When you keep your car well maintenance, it should last you a very long time. I tell people that I take care of my car and my car take care of me.

    Mine is automatic too, so I wanted to see how you did it. Great, confirmed what I was going to do, but I was scared it might break gearbox mount. Thanks a lot mate!

    FYI, I was able to torque the front bolts of my control arms with the car on the ground using a 1/2" drive, EP Auto 25-250 ft. lb. torque wrench, a ten inch extension, and a 19mm, low profile nano socket by Astro Pneumatic Tool. The wrench is about $40 on Amazon, and so is the socket set.

      Now I'm going to have to tilt my hat to you on this repair. Way to go! I was thinking maybe i needed one of them drive onto the ram lift, like the one they have it at the alignment shop. Then i'm able to get under the vehicle and get a good leverage on that bolt.

      @@donkeykongchang I just wanted to recommend those tools if you don't have em' already. They came in handy for me, like your videos.

    Never seen anyone unwind the jack so hard to slam car on the stands.. be careful man
    Those 2+ ton jacks can go down slowly if you unwind it slowly.

    HI Mr. Chang! First thanks a lot for the video, it helped a lot changing my right lower control arm! quick question did you need to do an alignment after changing both control arms? Thanks in advance for your answer! Cheers!

      I am glad the video had help you out. You do not necessarily need an alignment to drive you vehicle. But i would advise to get an alignment done. Your vehicle will be slightly off whenever there is a repair done on the alignment system. This will cause premature wears on other part of your vehicle, such as the tires.

    • @necridkee

    Did you have any trouble aligning the bolt near the oil pan? I can't seem to get mine into the last hole. Is there a trick to it?

    • @donkeykongchang
      @donkeykongchang  4 роки тому +2

      I had replaced both my lower arm assembly and alinging for the three bolt is the hardest part of the repair. It did took me quite while to install the lower arm off camera. What i found to work best is screwing on the first bolts in the rear (be on 6:11 of the video). Once the first bolt is on, you can move to the second bolt which is on the front (be on 6:32 of the video). Once the second bolt is on, you can then work on the last bold which is under the hub/knuckle. For me, it had to be in this order to work.

    For the love of god does anyone have the part number for the bolts and nuts that go from the control arm to the crossmember? I have an 05 lancer oz so i’m assuming they’re the same. all I can find online is the rear bolts. I’m trying not to use the same old bolts if I don’t have to

    Hi Kong what are the symptoms if i need to replace lower arm left and right assembly...What about the rubber bushings itself is that only need to replace??

    • @donkeykongchang
      @donkeykongchang  4 роки тому

      The common symptoms of bad control arm bushings and ball joints:
      - Clucking Noise
      - Steering Wander
      - Un-Even Tire Wear
      - Vibration
      The whole control arm would need to come off to replace the rubber bushing. You mine as well replace the whole arm with the bushings and ball joints. Both the lower Arm were about $70 each on amazon.com when i did the repair on this video. If you wanted to replace just the bushing, then you will also need a special tools to press the bushing out and back into the arm.

    After I turn my wheel the control arm doesn't slide in like yours , should I hammer it in ?

    • @donkeykongchang
      @donkeykongchang  4 роки тому +1

      This part of the repair was difficult and time consuming. I did not use a hammer to install the lower arm. It just took me multiple try before i was able to install the front lower arm assembly. The order I had shown on the video seem to work for me. You might have to give it a little push to go in.

    • @donkeykongchang
      @donkeykongchang  5 років тому +1

      I bought my Lower Arm Assembly’s off Amazon a while back. They were $81.29 each. I’m pretty sure if you look around online you probably find them for cheaper.
