Wow, Alex. Thanks for the review. Seems like a great boat and motor combo.

Headed to get my new PWR 129 in a week or so. I've been trying to decide between the NK180 or my old Newport Vessels 36 lb thrust motor that I've been using on my Jackson Big Rig. Thanks for the review on the rudder steering. I'll have to use the controls on the motor as I'll be on rivers with my PWR and have tight turns. thanks again!

Grats on the new PWR! The NK180 is awesome, Ive been running one for over 2 years now. Absolutly, attach the rudder lines directly to the motor for better control and tighter turning.

What's your top speed with the 180? I''m a big guy at 240 and I know with my weight and all my gear that will have a big impact on top end.@@tgcanoesandkayaks

Good overview. I just picked up the PWR last week. Swapping my NK180 from my old kayak to this. It’ll be interesting to see the speed when it’s rigged with gear.

    Wish it was the NK300.

NK300 will give you on average about 2 mph more top end speed over the NK180

Alex, do you think the same setup would work with NK300? (NK300 is in stationary lock and you use the rudder system)

If you mostly will be going straight with minimal turning, it may work fine. Doing 180 turns at mid to high speed, it will not be capable as the Nk300 will overpower the stock rudder. Tie rudder lines directly to motor for optimal turning/control with the bigger motors.

@@tgcanoesandkayaks Sounds interesting,. Do you plan to test the NK300 on the PWR129?

@WarEagleTheBest I wish, however, i do not own the NK300. I have a Torqeedo 1103 that I will be testing this week.

If you want 6.5 mph, throw an NK300 or Torqeedo 1103 on it.

Have to say.... Not impressed with the speed.... And it's not even fully rigged out.
The $1200 Xi3 will do 3.9 to 4 MPH on most fully loaded heavy kayak setups.

@@tgcanoesandkayaks Exactly! We own all the motors we show on UA-cam. None are perfect and none are a bust. We do like being pushed or pulled on open water, which they all do. After that, it's personal preference for each kayak owner. From a makeshift-rigged 30# thrust Minn Kota to the 3 HP Torqeedo, all are useful. The different characteristics make them unique and individually/personally desirable.
