Another fab video chris - always with an enthusiastic smile and full of brilliant tips . I tend to over lift my saddle and I get back pain if I do - now I actually understand why - I’ll do the other measurement checks tomorrow but looking forward to the saddle width home measure hack - keep videos coming chris they are really excellent
Thanks so very much for this video. The cable hack for the saddle back and forth adjustment saved me tons of research! Thanks a lot. You have such a positive attitude.
Thanks, I'll just go and check. I put a new saddle on last night - a Brooks short leather/titanium. I usually use Cambium but I'm hoping this seat absorbs some vibrations!
I have lately seen a picture of a lot of crocodiles (!?) which should have invaded a Brazilian coast some where! Hopefully not close to You? I still use the original Brompton saddle on a too short standard length, titanium saddle pin. I have a longer titanium seat post with an expensive, leather covered, Selle san Marco racing saddle, which I preserve to a better time, when not needing to bring my bike round as folded. It is too long for being really practical. And I seldom ride that far on my Brompton to need a Bike Fit. Finn Denmark.
Hi Finn Carl Bomholt Sørensen Thank you for worrying about me. It was film at Pantanal, Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul. It is a wetland in the middle of Brasil tha has a great variety of wild animas, Many birds, alligators, jaguars, snakes. It is amazing . A must see place. Keep Safe! Keep Riding!
In my opinion, Brooks leather saddles should not be level but have the nose tilted up slightly due to their inherent curvature as the leather bends. That way the seat bone area at the back of those saddles is then relatively flat. I use a Brooks B17 Flyer on my Brompton for the added benefit of the spring shock absorbance.
Hi Graemeelliot Interesting fact. I've never had a leather Brooks saddle. Mine is made of rubber and works better if is level. If tilted it loses the support for the Ísquios. It looks hard, but it is my most conffortable saddle Nice to have you on board!
One thing I’ve been working on is looking for a better shock absorber - I wonder if there is a pneumatic one that improves comfort - I’m using the funny shaped spring one that broke on your bike but it feels the same as the standard one - and as you know Brompton feel the bumps even at 90 psi (as per your other video )
Hi Rob Hemsley I feel that the soft suspension block makes me a bit dizzy. But I'm use to the hardness of the road bikes. If I would need more comfort, I'll look for the Saddles that have a shock absorber built on it, like the original Brooks models. There is, also, some seatposts with a shock absorver built on them. This way you will get comfort and a steady bike. Nice to have you on board!
Hi Chris! Do you install a Brompton Saddle Height Insert on your bike so that Everytime you pull the seatpost it will be on the correct height that you like? Or do you just use your intuition everytime? Thank you chris
I've just fitted a Brooks C17 on my Brompton - its bloody awful - I've tried every position but its one of the most uncomfortable saddles i have ever sat on - worse than the Ergon i tried - I have found that the best saddle is a very old one i took off one of my Trex hybrids . its flatter and you can move around it easily. Its better than the original saddle i got on my Brompton and Im switching back to it and selling my C17 - never again !
Hi Rob Hemsley Saddle is a very peculiar upgrade. We do have different bodies and different Ísquios distance. In my case, the C17 carve is the best saddle I've ever used. But we must always choose what is best for us. Good to know that you found a saddle that feels conffortable for you. Keep Safe! Keep Riding!
@@ChrisbyBike Hi chris I don’t get it - I went out again tonight - on it and it was better after I really roughed it up in my hands first - but I used in my younger years to be a pretty good road biker - I was in a cycling club in the Uk and pretty good at it - now I am old and retired - I have 7 bikes and recently fell totally for Brompton - I can’t stop riding on the bike - I’ve stopped using my road bike and I really cannot explain why - but the brooks saddle just isn’t working for me - it’s sticky and hard and really takes the fun of the bike - I like to slide easily to balance the bike on corners and the brooks is sticky rubber and you can’t do that - it’s also v hard and hurts by back - I’m really pissed off with it - keep making your videos - they are fab !
Hi Rob Hemsley Yes, there is a cotton top layer on the C17, and it is sticky. It is made by galvanize ruber cover with a top cotton layer. On the original Brooks saddles It takes more than a month for the leather to give way. And it is very uncomfortable in the first month. Congrats for your racing carrier. Riding a bike is fantastic. I have a race bike, Touring bike, 2 regular bikes and I'm selling my MTB. I do confess, The Brompton is my favorite! I think is because it is very versatile. It goes fast and it gets very small. No need to leave out side. Have you seen the new 3D printed saddles? I'm very curious about how conffortable they are. Keep Safe! Keep Riding!
Hi John Amstrong That's true, we all have different bodies. The C17 is my favorite saddle of all times. It fits well to my body. Nice to have you on board!

Hi Crazy Little Bike Girl
Yes, I do have a plastic sleeve insert to make it easy to find the right height.
