That's a really cool sound. I wouldn't call it fat, but there's a richness to it. I like that you don't seem to lose the clarity of the snares-off tone even after turning the snares on. It's a great match for that kit, too.
I normally use a coated Evans G1, or Power Center Reverse Dot, or Remo Ambassador coated. I can't remember what I used on this one, but I''ll have a look through my pictures to see if I can find out for you.
That snare has a nice fat sound to it. It appears that you don't have a mic on the underside of the snare. Is this correct? Also, it's good to see you growing your hair back.
