    I have a suggestion to make the sides of the bed stand up better: On the first row of the side, work sc into the front loop (the side of the "v" of the stitch that is facing you as you work). That way the sides will lean inward more quickly. Then do a sc into each stitch for the rest of the side.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  3 роки тому

      yes this will work fine. Working in the front loops will stretch the stitches out over time with the weight of the pets though

    Been doing these for a couple years now sith a slightly different technique. Using 2 or 3 strands of worsted weight yarn and size J hook & start with 6 rather than 8 sc into ring, increases are done the same. When reaching required diameter we build up the sides until twice as tall as needed, then roll sides down to make it more sturdy. My Stitch Group friends and I donate these in various sizes to animal rescue centers in Florida. They line them with paper toweling for bird, kitten, puppy, squirrel, etc rescues

    Thank you so much for this pattern. All your tutorials are wonderful! I have some yarn that I ended up not liking for the project I wanted to do, and it will be perfect for this. I don't have a dog or cat either, so will make a couple for the animal shelter near me for the upcoming winter. Cats will be cozy!

    thank you for the pattern to follow but I did a little something different.. When I was ready to start the row where you go up to make the basket.. I did only the front loop.. or the one closet to me all around with SC and then continued up 4 inches.. then I did the front loop only and started the last 4 inches of the bed.. doing the front loops only on these two round really helps for it to stand up straight and bend over.

    This video is AMAZING. Thank you!!! Question! Could you do the base as you did (single stitch) but do double stitches on the sides? Would it go up as normal? I like the sides higher up but it's taking a long time to finish and thought it would be easier to do double stitch instead!

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  4 роки тому

      G'day audreybieber1 THANK YOU and thank you for your comment. You can d it that way but the double crochet is such a tall stitch that it will offer no stablitliy, the only way to help it would be to have tight tension with the double crochet by having a smaller hook

    You can avoid the flat sides look by staggering the increase stitches in each round.

    • @megangiselle
      @megangiselle 8 років тому

      You can also further stiffen the sides by turning the sides by doing a row of BLO single crochet and the doubling the rows to match the side count.

    • @megangiselle
      @megangiselle 8 років тому

      I did make a dog bed of sorts from your Granny Square Bottom Bag. No handles and I crocheted more rounds to make it very long. I used 2 strands of cotton yarn but it's floppy. They lay on it doubled, or I open it out and flatten the bottom and then puddle the sides to make a nest. They can also crawl inside it. They are Doxies, so they like to tunnel and be covered up.

    Are your pattern's available on "Ravelry"? I just started trying to keep track of my projects on my "Ravelry" Account. I hope it works.. anyway I am working on this bed now. It is a "Barter" with my Dog groomer. I'm making a bed for her pup that is expecting her first litter. I have always wanted to make a bed for my pets. So this is my first attempt. I linked to this YT and to your Website Page. I'd like to link it to your Ravelry if you have that also.... I added one row of BP SC To make a "Ridge" once I had the base area completed, I just started on the walls now.... I think it will help it to stand up more? I hope anyway. We shall see.....

      10ply is the same as worsted in america and most other countries like red heart super saver, patons worsted, and 8ply is the same as double knitting yarn or dk yarn. 4ply would be fingering or sock weight. I know the US will have worsted weight with the number 4 on it and it will say that on some other worsted weight yarns as well
