It's really interesting to see Dee's family and their normal life - not only the "glamorous" side of some UA-camrs. Showing every day life makes it more realistic and brings me a bit closer to african life because talking truly - I have completly no idea about the daily life in Africa from normal people. Thanks for this. It's also good that you point out some things wich are not so comfortable for you.

Yea you can really feel that this was a real moving experience for you Michele. I think you've really touched on some of these tougher subjects with real class. I am sure you know of the "mega-churches" in the states preaching prosperity gospel. I am not religious as much now, but I feel these people are truly sick for capitalizing off of people's faith. Down the road from my house is one of the largest churches in the USA...he purchased the rockets former stadium! Then made a bigger name for himself by not allowing people displaced by hurricane harvey to shelter...God's work!
That’s really crazy, and some Buddhist monks they did a similar thing in Thailand destroying a roof a of temple to not allow the homeless to shelter inside.
These people they don’t represent any religion but money. These mega churches phenomena I’ve seen if just in the USA and I hope it doesn’t cross borders and gets here

@@MichelePonte This kind of attitude in our early church wasnt there at all. It was only tithing the first fruit and Christians/members used to diligently bring in their 10% harvest in faith. It changed when people started worshipping money instead of God.

Hi there. I'm Kenyan and Seventh day adventist. I'm so sorry that happened. It must have been terrible. They do ask for a lot of money. Yeah I'm still not understanding all of the contributions. I went to one of those 7th Day Churches once too, I never went back. they kept trying to get me to buy a subscription to a church magazine, they even telephoned me a home. I told them I was a Mormon and they never bothered me again. Be safe and worship God as you will, and He will hear you.
Same happened to me in seventh day. They followed me till where was stating. I cnt go to that church

I totally agree with you. This is why, while I do believe in Jesus and God I don't participate in organized religion. I grew up going to church every Sunday and went to Catholic school until the 5th grade. Still my common sense tells me that God is in your heart / soul and is always with you and has nothing to do with money. This is my belief, I hope I don't offend anyone.

Interesting video Michele. As for the church service and asking for money, to use up an entire hour asking for money, does seem unusual. You could of asked Dee if this was a normal practice, or if it was because of your presence. However, in our Catholic Church parish, asking for a donation of money from the pulpit has been the norm. In fact there are always two collections taken during the Mass. Thank you Michele again and stay safe. Best regards to your hostess.

Please dont give.. give it with all your heart ❤️ Thats the way churches do when they have projects to enhance the building of the church, of course they will ask help to people who can donate for it for that projects. Any way thats a big help for a good roof for everyone who will come to the church. 😊 But i believe that church is very thankful that someone help for them

They do the same in America. I invited a friend from Portugal and he felt the same way about how they ask for money. I think the church should be supported by its members but sometimes they ask too much and to many times in one service especially from poor people Best thing is to give what you can and be honest to God in your giving

It happened to my now Husband when we first visited the Village for the first time and took him to Church.the whole 2 hours sammon was about us then booooom they wanted 50 plastic chairs from him..He was like whaaat we only need 2 for me and you!!!!!.poor boy .He love Village life having fun eating fresh food and drinking fresh milk from the cow.But we pray from home and pay tyths so mum can go pay for us.

Wow! Great thoughts about religion and church versus faith in God. I am learning in Kenya that life is good but I feel like there is always a hustle/shortage of money. Being from an affluent nation I constantly wonder with my kenyan gf "how come you work a good job and have to have another job and a side job?" That's just how it is in kenya for the middle class. And strains of covid shutdown can really upset the balance.

No, it has nothing to do with the culture. It is like a "cold-war" that has spread around most religions in the world. Money seems to be one of the GOD people are worshiping and if you object to any of these religions you become an outcast. I am impressed and respect you for being honest and speaking about what you are observing keep it up. Many of us will leave this World without ever expressing our inner fears.

Most Churches up country have those projects. I think to the pastors or the clergy heads, it's a way to lure the mass to contribute more (By using some relevant scripture aimed towards contribution). It's pretty much optional though. You should visit my church once back in Eldoret. It's Called AIC FELLOWSHIP ANNEX. It's a bit out of town Though.
