Nice presentation Laura :) Alder is perfect for shields as it is uniquely water-proof - the last thing you want is a damp and rotten shield :)

Many alders grow along the creeks where I live. Always being careful not to trample the small creatures who blend into the creekside environment, I love to walk along these creeks. Being among the alders I feel their protection and wisdom. Sitting next to an alder along a creek is indeed a wonderful place to let go down to what really matters and to receive real natural strength. In addition, the odds of connecting with faery are good! You've inspired me to get back out there. Thankyou!

I love trees! I grew up around ancient woodland, played there as a child and the garden at my childhood home is mostly a spinney so I lived with the trees-almost in the woods really for many years. Great video :-)

Excellent video - you had loads of information which I omitted from my video about alder trees as knowledge of this tree isn't expansive online.
Loving the spiritual / folklore aspects you included.
    Subbed.

They're everywhere around Seattle- I'm told they're the first trees to grow in poor soil, improving it for others later, so it's like they bring bare ground under their branches, under protection.

I started to feel love for trees ...always like them but this was different. ..if branches were damaged etc it's like I felt it like pain etc...I now see that it's part my path but didn't even think about witchcraft at the time...many things naturally led me to it!!! Thx for your videos lots info that others don't offer...you are beautiful ...all the best...

Hi Sophie, that sounds like a good idea for a video :). Yup there are a good few books out there. Also if you can find and Open Pagan/Wiccan group in your area, you can go to Open Rituals to get a taste of what it's like. Spend time in nature, tune into and follow the cycles of nature, the seasons and the waxing and waning of the moon. That's a good place to start! :) x

Oh! I didn't know :) in that case, enjoy learning, spend time enjoying nature - there is plenty of time to learn the rest. X

pipes and whistles are made from Elder rather than Alder. There is no pith in alder. Love the videos though!!
