I´ve been finally delivered the Blacktop Strat with one piece maple neck two days ago and it´s just fantastic! It´s very versatile, playable, resonant and it´s actually smaller than on pictures and vids. This guitar and my Hot Rod Deluxe is a perfect combination for any music I can imagine. Thank you Mr. C & C, your demo was an immense help.
I have the Blacktop Strat identical to the one Chappers is playing. Totally awesome. Hot humbucking pickups in the 1,3, and 5th positions. Positions 2 and 4 coil tapped. And a drop in volume but still a badass guitar.
I love - LOVE - these two guys. As a player myself, it is always great to watch someone who obviously, genuinely loves to play - and loves their work. I can't work out if - quite possibly - I may also hate you guys...nahhh...love ya. Hope to get to the shop soon.
Just got a 2018 Fender Standard limited edition Telecaster in Shoreline Gold, it’s an amazing guitar. My limited edition Fender Jaguar in Shoreline Gold HH, is on its way.
i have the blacktop tele, and mainly play modern rock/punk/metal. The pickups can be super clean or get nasty hot depending on what you play through and your volume/ picking. I am also using a EHX Metal Muff which makes any guitar sound metal. The tele seems to do well with all types of effects for me.
Man, I haven't heard Thundercats since I was a kid! Up until today, I forgot all about that after school cartoon! Oh, ya, cool guitar and I like the dueling solos. I didn't realize the Captain could play some smooth blues chops!
Chappers & Capt. If you had to pick a Tele with humbuckers which of these is a better sounding Tele. The new Tele Blacktop or the 72 Deluxe Re-Issue Tele? Thank you and keep pumping out the great vids.
My personal opinion on HSH guitars is a find myself using the middle pickup less than I'd like to, and it gets a bit in the way of my picking style. I love the nifty switch configurations and sounds from the HH. Just from my experience, Cheers!
This couch looks like too narrow for the two of you :P You look like one of those interviews with whole band, where always there is lack of room to sit for a bass player :P
I've heard some sinister chuckles in my time Chappers, but 5:12 quite possibly tops them all. Also - more jamming with you and Lee in future videos. It's great!
@BraydonSzafranski Whatever you guys did for the mic'ing this video, the bass came through excellently.

Chappers always fails with the specs: "This is a ceramic pick-up ?..." "... I think you're right... hot vintage _AlNiCo_ humbuckers" Captain Lee really robbed him in that style - really smooth touch !
i really liked the parts when you guys where jamming/duiling, those guitars look great and classy, and they sound great too! im not getting paid to say this :P (i wish i were though)
Hey tim, i cant tell you about the HSH but i have a wonderful black top jag which has P-90's in instead of humbuckers and it's lovely to play, especially the neck, and has a good tone. It's also relatively cheap:)
@Skate4LifeJW no their actullay pretty light, atleast compared to a les paul. its really comfortable to play standing up. the body itself is the heaviest thing and its not even that heavy really.
Question/request. Im trying to figure out difference and relevant information regarding the comparison between a Fender Stratocaster / Jaguar / Jazzmaster who all would have single coil pickup configuration - could you do a video about this? :) .. I know you have done this video, but it brings up information about humbucker configurations
I just bought a blacktop tele online for crazy cheap last week. Its a decently contructed instrument. The neck feels much wider than other teles Ive owned. The fingerboard is also fairly flat for a Fender (its not like Jackson Dinky flat, but pretty flat), but still comfortable to play. The coil solitting option is awesome (the Captain is wrong, the tele does have coil taps via push/pull tone pot). The only real drawback about these guitars is the pickups. They are godawful. Loud and muddy with almost no low end definition. I have to dial in a ton of treble on my peavey classic 30 just to get a usable tone out of the bridge humbucker. The neck pickup is completely useless. Ive bought a Duncan JB/Jazz set that ill be putting in as well as a brushed silver pickguard. Overall for the $350 I paid id say this guitar was well worth what i paid.
Any chance of a demo of your Jaguar 90? There is only one on youtube and (no disrespect) the sound is poor. Very interested in how the Jag sounds. Cheers
These guys are great guitarists and blacktop series are great guitars w/ some electronic/pickup upgrades.. any decent guitarist can make any guitar sound great. blame your fingers for sucks big time
Not top-hat knobs... Pretty sure they're just called amp knobs... just FYI:) Also, I didn't realize these got across the pond so much later. The Blacktops must've been out here in the States for a couple months, I think:/ They do look great, tho; if I still had my old job (at a gear dealer), I'd probably have one or two by now:S lol *sigh* Anyway, great vid, as usual, fellas. Gonna' go find part two now:D
strat looks dumb with the 2 humbuckers, but sure sounds very very nice.. i'm thinking of buying a blacktop.. i tried the jazz and jag at a shop, always loved the shape, but i'm starting to like the tele more and more.. now, in my opinion, the jag sounds better than the jazzmaster.. it sounds thicker.. does the tele feels and sounds more or less like the jaguar? they have the same electronics, same fetboard etc...
I was just wondering, are tele's neck heavy? because im interested in buying one and i hate neck heavy guitars, im only young and i find them extremely hard to play standing up.

I have the Sonic Blue with the Mint pic guard. Amazing guitar.

I played a red blacktop Telecaster at my local music store.
God. I fell in love with it.
NICE chops El Capitano!
Nice blues jam guys. Nothing like cranking out some sweet blues on a fender guitar.
i have played these at a local music shop here in the USA. I love them. AMAZING guitar for the money
your improvising always amazes me
Watching this in 2019, these guys haven't aged a bit.
Hi I’m from the future, In 2021 I can also confirm that they haven’t changed a bit
Chappers' blues style is so epic! But I love Anderton's layed back chill style. Priceless!
Man that jag can scream well I'm addicted ordering one as soon as I can
Man that looked like a fun jam, You have a pretty sweet life these days Chappers!
Awesome blues jam. Love it.
Best intro EVER
you're right and it's never struck me before!!
I love - LOVE - these two guys. As a player myself, it is always great to watch someone who obviously, genuinely loves to play - and loves their work.

great tone and playing !!
they sound fantastic! beautiful

Gotta love the Chappers face at 3:42 haha :)
Man, I haven't heard Thundercats since I was a kid! Up until today, I forgot all about that after school cartoon! Oh, ya, cool guitar and I like the dueling solos. I didn't realize the Captain could play some smooth blues chops!
Tele was by far the best, thinking on getting one... It sounded SO much better then the others :P
lol the random cartoonish sounds at the end FTW !!!!!!
Thundercats! All those repressed childhood memories are coming back to me now.
That Fender amp sounds really nice.
i ordered the jag today as a present for myself (free shipping day and whatnot) and I'd be glad to demo it when it comes in if you like.
Love the blues complete win \m/
Chappers & Capt. If you had to pick a Tele with humbuckers which of these is a better sounding Tele. The new Tele Blacktop or the 72 Deluxe Re-Issue Tele?
Thank you and keep pumping out the great vids.
The large Fender Headstock started in 1965 on the Stratocaster. Fender Stopped using the large headstock on the Stratocaster around 1981.

thanks, i might wait for the ML-7 which is going in the direction of what kinda guitar ive been looking for, its going to be insane!
7:58 OMG, that telly just turned into the hulk!
Blast from the past
I look forward!
I've got a blacktop telecaster (red one) and It's mye absolute favorite guitar in the world! It sounds great with the Fender Mustang V små
This couch looks like too narrow for the two of you :P You look like one of those interviews with whole band, where always there is lack of room to sit for a bass player :P
AMAZING SOUND! and absolutely awesome playing! if you don't mind me asking, what amps are you guys using? :)
Man, I haven't heard Thundercats since I was a kid! Up until today, I forgot all about that after school cartoon!
@orfmor I played some ska on the Tele blacktop today, and it sounded terrific!
I've heard some sinister chuckles in my time Chappers, but 5:12 quite possibly tops them all.
Also - more jamming with you and Lee in future videos. It's great!
tasty licks at the beginning
@Zubirrex wow you sure know how to like different genres of music! thumbs up to you!
Problem with filming is that a camera adds 10 pounds. In this video Chappers has eaten around six of them by the looks of it
I'm torn between the Blacktop Tele and the Tele Deluxe 72 Reissue. Love the Strat headstock. Great video.
Lovely Jam
Good Presentation, with British Humor! Thank's both of them.
@BraydonSzafranski Whatever you guys did for the mic'ing this video, the bass came through excellently.
Chappers always fails with the specs: "This is a ceramic pick-up ?..." "... I think you're right... hot vintage _AlNiCo_ humbuckers"
Captain Lee really robbed him in that style - really smooth touch !
I just got that Tele today at a local guitar shop for a bargain because it had a bit of damage. Sounds wicked on my Mark V.
I'm glad Damon wasn't there. I like it with just good ol' Capn and Chappers!
Five years on and I get a Blacktop Tele - a Tele with 22 frets AND humbuckers for £449.00.
Yay me!?
7:31 YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
i really liked the parts when you guys where jamming/duiling, those guitars look great and classy, and they sound great too!
im not getting paid to say this :P (i wish i were though)
Oh man I really want that Strat... In sonic blue preferably
I like the cap'n's BB king tone and feel.
Thunder....Thunder.....Thunder...THUNDERCATS HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
@hobomick I never stop learning dude! ;-)
The Tele looks like it's straight from space xD
Hey tim, i cant tell you about the HSH but i have a wonderful black top jag which has P-90's in instead of humbuckers and it's lovely to play, especially the neck, and has a good tone. It's also relatively cheap:)
strat with humbuckers = awesome they need to make more like that
Very nice guys. Thanks
@budhabuddymaister It's called Part 1 dude - Part 2 is to come ;-)
@Nickpatient Why are you having a go at me? I'm on your side mate.
Very nice. I like.

The blacktop tele doesn't have a push-pull tone pot, I have a bone stock one. Yours must have been modded by a previous owner
Any chance of a demo of your Jaguar 90? There is only one on youtube and (no disrespect) the sound is poor. Very interested in how the Jag sounds. Cheers
You think the Tele can get a real high gain tone, almost like metal?
Thundercats = EPIC WIN!
These guys are great guitarists and blacktop series are great guitars w/ some electronic/pickup upgrades.. any decent guitarist can make any guitar sound great. blame your fingers for sucks big time

if you want a cheap jim root tele, buy the blacktop tele (black with maple board), and just replace the pickgaurd with a white one, and get some emgs
lol nice with thundercats intro. XD
@Sniddelwoods the strat is available in maple fretboard
Thundercats for the win!!!
The metal strat \m/
Blacktop Strat Hardtail = i would buy one ;)
@benzakonium I'd assume that they can be splitted, since the Strat has coil-splitting as standard.
I want that tele! Not a bad price either
Just ordered Blacktop with Floyd Rose :)
When's the Chapman Guitars Telly coming out? :)
Chappers: are these ceramic humbuckers?
Captin: Yes they are hot vintage ALLNICO humbuckers.
is anyone else catching this at 2:47 ???
I was just wondering, are tele's neck heavy? because im interested in buying one and i hate neck heavy guitars, im only young and i find them extremely hard to play standing up.
@benzakonium You can coil tap any humbucker if you get the wiring diagram
@trainofthought82 Yes it's mandatory ;-)
how much was the black top and do you guys still have them in stock?
@RobChappers Do all the blacktops have to be that out of tune? : /
I have the jaguar, its sounds really good but its the kind of guitar that needs a good amp to get the beat sounds out of!
Is there a way to get this backingtrack you played over ?
@Sniddelwoods
i think feel is more important than looks when it comes to fretboards
how do you think either emgs or seymour duncan blackouts sound in either the tele or the strat??
more than likley, it'll happen regardless. Every pickup I have owned with nickel or chrome plated has corroded or rusted to some extent.
@JosephODonnellMusic I'm not having a go at you. It's just that calling him witty is a compliment. :)
I want that strat and drop it down a full step :D
