Cutting matless is really the only big difference between the Maker 3 and Explore 3 than the Maker and Explore series machines. However for a long time the only company with vinyl that would work for this off mat cutting was Cricut and lets be honest we know how we feel about their vinyl and HTV. So when Teckwrap came to me and asked if I would try out their new 13 inch wide vinyl for off mat cutting I jumped at the chance.
I think you will see in the video some of the great things about this vinyl and some things that maybe are not amazing but workable! So lets jump in and do some off mat cutting!

If the vinyl is stiffer, should I use more pressure for cutting?
Typically yes. Every once in a while I find one that doesn’t work that way. But it’s rare
Hi I just bought techwrap vinyl to just on Explorer 3 but the one I bought is 12"x5'. for that size I ve to use a mat right? Can I use 2 12x12 mats taped together for this cut? My lettering is 21.5" long by 3" wide. thanks
Yes you need to use a mat. I personally have not had success taping mats together but lots of people have
Is your vinyl exactly 13" wide? I find smart vinyl is just shy of 13"
None of it will be exactly 13". Even 12" vinyl isn't exactly 12 inches

@@dianegostkowski1 the only brands I have used are cricut and I will never use that again and teckwrap,
@Corinne Blackstone I just upgraded to a 3 gave my daughter my maker I havnt tried smart vinyl yet because I hear it's crap lol
@@dianegostkowski1 it is literally the worst vinyl I have ever used. I had to use it for a video I made for a company and I wanted to cry and tell them I wasn’t doing it the whole time. And the worst part is I kept the project and Al the vinyl started to peel off but I had made the same project with different vinyl to test it and it was still perfect
