Screening annually the only way of early detection and effective treatment (Part -07)

In a vast majority of cases, say about 90% of women the body is capable of tackling this STD, but in those 10% of women who have been HPV infected and the infection persists, there would be changes in the lining of the cervix, which are called HPV related pre-cancerous changes. Even at this stage in about 60% of women, immune system combats the disease. However, in the rest, the pre-cancerous stage can grow into a full-blown cancer. Regular screening ensures early detection and effective treatment of cervical cancer due to the long window period.
