    Every thermal vs highlights? You got it right, the video ended up the right length. I don't want to watch a 5 hour video, yet you showed plenty of soaring and discussed decisions. Excellent.

    Best glider videos for other pilots! I, as a young glider pilot (100hours total, got my license one year ago) can really learn from your videos! And you mention every thought and why you do something, which is very nice and helpful, keep it up!

    Great format for detailed flight breakdown. Not boring as my 3hrs+ videos. Appreciate all the work you put into this to share the flight with us!

    I enjoyed it all. The commentary was especially fitting, your thought process tied the video together nicely. Put me down for “full flight”, Ben!

    Great to see all the thermals. Would love to see a little more cockpit video of you entering/centering the thermals instead of cutting away to the sportstracker each time (split screen?). Thanks for the great detailed videos!

      That's a good suggestion. I'll try it.

    Excellent production, SEVEN! I enjoyed every thermal replay and especially the LX9050 overlay. How do you do that? Hope to speak to you on the radio today, it looks strong.

      Thanks Chris! I'm using the LXNav desktop simulator to replay the IGC file.

    Great flight! That camera angle is awesome.
    Where is the pitot on your ship in relation to the tow hook? I was flying 1CH behind green tow on Monday and noticed that the extra large whiffle ball on the rope was blocking some airflow into the nose mounted pitot. On tow I was reading 45-50kt while flying 70 (according to green tow’s ASI). Once off tow the 1CH airspeed readings appeared correct.

    • @BenHirashima
      @BenHirashima  Рік тому

      Thanks! My pitot is on the tail, so the whiffle ball probably can't affect it back there.

      @BASE1127 Рік тому

      @@BenHirashima Hmm. I'm flying green tow again next week. I'll be sure to get a speed check or two against other ships to see if the ASI is in the ballpark. Thanks for the note.

    Btw, great landing at TRK. Usually I intentionally overshoot, I never even try to make the turnout. It's terrifying airport - very squiggly last 50 feet.

    • @BenHirashima
      @BenHirashima  Рік тому

      Thanks, Val. Landing long is a pretty safe way to deal with it. It takes a bit more time to get off the runway, but it's usually not even that busy at the end of the day there.

    Great video! Would you recommend the use of a transponder when passing through class D airspace? Commercial aircraft sometime can’t see you.

    • @BenHirashima
      @BenHirashima  6 місяців тому

      Using a transponder is always a good idea. ADSB-out is even better.

    What is that data insert on the top right of the screen, and where does it originate?

    • @BenHirashima
      @BenHirashima  Рік тому

      I think you mean the white box in the upper left when the 3D visualization of the thermal is being shown? The data comes from the GPS log recorded by the glide computer. The data is displayed by SportsTrackLive. I put a link in the description.

    • @russell3426
      @russell3426 Рік тому

      @@BenHirashima So this is a phone ap from which you have taken a screen capture and inputed it into your video? Or you uploaded the IGC log from any device, uploaded the file to the website and produced the data later to input the data to the video?

    • @BenHirashima
      @BenHirashima  Рік тому

      @@russell3426 It's not a phone app, but a website that I uploaded the IGC file to. The website displays the data, and I recorded the screen from the website to put in the video.
