Metallica has always had a talent for writing lyrics that make a chest punching impact, this one shining a light on a topic no one wants to talk about and the Internet censors.
James was initially very insecure about his vocals and in the early 80s, the possibility of Lars being the band's frontman was considered and soon after the idea was rejected, but then they tried another target and John Bush was invited by Metallica to join them as a vocalist. Shortly after the release of debut album Kill 'Em All, lead singer James Hetfield felt insecure about his own vocal abilities. Hetfield wanted to focus on his guitar playing and personally asked John Bush to join Metallica. Bush was the only vocalist the band considered as a potential leader. He turned down the offer because he wanted to stay with his band, Armored Saint.
My only complain with this album is the absurdly loud high-hat. Once you notice it, you can't un-notice it. Sometimes I can't believe these types of things make it past the mixing phase. Album is still great, though.
Like the mid section on INAMORATA Lars just hitting them at that somber moment with Rob... could've had it lower in my opinion... but... still ROCKS🔥 🎸🥁🤘🏽🔥
I’m not even sure where to put this, so I’m dropping it here pre-release. I love your attention and appreciation of guitar solos, always spot on. And I was watching another of my favorite channels do Godsmack for the first time..and I was thinking of all my favorite guitar solos as a GenXer myself. So stop me if you’ve heard it but if not…and it’s a far cry from ‘Tallica, but if you have never heard it you gotta do Green Grass and High Tides from The Outlaws. Even as a southerner I didn’t hear this till my 40’s and it blew my mind. There’s a phenomenal live version even longer. You will so get it.
This album has the odd moment where you think you’re in for a good song, but then it fizzes out and ends up sounding similar to almost everything else on the album. A very promising but ultimately very disappointing album overall.

This album is so good. Many great songs: Inamorata, Room of Mirrors, 72 seasons.. WIll be a good ride
