does not.

Quite impressed how long the ride is!
Larry Bundy Jr it’s really good and probably the most underrated coaster in the whole of the UK
@@Coaster_Crazy I agree
Hello you!
I just went on it 2day, loved it
this roller coaster is both the most terrifying yet fun coaster i’ve been on. the fact it’s wood is really cool but the fact there’s a human controlling it that could make error is terrifying
Wow ! Still there. Its the only thing I remember from Great Yarmouth back in the 70s
I had a ride on the Yarmouth rollercoaster in 1961 but don’t remember it that well. It was a big deal back then but has since been eclipsed by bigger and bigger rides, it still looks a lot of fun though. Very nice video!
Oh nostalgia, the first one I went on in 2000. I made my mum come on it with me cos I was too scared. She hates rides. I made her go on it 3 times 🤣
Rode this many times as a child in the early 80’s. I seem to remember it having a false section of missing track that you went underneath?
That’s interesting
Biggest flex is that I come here every summer bc I live right next to it 😻
Surly if you lived right next to it I would think you would go all the time lol
nice coaster as nearly all modern coasters are not long
I went on it today, my eyes basically popped out my head haha!1

I went on the rollercoaster back in July 2013 in Great Yarmouth.

this feels like 10x faster in real life!
amazing ride, went today the speed at the launch points...amazing
Emporium launch points 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

Great , only ever been on it once!
i would like to see this as an RMC hybrid.
We spent many a times on this coaster as kids, used to love the theme park, not sure what its like now though.👍
Still brilliant. It's Great Yarmouth
Iv been here 2 times or 3 or 4

The roller-coaster from the "house of fun - madness" video
Looks amazing! shame it's 3 hours away... I'd love to ride it!
So... We live 4 hours away and go to gt yarmouth every year
I live like 15 minutes away from this park 😂
All that’s missing is music, SANE sung by FOZZY sounds perfect.
I might go on this ride
Might .... 🤩
I remember seeing the pirates of the snail ride
its a long coaster ! think i went on this when i were a kid
U get amazing views
I went in this bye my self at night and it was just me and the worker 😅
