I think going through core content after you have played them initially, and have got the gliding and mounts by playing the expansions later... will make it easy for you to traverse a territory that you already enjoyed the way it was designed to be enjoyed... so you just enjoy the mounts in those good-old-areas without really missing much. Take the time to read the inscriptions in the signs, follow the conversations of the random NPCs discussing something, notice how some "medium size" siege weapons of the Lionsguards has a clever and artistic design that resembles a lion... notice the shady place where an NPC goes after ending an event.. and why. If you just rush to the next shiny thing in the map in three raptor jumps... all disappears.
In my opinion, do it in order. The only real push to do Path of Fire back in the day was that it was the only way to unlock the raptor early. With the raptor now unlocked early game, you'll have more than enough to navigate the treacherous bramble valleys of Heart of Thorns. Not having all mounts unlocked lets you get immersed in the exploration the way it was initially designed to be. Good Luck. Have Fun!
Also i would recommend doing the story in order. You get the raptor for free anyways when you purchase an expansion so you dont really need to immediately get into PoF.
What too many new players do, is they ignore the details of the game while leveling, as the lower level maps are all so easy to complete with little to zero effort. The leveling experience is your opportunity to learn how the game works, how your profession (class) works, and how each weapon and utility skill works, including how choosing different traits effects your performance to maximize your game play. So we have way too many new players who get to max level and complain that the developers of the game didn't teach them anything and they now don't have the skills and knowledge to play the end game content. If you don't rush, and you pay close attention to everything in the game, you will learn what you need to know to succeed in all of the end game modes. While leveling, if you don't understand something, ask the community, look it up on the wiki, or search for answers on UA-cam.

the big dragon boss is a world boss in End of Dragons (11:30) most of the time you get the best information about skills from the description text at the top. all the stuff below is just the specific numbers for what that text describes for the /wiki command you can also ping an item after it with shift + left click instead of writing it out heart of Thorns was made without mounts in the game so everything there is doable without them. Mounts can make the maps a lot easier, but they also sometimes make you miss entire parts of the map by just jumping past them. Heart of Thorns maps are definitely some of the hardest maps in the game both from the enemies in them and from the navigation so in the end it is just up to you if you want to bother with that or not. I would advise starting with HoT first and if you get tired of it just go into PoF to get the mounts.
Sounds good! I haven't fully decided yet which way I'll go. I'd really love to see the story play out how it's supposed too. But I also don't want that to make the journey miserable just to play it in an old school nostalgic way. Just have to see what happens when I ding 80 on this fresh character.

@vincetxwa That's exactly why I don't want to skip ahead just because it might be a bit easier. I don't want to risk being lost in what the story is telling me or a character I might not know or a huge event possibly getting spoiled because I skipped forward. I'm pretty certain I'll be sticking to the vanilla experience. I have a raptor but that is given when I buy expansions. I won't be getting any others until after HoT more than likely as people really want to see the progress as it was intended and I also came into this game with that same mindset as long as it's not a huge inconvenience to my time of course.

I'm just gonna answer your questions in order. Mob order of difficulty goes Normal, Veteran, Elite, Champion, Legendary and Epic. The actual difficulty varies depending on what expansion you're in mostly. The fight with 49 people in it was a zone meta in End of Dragons. The skill tooltip you had a question about was Head Butt, a Berserker ability. You stun the enemy for 3 seconds, yourself for one second and it fills your adrenaline bar fully. That allows you to immediately go into Berserk at the start of combat and force it again every 20 seconds. That means you're almost always in Berserk. I disagree with MightyTeapot about renown hearts. They are needed for zone completion, which can potentially net you some nice rewards, and you have to complete all core areas to get Gift of Exploration, which are needed for all Gen 1 Legendary equipment. You're experiencing choice paralysis with Runescape lol.
All of this was extremely useful information. I have been told skipping out on hearts may not be smart by a few people now. The good news is I have been doing one or 2 from time to time just to keep it different while I'm playing. I have to go through all of my points and abilities as well. TONS to do lol!
Champions in Core can be soloed. Champions from HoT and onwards hit hard and have a lot of health. From IBS onward all Champions also have a timer and when it reaches 0 they despawn and the event fails.
He says to ignore hearts but my advice would be to go for map completion on some of the earlier zones. It's rewarding and you can get some good items once you finish. It makes all the exploration feel worthwhile. Hearts can be repetitive or annoying but they usually don't take very long. Give it a try! There are good open world builds but I'm sure you could come up with something you like that works. You might as well grab some vit and life leach traits/skills if you're trying to go up against Champion monsters. You will get a *lot* of gear that looks useless but it's not. Salvage greens and blues for the mats and sell yellows on the market. Oh and if you see a commander icon on the map that means they want you to join their squad. You can do that by clicking the icon. They're running events and are generally very helpful so join if you're in the mood. Finally remember to eat. In real life and in game.
Ohhh I eat wayyy to much :D Yes, I've been going through the gear and making upgrades where needed. My inventory is always clean too. Pretty easy when I'm just exploring around and killing a couple things during events. I usually end up in a town somewhere during exploration and just sell whatever junk I had and salvage at the same time, then back out there! I also have been doing some hearts. A lot less this time around but I do sometimes just to keep it different.
@@MangyB4033 I agree with you about salvaging the blue and green gear he gets, if that gear isn’t better than what he is currently using, or gear that he can’t equip, but I disagree about selling the yellow “rare” gear that he gets. Unless the trading post instant sell price is more than what two “globs of ectoplasm” are worth. If the instant selling price is less than two ecto’s, IMO, it’s better to salvage the rare gear (if you can’t use it as better gear than you currently have equipped), because you have a chance to get between 1 to 3 globs of ectoplasm from salvaging any gear that is level 65, or higher. Lower level gear, under level 65, is usually better to sell on the trading post. When salvaging rare gear, ALWAYS use a Mystic salvage kit, or the unlimited Silver fed Salvag-O-Matic kit that maximizes your chances of getting ectoplasm globs and also increases your chances of getting upgrades out of the gear.

@@MangyB4033 “PoF map completion is relatively painless, but that is not the case for HoT” I know that very well from first hand experience. It was worth the effort, but it was a long grind.
It's good to see you come back to the game. If you want to follow the story and jump into HOT as your first expansion, there are few things to point out. 1) Going solo is really tough especially if you don't have mounts. Many of the foes hit really hard, have CC/kiting skills, and fight in groups. Make sure your skill build is set up to counter these (ex: carry a 'stun break' skill and 1 or more CC skills). Playing with at least 1 friend is recommended in order to do all of the activities. If you go solo, you can either ask the map chat for help or follow peps whenever an event is going on. 2) The terrain is very tricky with multiple levels. It is also divided into specific regions with their own quests to complete. Because of this, you'll be spending quite some time in one area to hopefully remember the terrain and complete all of the events. 3) Lasty, the game introduces the new Mastery system and it can be confusing at first because you don't know which ones you'll need to unlock first. There is an 'efficient' way of unlocking them in a specific order so that you won't be wasting your precious points. If you do mess up and run out of mastery points, you'll have to find other ways of unlocking mastery points via your achievements. So in conclusion, if you don't care too much about the story and would rather play casually, I'd say do POF first to unlock your mounts. It will save you a lot of time and headache in HOT. But if you want the raw progression experience of GW2, then go straight into HOT and play it how it's supposed to be. Grab some friends or guildies to help you fight and or guide you during confusing times. It's quite a learning experience. You'll feel like you've leveled up in real life through many trials and errors. Many awesome battles await! :D PS. Sorry for the information overload. If it sounds like I'm talking negative about HOT, I'm not. It's actually my favorite expansion. I believe it's good advice to give a new player some details on what to expect. Hopefully you can avoid the mistakes I did so long ago.
It's great seeing you on the channel again as well! Thank you for the tips. I believe I did go into HoT for a brief moment to unlock my glider but then life got in the way and was busy. I did notice it was much harder there. I'm actually starting over and going to do the whole personal story once again as a refresher but this time I should level much faster as I have a much better idea of what is going on in the game. This will also allow me to go back and see things I may have missed as a fresh player. Watching all of these videos really helps as well just because I learn so much better when someone explains what I need to do rather than a game telling me. I'm just to stubborn for that, especially with all the information Guild Wars holds lol. We'll see what happens whether I stick to the raw experience or not. Maybe I'll go live and hopefully get some people to help me that way like before. I think this game has extremely fun content for live viewership :)
Do NOT do PoF before HoT. Yes, the mounts make it easier to navigate, but it almost gets to the point where it trivializes it. Mounts did not exist when HoT came out. I'd suggest you try to respect the original experience as much as possible. Nowadays you get a raptor at lvl 10, which also used to not be a thing, but the point of HoT is how dangerous the area the expansion takes place in is. Having a mount to pretect you from everything kinda defeats the purpose of the experience.
I agree. I can't make any promises because I don't know how hell it is there but I'll do my best to keep the experience as genuine and raw as possible as long as it doesn't drive me insane lol.
@RisingReap Much appreciated! New episode either today or tomorrow on playthrough. Much more Condensed and shorter just to see how that style does compared to the longer ones.
Of course you can do HoT before PoF. Doing PoF first is for lazy people. You should experience the story without having OP tanks to ride on. The feel of the jungle will be 100% different if you go in for the first time with mounts.
@@ImSnowden I won't spoil it because it's story but you really get the feel for it if you play like it was inteded to be played. I played from 2014-2016 so I experienced the launch of HoT and I've come back like 4 months ago and been playing at least a few time s a week. Nothing I've done really compares except Lowland Shore from the new expansion because it's so fun ,so visually spectacular, music is again awesome, etc. HoT is my favourite expansion, followed by Janthir wilds.
Later on in the game with the End of Dragons your junk could be worth something because you can get a bot that with give you mats instead of the junk...

@mooseaf3515 Yes, that is what I meant. I may have worded that badly, but from what I understand, most things are shared account wide. It's definitely a perk, so you don't have to transfer through all your alts. 😁
I can see what I can do to raise the volume a bit more on the videos i'm watching but it all seems good on my end through my phone, my speakers, and my headset. 🤷♂️
It's on my list to try. It'll probably be the next playthrough I do as I hear it's a bit tough to master but tons of fun to play. I think being a water mage is something I'd much rather be as opposed to being all of the elements at once, but it's also cool to think I'd be doing combo's that synergize together in different elements.

PS.
I agree. I can't make any promises because I don't know how hell it is there but I'll do my best to keep the experience as genuine and raw as possible as long as it doesn't drive me insane lol.
eey just seen your videos do you also stream by chance?
@RisingReap I have before and plan to on UA-cam again. Not sure exactly when yet but it'll be soon. 😉
@@ImSnowden aah okej yea atm im just watching your Playthrough on guild wars so i have content to watch xd:P
I'm leaning towards the nonlazy way, don't worry. 😅
@sentokigames151 I have a bit till I reach that point but that is interesting!
wow someone I thought I would never see again, ngl the core story finale hit you so hard last time. If you wanna go on with story in LS1 I can guarantee you that that was and is the lowest point in the whole game, in any case hf o/
The core finale was bad. I'll end up talking about it at some point but I did do a bit of Living World S1 and I definitely started to like the characters more. Rox, I think her name was is so damn cute! 😆
Important to learn how the combo system works; Combo 'Fields' and 'Finishers'. Use the wiki for more detail by typing /wiki combo in chat. Good luck Sir!
Thank you, and I'll write this down so I'm sure not to forget! 😃
Gold is in your wallet which is shared between all characters. So you only have 38g not two characters with 38 gold.
@mooseaf3515 Yes, that is what I meant. I may have worded that badly, but from what I understand, most things are shared account wide. It's definitely a perk, so you don't have to transfer through all your alts. 😁
The video volume is so low that the reaction doesn't make sense to me because i cant ear to what are you responding to.
I can see what I can do to raise the volume a bit more on the videos i'm watching but it all seems good on my end through my phone, my speakers, and my headset. 🤷♂️
If you dont think gw2 cinematic, than you shuold try elementalist
It's on my list to try. It'll probably be the next playthrough I do as I hear it's a bit tough to master but tons of fun to play. I think being a water mage is something I'd much rather be as opposed to being all of the elements at once, but it's also cool to think I'd be doing combo's that synergize together in different elements.
