    OTHER NOTES
    ▶ For the epoxy application, I used three coats of TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy (link above), thinning the first two coats with acetone. Once that cured, I gave the surface a light sanding and applied two coats of TotalBoat Gleam 2.0 Spar Varnish in gloss, followed by two coats of satin, per their instructions.

    I love both of their Troll Voices. Wes' Troll still has to wear his head gear (ARE YOU LOOKING AT MY HEAD GEAR!?!?) I think Jimmy and Wes' Trolls need their own podcast where they break down everything that is wrong with their own videos. Call it "Actually, That's Factually Inaccurate".

    I continue to be amazed by your creativity and skills. You truly have the ideal situation: your vocation is your avocation. I'm more than a little jealous!
    I'd love to see you do a clock project that replicates the one on the Hudsucker building from the movie "The Hudsucker Proxy". It has such an Art Deco vibe.

      Thanks! Yeah, I thought of that later and I tried to come up with a way to connect those scenes in editing, but unfortunately I couldn't make it work. And my Audrey II voice was terrible, so it got cut. 🤷‍♂️

    Yay! haven't even watched it yet and I know it's gonna be good
    So at the beginning when you're straining to open the ring, why didn't you just close the vise jaws, slip the ring over them and then open them up? The ring is clearly large enough to fit.

    This is fantastic, really nicely put together and well considered at every step. How would you ship something like this? Do you end up building custom crates for lots of your work too?

      Thanks! I sometimes crate if it's going by one of the commercial shipping companies. This will be part of a shipment of several items, so I'll hire a private shipper, who'll take it door to door and ensure that everything is wrapped and secured properly.

    Yeah don't breath the zinc fumes, I agree with yourself.
    Actually, if you needed to do tons of these, maybe etch off the zinc with muriatic acid and you'd get better welds. Not so much about the strength, as it is about how easy it is to make look nice and clean up with a grinder.

      Yeah, in another case, I might take the time to do that, but these welds are hidden and don't need to be that strong. 👍

    Always great to see your process. Did you hand cut the paper template? And his are those ferns doing with the hot glue fertilizer?

      Thanks! Yeah, I print templates out at Kinko's, glue them to posterboard to keep them flat, then cut out what I need.

      @@misterhat5823 I'm going to have to disagree. All of the maker channels I've seen are basically useless aside from inspiring ideas, and most tend to just regurgitate what is popular at the moment. I like to support makers who do something different, or who inspire me with different tools and techniques. Those whose content I enjoy I like to support so they know they are appreciated and they don't quit. As far as "teaser and shill videos" he only adds a couple more minutes to the Patreon videos, so this is hardly just a teaser. And I was joking about the meaning of the rocket ship and three ferns, the Patreon video ends the exact same way as this one. That's his sense of humor, which is one of the things I enjoy about his videos.
