Another tip: for a better/easier connection between turnouts, a custom curve would probably be best for that function. The custom curve allows for more fine-tuning adjustments, and so would probably allow for more accurate placements/connections.

Each block is one meter along each edge, which is divided into sixteen pixels. I measured the gauge in pixels and converted it to inches. I don’t think it was exactly 7.5”, but it was close. 3:30 for points/switches if you have the angle set to 11.25 and the length at 112 and space them 1 or 3 blocks apart respectively, they will line up almost perfectly, when they're 3 blocks apart just get a 6 long straight track and line it up with one of the points. It looks good and works well. This all works the the default placement of tracks
The problem in a practical scenario arises when you have long coaches traveling over back to back opposite curves. The problem is often more pronounced in model railroading but you end up with weird misalignments in coach/carriage bodies.
I think that cars in real railway (Europe, standard gague) have 150 m minimum radius (and 80 meters if the car is pushed slowly). It fits the observation about usable radius quite well.
I just found out that in the train config in the thing there is a non full block placement and if you use the golden spike without the blocks outomaticly under it makes very very steep track.
How about tips for track elevation how do you decide what the standard height for your rail way is how do you deal with inclines how do you decide on destinations and finally how to do turn them around without breaking them?

Say, what do you think about returning to the idea of using this mod with survival, but using a mod that generates ressources like the train preset in factorio, so far away that for any serious production you would need to use trains for transport? Obviously, with some special block you could use to generate more than the normal amount of blocks, with the goal to build some ridiculous block using a custom recipe in something like a giga crafting table or whatever that is called. Absolutely ZERO remote teleporting tech of any kind, only immersive engineering cables and fuel transport for energy, all that.

7:25 You can also click the spike a couple blocks higher or lower to get curved slopes
just a little extra tip 6:56 if you wan't the turntable to turn the other side, you just right click it while shifting
Same shift click logic goes for cycling through liveries with the paint brush!
An interesting thing that I discovered is that the “model” gauge is roughly equivalent to 7.5” gauge, the most common gauge for live steam models.

I turned off fuel in the config menu but for some reason it only works for steam locomotives.
you have to press what ever button it is to start the diesel's and i think electric trains for it to work without fuel.
