Congratulations Ruth for smashing the marathon record on the American soil. The pacer is a champion as well. He played a big role in this accomplishment. Congratulations to Kenya for dominating the marathon.
@@maggie0285 Ruth ran but why do think that Pacers have become a fixture in long distance races? Pacers have a hand in the improved times we are witnessing particularly in getting the runners to maintain their pace. However, you may disagree.
Ethiopians too. I can promise you that they are mad and will plot to take it. Tigst Assefa will start training on October 14, 2024. Her record was taken from the same spot a year later. This, will be hard to break. What Ruth did is out of this world. It’ll stand for five years in my opinion.. KWA MAONI YANGU.
Fantastic performance. Which makes it so disappointing that NBC Chicago didn’t really bother broadcasting her race, but constantly jumped from ‘atmosphere’ shots to interviews to wheelchair races to a few brief shots of the men’s and women’s race. The latter was certainly “one to watch”, as the commentators said. But NBC hardly showed 15 minutes of the first 35K of the run.
@@brandonjauregui4302 now I think organizers should think of providing constant pacing for men as well. Everyone can always perform better if aided by something, whether pacing, a super shoe or even doping
I feel like she should have acknowledged her pacer a bit more than what was shown in the video. Great achievement but her pacer played a crucial role in her victory.
Pace setters should be banned they are BS for the sport. Back in the day for the past 100 years in marathoning, there were no pace setters and runners still broke WRs. Plus, a reporter asked her if athletic enhancing substances have been managed in Kenya and she wanted an apology? Hey, every athlete today needs to be tested including Ruth. I'm not doubting her performance but she needs to be checked for those enhancing substances.
It is amazing that Kenyan women are world record holders in 1,500m, 3,000 m steeplechase, 10,000m and now again the Marathon. The only exception in the long distances is the 5,000m where Faith Kipyegons world record was broken earlier this year. Quite amazing
Nah, it was in their suntan lotion, or maybe someone smeared it on their quarter pounder without their knowledge. They were all innocent, like every other athlete who's been caught. I'd bet there would be a lot more who accidentally ingest PED's e.g. in their mosquito repellant, or trip over and land in a garden bed of PED's, that don't get caught through testing though. Even if this runner tests negative I'd guess at some stage someone slipped EPO in her coffee without her knowledge, or even massaged her pre race with PED's smeared on their hands without her knowing.
This is disgusting. Doped to the eyeballs. Athletics is dead. Kenyans and East Africans have been dirty for some time. Don't be fooled everyone. 2 mins off the world record? No chance
Poor coaching. Too obvious. If you're coaching doped athletes you need to tell them to reel it in a little, not make it so obvious. Where Flo Jo, Marita and Jarmila also went wrong.
@@marknorris1381 I have made the exact same claim on other forums. This was so obvious that the scrutiny will take away from the achievement. I don’t think she was doped on race day in as much in her build up. She should have dialed it back and run 2:11:30. Still earned the bonus and less doubt
its the overall world record, but there is a different category world record of women-only race which is 2:16 but yes, the marathon benefits extremely from having a male pacer run with you the entire way and take wind and all that, the difference is big enough for World Athletics to make the women-only separate category 🤷♂

@@bennipollner5240 lol no world record was set with men having a pacer all the way (Kipchoge did run 1:59:40 when they let men swap out and in and jump in in the middle of the race to pace him so they could stay with him, which made it an illegal record), cuz the dude running up there going after world record is way too fast, most pacers drop off by halfway cause that's all they can do and anyone faster would be RACING and drafting behind the guy going after world record to get a better time
Just the 100m celebration run after she won after 42 km is faster than me running in serious speed 😮
Congrats to the pacer, much respect 🙌

Was thinking the same thing. He's a world class racer. Sub 2:10 could win many city marathons.

With the number of Kenyan athletes that have been busted for performance enhancing drugs, is anyone skeptical about this performance being clean?
