I like how they Made Birkin still seem human in the remake and made it to where once he reaches stage 3 he's completely gone, signifying that G-Viris has taken complete control over himm
But if you look closely I say his face on the right of the ribcage just like in re3: og with his mind completely dissolved
In stage 5 his face can still be seen, but it's outside of the train.

Actually if you look closely on stage 2 of butlins form you can see he still has his 2 arms. It isnt changing his body from the looks of it. Its like its growing on him and it grows more and more and by stage 3 his body has been consumed. However I'd say if you destroyed the g virus growing on him youd find his body inside of it but hed probably be dead since if the g dies he dies.
Of all of these, the giant roach is the most terrifying.

Even back then, the Developers did an awesome job.
A lot of the animations were essentially the same compared to now with subtle/dynamic improvements.
Of course, as technology evolved, the graphics did as well.
I remember playing the 1st Resident Evil at 7-8 years old. Resident Evil games are still as stressful haha!

I agree. There's only a few survival horror games which have been able to match the experience from classics such as this one. In the previous generation there was Dead Space but from this generation I can't think of many games other than RE7 and this one. The first Evil Within was good but they messed up horribly with the 2nd one

Honestly though, they did a really good job of re-imagining the monsters without neglecting the original game.

Yeh that was probably his perfect form. But after that he got too damaged and the virus shifted its attention from perfecting to just doing everything it can to infect someone else so it could start a new.

What I like is that they didn't just redo the old designs with a new coat of paint, but actually altered them in pretty significant ways. This is a REMAKE, not a REMASTER, and it shows
The graphics design of today had no choice but to blow the old model design away. To much time has passed to allow for an epic comeback, which we will not see much of these day. To bad all the remasters wont look and play this good.
The removal of some old favourites like the spiders were a shame though, and G Stage 4 was easily a step down from the original. But overall the remake, not surprisingly, looks better. Better tech does make for better visuals obviously.
I liked the designs in this game, most were faithful but modernised. They did a better job than RE3 remake imo.
THey changed it a tad too much and left out entire sections.

@@ynog0978 It died just as quick and easy in the original. It just seemed slower because you had a walk/jog cycle. Shooting it was a waste of bullets so I waited until the explosive thing, shot and that was it.

I love how Birkin gradually devolves to a giant pile of goop. By the end he looks like a giant pulsating mass of exposed muscle and bone. If I ever mutant into a hideous monster I would want my final form to look something like that, tentacles and all.

He likely devolved as a result of catastrophic damage received. He got so injured he couldn't quite recover and so it lost control and mutated into a huge blob.

I was confused about why they chose to remove the eyes from the final Brikin form in the remake, until I noticed them on the shoulders, and realized thereafter that that version actually DOES retain a semi-humanoid shape, with the two eyes sitting atop what look like shoulders. I now no longer want to look at it, since now it actually looks more like its crawling toward me, rather than dragging itself along.
Love this game.
Honestly, we need a '98 DLC where all the enemies are polygonal. The skins are already there for Leon and Claire, so why not the other characters and enemies?
There are MODs with them already. Feel free to try them.

When it comes to the William Birkin’s 3rd stage, the original has more appealing slender proportions but the new one has a more intimidating, monstrous look. Either way, both versions are still pretty awesome.
Former Birkin's 3rd form is wrong in this video. It's from scenario B, the fight on the lift to the underground laboratory. In scenario A you fight with 2nd form in this place, so the form from the video is like 2,5 haha. Birkin's 3rd and 4th stage is in the final battle in scenario A and he looks more similar to the Remake version.
The OG G3 form was going for more of a ultimate lifeform look.

I like that they just generally gave him more of a personality. He'll crack his neck during chases, push zombies out of the way like fucking nothing. There's even a subtle frustrated look in his animations when you stun him. Hell, it's easy to miss, but at one point he does a super hero landing. I find it fascinating how he's very organic and not at all robotic and yet he was created just to follow orders and fuck shit up. Another thing, he's normally completely mute and yet the Super Tyrant vocalizes, it roars. Why only then?

I know people hate the remake version of Birkin’s stage 4 form but that form scares me the most he has little arms growing on top of his arms and legs and eyes on top of eyes like scares me the most
Personally I loved the stage 3 Birkim in the remake. It's design is awesome. As for the stage 4 well I kinda like the remake. It's animation shows how his virus instinct drove him nuts and acting like a brutal, hideous, blood-thirsty monster.
Dunno, why people "hate" the 4-5. To me it looks like a sensible evolution to his previous form, logical look to it, and...yea, it just makes sense to how it looks unlike the old one, and I personally prefer everything that is in remake, it just looks better and logical.

And they did not disappoint, except for the arrogant old re2 fans. If you look closely, G4's body is pulsating, growing extra limbs around its body, and its degraded appearance can imply it's a forced evolutionary state from trying to heal the extensive damage G3 was dealt. Its decrepit, degraded, yet beastly new form symbolizes the loss of mind in trade for sheer strength. And then G5 symbolizes the prize G has paid for trying to heal such extensive damage beyond not even half a G4 body remaining.
I never realised how faithful to the original design they managed to stay.
A minor detail i love with The original birkin is The mutation each step goes though. Birkin was shoot mostly in his right arm. Wich is why that arm get bigger then The rest of his body. Stickning to the lore that The G virus mutates faster on wounds. Even in G3 his right arm is slightly ahead of the rest of his body. Just a cool detail

That doesn't even make any sense. You diehard nostalgic fans are annoying af. The new remake is 10x better than the original. The original had crappy tank controls and polygon 3d character models with bad camera Angles. And yes I can compare both games graphics-wise even if it was made a long time ago. IDC if the older systems had restraints.
1:17- Honestly, I prefer almost everything about the remake's Lickers except their teeth. The original's teeth are more unsettling imo because they're at least by comparison relatively closer to human.
The remake version reminds me more of Pennywise's shark teeth from 2017's *IT.* For many *RE* mutations, I find something vaguely human or humanoid creepier than something fully animalistic.
As an extra nitpick, the remake Licker's brain could've been a little less swollen, looks too much like a balloon. Part of what made the design eerie was how it resembled a quasi-realistic exposed brain.
Keith yes this is what imentioned in my comment! Very sad w those changes in the remake. Not sure why theyve always butchered or changed the lickers look, theyre iconic.

I like his fourth form in the remake because it truly slows just hiw crazy the G-virus mutations become when the host is severely damaged.
Honestly would’ve fit as an in between for G4 to G5. I would’ve loved to see the quadrupedal G4 in the remake.
You know what I love about the music for each Birkin stage, the music grows more and more messed up as his mutations go out of control.

A brief synopsis of Birkin is that the govt, for whatever reason tried to take away his invention, the G virus. He was shot attempting to escape with it, then injected himself with the G virus.

As far as I'm aware, you can't avoid killing the Lickies or knocking out Birkin. Every time you somehow drop him from a great height, he'll return in a stronger form.
PS- I'm not a player, my knowledge of games comes from Let's Play videos and Wikipedia.

The game explanation is the G virus becomes more and more unstable the more it is damaged.
In the remake G1 sometimes covers up its eye, in which case shooting at his head is the best method. This destabilized his human head, allowing the new G2 head to take over.
G2 was heavily damaged all over and nearly died, so it had to grow new skin and bony plates all over for protection.
G3 took shots to all its eyes and its chest, almost dying again. This sets it on a downward spiral from G4 to G5 where it becomes more and more twisted and disfigured.

@I.S.T Not really because when you defeat G4 in the original it deforms into a blob. That makes more sense to me. The G3 to G5 made much more sense. Defeating G3 he falls over and further mutates going quadrupole, its chest turns into a mounth growing larger spikes, then when takes too much damage it's no longer able to evolve, but instead deteriorated into a limbless mass.
