as a person who spends a lot of time following IRs development and has learned basically all the ins and outs of IRs working, TrackAPI(the system for path following that IR tracks use) is really forgiving, tracks can overlap, not quite line up, and generally have some funkyness going on and the trains will still work, if you want to see a good example of how to get tracks to do things you want and look good while doing it, look at Doffen did it on the Jernbane map, also I would recommend using the latest test build as the most recent release version had a lot of performance issues and the current test build runs a lot smoother

"Fixed" - The Track Blueprint's "starting block" (the part that has collision) will firmly stick to the block grid. "Pixel" - The Track Blueprint will use a smaller grid that matches the size of the block texture's pixels instead of the block grid. This has a "Pixel Locked" variant that only really matters for the cardinal directions. "Smooth" - The Track Blueprint will use a grid so small that it's practically smooth. Also has a "Smooth Locked" variant. 4:12 Yeah, that button isn't the best way to navigate the styles list, and it can get worse depending on what resource packs you install
Just a tip csx, the tracks may not line up cause of the Minecraft limitations. They may not appear lined up but they are. You also can over lap straight tracks and that won’t have any negative effect.

12:55 The Polar Express was based off the 1225. It is located at the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, Michigan, and it was built by Lima Locomotive works in 1941. The SRI was previously a railroading club, but were forced to create the SRI if they wanted to keep it after restoring the engine. It is one of the few remaining Berkshires in the USA and one of the only ones still in running condition. :3 I went to go see it for summer vacation. The SRI is hopefully going to be doing excursions this year.

@@Matthew-oi6kz Technically yes, but the pretense of someone making an E2, and everyone being like those seagulls from Finding Nemo saying “Thomas?!?!” instead of “Mine!” ,has dissuaded people from doing so. IR doesn’t support Trains with Faces, but we never have said anything about creating models like the Railway Series forms for the engines without the face.

The folks at the Virginia Transport Museum in Roanoke are super excited for it. Closer to the season opening they'll probably be MORE than happy to get you set up.

When I saw your playthrough, I decided to give the mod a shot. Pretty fun, but not very practical due to how long it takes to start the trains... by the way, do you know how to start the diesel trains? All info I've seen just says to open the throttle, but after leaving it with the throttle maxed for a few hours, it never moved or used any fuel.
I almost screamed when I saw the decapod and J class. I also love the Strasburg Railroad and I just went down the other week to see 611 (and I did a whistle blow on her!) She's still at Strasburg and will be there until October so if you can definitely go down and visit her. She's a beast of an engine!
I will note, there is one way to make UA-cam recommend a channel, watch the channel's videos in entierty, which is what I'm gonna do to make sure that things don't slow

I've always been more of a plane guy, but trains are dope as hell too And this mod is really cool, like i would love to make multiple towns and cities and connect them with railroads that can hold cargo and people for travel, like a red dead redemption type thing
Idk if you're still lookin for a tiny tank engine for the layout, but the classic Hornby Smokey Joe is always an option of you're doing HO/OO scale. That's currently my first loco I got (just got into the hobby) and I just finished the base coats on a custom paint job I'm doing.

The track types come with your installed resource packs and if you look at "Position" in the track GUI if set it to smooth you can perfectly line the two tracks and make a crosssover.

I have always wanted this train mod. If there was an end of the line for the tracks you could run the engine round the train (changing the locomotive from one end of the train to the other) and run tender first back to where you started.

I live right down the street from the Strasburg railroad! if you like trains I would defiantly recommend coming, there's an awesome museum across the street and a massive indoor setup down the road.
Look into Steamtown, Scranton PA!! It’s a little funky because of Covid, but they have a whole bunch of train related activities. Delaware water gap in fall is my personal favorite.

I think you need the immersive engineering mod and then you need to put in biodiesel fuel
I prefer not to use diesel trains as me and everyone i know closely all belive steam trains are the only real trains and that diesel is cheating

If you open config using the divide button on the numpad and find the requires fuel option and set it to false, you don’t need to wait forever anymore

Idk what you mean by that but there are diesel and steam locomotives in the base mod.
There are modded resource packs for this mod so i am pretty sure there are definitely some in those.
