    A package of twine ( two balls ) will make approximately 500 bales.

    It looks like you are using a DJI drone. Are you using the active track, spotlight or both while filming the action?

    • @HumbleAcres
      @HumbleAcres  2 роки тому

      It is a DJI Air 2. I have used the active tracking before but I am doing 4k 60 now and it doesn’t work when filming that high res unfortunately.

      @@HumbleAcres I have the same drone and plan to video mowing my 2nd cutting using two-cylinder John Deere tractors next week. I just bought the drone a few weeks ago and experimenting with the active track and spotlight. To get sound I have to do the screen recording but don't like all the extra stuff on the screen.
      Thanks, enjoy your videos.
      BTW, as a kid I used to rake hay with the same rake (I think John Deere) you are using!

    Looks like for the deere you need to swing the drawbar on the tractor over to get the hay closer to the inside of the pickup. We have to do this with all our tractors to get the baler over far enough.

    Looking pretty good! Hardest part about baling with a letter series two-cylinder like that is the transmission driven PTO. Makes it really hard to stop and change gears, since every time you stop it will stop the baler. A 60 with live PTO, a 620 or 630 would run it a lot better. Only thing I can notice is that you may want to rake your windrows a bit tighter so that the baler can pick it all up. To those mentioning to move the drawbar over, while that's a pretty good idea, just make sure that it doesn't put too much stress on your PTO U-joints. I wouldn't think it would unless you make a hard left turn, but just something to be mindful of. Other than that, that Massey Ferguson sure puts out nice bales.

      @@HumbleAcres yeah, that's typically the case with old equipment. It likes to be worked. When you keep using it, it keeps everything shined up like the pickup, bale chamber and knotters, and it tends to work better.

      @anthonyhengst2908 2 роки тому

      Exactly.... We use a John Deere A on our John Deere 14T baler all the time the "no live power" is a little inconvenient but not a deal breaker.

  • @LouisGodena
    @LouisGodena 3 роки тому +3

    I noticed too that PTO was not hooked directly to the A, but was on a swivel extension. Was that because of the 3 point?

    • @HumbleAcres
      @HumbleAcres  3 роки тому +1

      Thats just how the bailer is so you can make sharper turns.

    • @keltonwright7
      @keltonwright7 3 роки тому +2

      Just puts less stress on the u-joints when turning sharp as he stated and makes it easier on the tractor and whole driveline.

    The rear tires are adjustable on your a john deere. When you rake your hay make your windows narrower ,and as strait as possible. You won,t leave so much hay on the ground.

  • @LouisGodena
    @LouisGodena 3 роки тому +5

    Those windrows look a little weird. Like the rake didn't make full or complete windrows. The A does a fairly good job considering you don't have live PTO, Thanks for sharing.

    • @aaronfarr4753
      @aaronfarr4753 2 роки тому

      Yeah the non live PTO is a pain. That’s where the John Deere 14 series balers with the overrun clutch built into them really shined, you could run them with an A or B and not be fighting gears and being pushed by the momentum of the baler.

  • @fredbaumberger8988
    @fredbaumberger8988 3 роки тому +1

    The drawbar on the John Deere is adjusts from side to side so you could have moved the baler over

    The reason for the hay not getting in the windrow is that you needed to finish it like you did then go around backwards to get everything into one row. The next time you mow this field you make get plugups on the sickle from the hay still out there.

  • @kennycriswell141
    @kennycriswell141 3 роки тому +6

    Back on your raking video I made the comment that I would like to show you the correct way to rake hay. Because of the way you raked it is why your missing so much hay. Your winrow isn't tied together. Even though someone replied there's no correct way to rake hay.

    Goot! Nice job baling. I liked how you used the machinery noise for the drone soundtrack instead of the music, keeps that song from getting stuck in my head. I also noticed you removed the loader from the Kubota for baling. Not sure that's needed, but it sure looks better!

    • @HumbleAcres

    Don’t cut the jack, weld a piece of pipe on top of the baler tongue that will fit the pipe on the jack. You have plenty of clearance between the baler tongue and the pto shaft. The sleeve the jack will attach to doesn’t have to be mounted on the side of the tongue. Nice to see the old MF baler in action, but ya, daddy would have whipped my butt if I left that much hay in the field, lol. Takes time to learn, great video.

    Looks like the A does a good job but without a live PTO it may be a pain. The rake or raker operator needs some work. A lot of hay was left in the field.
