@@spaghettisauce445 true but false, they would have discovered weed eventually. I think Dylan was more of an influence on Lennon. Pretty much every song Lennon wrote after meeting Dylan was a reflection on his own current state of mind.

In I'm Looking Through You, like in Oh Darling, Paul is expressing a lot of emotion in the vocals because he seems to be singing about something that affects him in his relationship with his girlfriend at the time Jane Asher.
As a Beatles fan since 1963, Rubber Soul is my favorite album.

Rubber Soul was the perfect springboard for Revolver. It was the shape of things to come. I think more than any other album I’ve listened, throughout my lifetime, to Rubber Soul the most.
It doesn't sound anything like revolver but more like help "what goes on i'm looking through You if i needed someone nowhere man

@@attentiondeficitsquirrel7660 Don’t worry man I completely agree, and know what you mean, many people consider revolver the turning point and it’s a great album and without a doubt is. But at the same time rubber soul really was the turning point or rather transitioning point of what we got in 62 to what we would get on the later records. (Edit: an even better way to put it would almost be it was the last album where they were the Beatles before that turning point)

@@zakpullen8113 of course, however I'm not a huge fan of theirs. They have always been the establishment band/artist much like Mozart to the exclusion of all others who were as good or even better.

"Rubber Soul was the group’s first release not to feature their name on the cover and the stretched effect of the cover photo came about after photographer Bob Freeman had taken some pictures of the group wearing suede leather jackets at Lennon’s house. Freeman showed the photos by projecting them onto an album-sized piece of cardboard to show how they would appear on an album cover. The unusual Rubber Soul album cover came to be when the slide card fell slightly backwards, elongating the projected image of the photograph and stretching it. Excited by the effect, the boys decided that was how the cover would look. McCartney conceived the album’s title after overhearing a musician’s description of Mick Jagger’s singing style as “plastic soul.""

Help! was the preceding album and contained Ticket to Ride, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, Yesterday plus Help! It should get credit as the bridge album that lead to Rubber Soul, Revolver, and beyond. It probably doesn't because Capitol destroyed the U.S. version by making every other song an instrumental from the movie.
Agree and Help the album also had The Night Before and I Need You .Help was a very underated album but in recent years has got the recognition it deserves

I was too young to appreciate the change but Rubber Soul is my favorite album.
Rubber Soul was the turning point that led to albums like Revolver and Abbey Road.
It took me a minute to realize that Ringo was referring to the way caterpillars turn into butterflies. Of course, beetles don't become butterflies but Ringo's not a stickler.

Rubber Soul is the album where The Beatles music was becoming more sophisticated. It even inspired Brian Wilson to create the album Pet Sounds. That's what made The Beatles THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME !

I got it in 1966 , around Christmas. But mine was the American version. "I've Just Seen A Face " was the first song. Today I have the British version, as my original one is worn out. I love it too, but I always miss " I've Just Seen.." !!😊
I truly ❤ the way Rubber Soul was mixed with various sounds and vocals completely on the left or right channels. Still stands up ( surpasses ) anything going on even by today's fidelity standards. My ear buds really make this sonic seperation extremely apparent. Long live the Beatles!
I remember when I first bought the album all those years ago and was delighted to discover I could turn the vocals down on the left speaker ( left headphone to ) while signing along to the backing instruments and my first real discovery of experimenting with music.

Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Abbey Road are timeless and cannot be listened to too much. Throw the movie soundtracks in there too: Help!, A Hard Days Night, M.M.Tour, Yellow Submarine, etc.
Nowhere Man is a ++ theme song of mine. The lyrics spoke to me and got me through a lot of afternoons when I was a kid. I still sing it when I am by myself! This really touches me. Thank you, Ringo. Peace and Love! ✌️☮️ ❤ 🫶
Well said, Ringo, and such a lovely analogy. I am glad that my very early years had this music as a backdrop. Or soundtrack even. It is quite fascinating for me to reflect that I lived during those years and was aware of the Beatles sound in our household. And was sad as a young schoolboy later, when they broke up as a band.

Rubber Soul and Revolver are my favorite albums. They are Part 1 and Part 2. The Beatles at their peak and when they were still having fun and loved each other.
I always saw Help as their proto-departure record. It was the blueprint for Rubber. But you could honestly say that about any Beatles album. They just kept getting different & more innovative.
True, Rubber Soul was definitely a turning point,,they were writing about their personal lives. The Beatles sound was starting to change with Help songs. Paperback Writer their change really took off.
Rubber Soul is one of my favorite Beatles albums, and one of the greatest albums ever made. From the very first moment I heard it, I completely understood where the Beatles were coming from. They didn't wanna be cute anymore, and they let the world know they wanted their music to be taken seriously. That's why I'll always love The Beatles.
And when I saw the new album cover during a shopping trip with my Mom..is when I started to become a butterfly also… I KNEW things were changing…✌🏼❤️

I would say this is my favorite Beatles album.
I grew up with them & the first album I bought was the one on VeeJay with the brown suits.
I also got to see them at Candlestick Park when I was 11. And contrary to popular opinion I could hear enough (over all the screams and tears) to have their song order memorized back then. I also saw Bobby Hebb and the Cyrcle & being it was my first concert, I remember that as well.
