Thanks Mark for making me nostalgic..I have greatest memories of my life in Nairobi..I actually enjoyed every moment of my life when I was in Nairobi in 2014. The Kenyan people are great and lovable. Especially I always liked the Indian food they have prepared. I was literally amazed to taste the Indian food because many of the Indian also can’t prepare that kind of taste. The chapati is a pure Indian food and as Indians are living there for many years, many Indian food items have become part of their plate. Thanks again for giving me a video tour of Nairobi..

You're so welcome... I'll offer you a FREE lesson on Kenyan cooking and a free tour... Where you can sample different/diverse delicacies from different cultures...
As a Mexican, it was really cool seeing how some of these Kenyan dishes were similar to some Mexican dishes. It was thrilling to see other cultures enjoy the same parts of the cow that my culture likes. If anyone is curious of which dishes I'm referring to, it's the cow tongue with chili. In my culture we love to eat cow tongue in tacos with salsa. There was also the dish that had rice and beans with beef stew. In my culture we have a similar dish that is a beef stew that is cooked with tomatoes and green chilies. It is also served with rice and beans.
Wow, I guess we are all one human race, I don't know where discrimination comes from. Imagine that distance apart yet sharing the same culture, it proves we should all live together despite race. Love should be the pillar of human race not colour, man I wish everyone was friendly Even to outsiders, that's how we should live
I appreciate this video. I don't know why people are complaining about it. There are many different sides to Kenya depending on your economic standing and this is just one of them. Sure it isn't fancy, but it serves its purpose. Look at them chugging that thubu. And the mũtura, classic. 👏 👏

Mark was born on 26th February 1986 in Phoenix, Arizona, to a Chinese mom and an American dad. His parents were missionaries, and that meant that Mark moved around a lot as a child. Mark and his family moved to Albertville, France, when he was five years old. The family then moved to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they stayed for about three and a half years. Mark was homeschooled during this period. The family moved to Nairobi, Kenya, after war broke out in DRC. Mark completed his high school education in an International School in Kenya.

Its safer than most American cities that are cesspools! South Africa is very violent with so much crime but not Kenya!
Brother I read ur comments about South Africa, frankly the people r nice. The place is amazing with natural beauty as well as modernised thanks to their European settlers. The crimes r mostly sparked due to frustration rooting from inequality & related factors. Also a lots of people from other African countries settled in South Africa, can b reason for the wide spread violence...
I just stumbled on this channel and I would say Mark is respectful, very adventurous, and bold enough to try different cultures. I just love his style.
for everyone complaining about hygiene this is street food, this is not how folks eat at home every day, just like Americans have truck food. Every American doesn't eat from the trucks why would you think every kenyan eats like this🙄🙄🙄
wakag mun We don't; just pure ignorance to think otherwise. Street food in America may be prepared in a different way; however, that doesn't mean its more hygenic than what's shown here.
Karon G I’m asian there always going be the few who will be ignorant about things like this , no matter where travel to including here in the u.s there are more to every thing .
Food poisoning mostly come from under under cooked meat or decomposing leftovers. Most of the food here is boiled thoroughly or boiled before it is grilled.

🔥🔥🔥🔥 kills everything. You get food poisoning from cold salads or cold items anybody can touch for a long period of time. Frozen street food or Hot street food = is the safest. Plus they cook it in-front of you... not behind a secret kitchen wall... who knows what going on back there?

After Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern, Mark Weins i believe is a force to recon with. Plus his lack of discrimination and willingness to try anything and still smile is priceless.
Karibu Kenya
Unlike Anthony Bourdain I've never seen or heard Mr Wiens doubtful or critical of anything he's heard, seen or eaten. He seems to have no capacity for introspective analysis and critique, but an infinite capacity to absorb the worst this world has to offer without batting an eyelash. Everything is SIMPLY AMAZING! MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm. No. It seldom is.
@Elio Emmanuel - Pedantic foolishness seems to be epidemic. You appear to be a victim. Also a victim of illiteracy. How have you managed to conclude the drivel in your comment?? Can you read? Try to understand what you read. You'll find it helpful.
I love shows like this, I'm a little bored with food shows about Asian and western food, but this African food is new to me and really entertaining

Mark you are a true testament of how a person should react in different cultures when experiencing their food and different lifestyles kudos to you🇺🇸
It's true we should love people's culture even if we don't like it on the inside it's not good to show it
@@dripemoji3315 I disagree with you. He is actually deceiving himself and others who watch him. You can respect people's culture while still telling the truth.
I admire the fact that you show respect to peoples cultures. But then you are not saying the truth on how the food really taste.
You can say the true taste while still respecting peoples culture(s)
@@kele2nv4u how do you know they are not saying the truth about how the food really taste maybe the food is really good to them you are not in their mouth so you cannot say if the food is bad or not. Everyone does not need to have an opinion, case in point, yours

Thanks to self quarantine,I just came across your videos!! Im already glued.Kenyans where you at ?
Listening to the Swahili in the background is the real gold in this video 😂😂😂😂
Mark has to be one of the most genuine humble person I've seen on UA-cam and just seem like a naturally wonderful human being.keep up the good work bro,we need more people like you in this world
Mark your politeness did not go unnoticed we appreciate you back
Its impeccaple how he manges to be so polite. I am very sure if given the chance, he wouldn't eat half of these foods ever again
I love how you mingle with the locals and appreciate their hospitality. You are a really nice person mark., that's why God is blessing you abundantly
8:30 when Mark took the first bite of the humble chapati..inside the warm family home..I had a moment there. Mark so used to extravagants like wagyu beef and Texas Ribeyes etc ... and now this. True food ambassador and a charming guest.

Mark, you are incredible. My mind could not get around the fact that the soup was cow head as you described it. I give you so much respect for trying all these different foods and staying so positive under all situations. You are a man of cultural acceptance wherever you go. Great job!

Fly The Flag High cows head if by far the most tender meat. It’s a must try.
I've watched this video athousand times. Was born and raised in Nairobi! This Kenyan videos are like a time machine for me.I miss mutura the most.To say I love your work mark is an understatement.
Well come again
Chapati is not Indian food. The way Kenyans cook their chapati is very different from how indians cook their ruti!

You're so welcome... I'll offer you a FREE lesson on Kenyan cooking and a free tour... Where you can sample different/diverse delicacies from different cultures...
Man if you blend them too foods together a d start a restaurant you will blow up
As a Mexican, it was really cool seeing how some of these Kenyan dishes were similar to some Mexican dishes.
That’s why when I miss Kenyan food … In a foreign country I go to a Mexican restaurant …
Even the tortilla close to chapati … 😂
I appreciate this video. I don't know why people are complaining about it. There are many different sides to Kenya depending on your economic standing and this is just one of them. Sure it isn't fancy, but it serves its purpose. Look at them chugging that thubu. And the mũtura, classic. 👏 👏
EXACTLY! Thank you for stating that!
watajua hawajui
Yvonne Wabai .. Bonjour... I totally agree with you..there is always two sides to a coin..I have frnds living there...and I have seen pics posted by them on social media.....and I must say Nairobi seems very different than what is shown here in the video.. Nairobi is actually alot more developed....clean and progressive place...

You cannot not like Kenyan food. Karibu Kenya!
am kenyan and I've been getting this vibe since the first place they hit
most people hating failed to realize that Mark Wiens is a Kenyan
Oh he is?
Mark was born on 26th February 1986 in Phoenix, Arizona, to a Chinese mom and an American dad. His parents were missionaries, and that meant that Mark moved around a lot as a child. Mark and his family moved to Albertville, France, when he was five years old.
The family then moved to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they stayed for about three and a half years. Mark was homeschooled during this period. The family moved to Nairobi, Kenya, after war broke out in DRC. Mark completed his high school education in an International School in Kenya.
@Mohamed Osman great
The way you so respect different cultures , reminds me of the great Anthony Bourdain. God Bless💕💕
Good morning Mark! Asante sana for sharing all of this awesome yumminess with us! You’re absolutely one of my favorite UA-camr’s! ♥️ Your passion for food, your passion for people, your passion for the many countries’ that you’ve visited is absolutely amazing and so much fun to watch! And the way you describe each dish-my gosh, I can almost taste it! 😋 Many thanks to you, Ying, and little Micah for showing us parts of the world that I can only dream of visiting! ❤️
Congratulations to your friend (James), his beautiful wife, and their precious baby!
Mr James is the hero of this video. His style merges well with the music.
Max respect! I'm Kenyan and eating street food takes guts and love. And he treated everyone with respect and he's super genuine. Boy, I hope his tummy didn't turn upside down that night.
Probably did but when you embrace someone’s culture idk about judging
From Thailand 🇹🇭 Food in 🇰🇪 Kenya is healthy n yummy n fresh! Only 10% have refrigerators so foods are fresh n very healthy! I enjoyed Kenya 🇰🇪 n its WILDLIFE PARK! I highly recommend Kenya! Its safer than most American cities that are cesspools! South Africa is very violent with so much crime but not Kenya!
Heheh good welcome again
Welcome
Brother I read ur comments about South Africa, frankly the people r nice. The place is amazing with natural beauty as well as modernised thanks to their European settlers. The crimes r mostly sparked due to frustration rooting from inequality & related factors. Also a lots of people from other African countries settled in South Africa, can b reason for the wide spread violence...
Lol you must be out of your mind if you say eating blood and literal fat cubes is healthy lmao

for everyone complaining about hygiene this is street food, this is not how folks eat at home every day, just like Americans have truck food. Every American doesn't eat from the trucks why would you think every kenyan eats like this🙄🙄🙄
wakag mun We don't; just pure ignorance to think otherwise. Street food in America may be prepared in a different way; however, that doesn't mean its more hygenic than what's shown here.
saaa na wangeonyesha hiyo thufu ikigongwa kwa chupa si ndio wangetapika!
Karon G I’m asian there always going be the few who will be ignorant about things like this , no matter where travel to including here in the u.s there are more to every thing .
Nelly Kilonzi 😂😂🤣
street food everywhere is dirty 🙄
Mark can you do a vid on how you avoid food poisoning and tell us what you have eaten that gave you food poisoning if you had it !
Food poisoning mostly come from under under cooked meat or decomposing leftovers. Most of the food here is boiled thoroughly or boiled before it is grilled.
harleystud I’m Angolan and for 20 years in my country never got food poisoning and I always ate street food there. I came to the states for school, and got my first food poisoning from Cheesecake Factory 🤷🏽♀️
Hello there Mark! You took our street food like a Champ! As a Nairobian, I didn't even know we had this many options... Cheers to you for doing it with a smile and having positive comments! I love Mutura and Nyama Choma any day! Of course plus roasted maize and boiled maize-that is a must have! :D Happy Travels! :D
