    You have such an impressive store of knowledge on critters, identification, ecology, biology, fossils, etc. etc.
    Do you self educate or....?
    Love watching and listening and marvelling at your upbeat spirit. Thank you for sharing! ❤

      thank you so much! And yes - largely self taught. I have rounded up a bunch of books on fossil ID and scientific papers about geology, and just am fascinated with the subject! Petuch's Atlas of FL Fossil gastropods, the Brayfield's Guide to Identifying Fossil Shells, the Peterson's book, Southern Florida Fossil Seashells, Ashby Gale's Beachcomber's Guide to Fossils, and many others are on my shelf :) I can't get enough lol... FL was and is such a cool place!
      I kinda had a thing for rocks and for dinosaurs when i was younger - when i discovered fossil shells it was sorta magical lol :D i just am fascinated with them and how the older ones were so much bigger and similar but not the same... its just so neat! (i am a dork, lol, i know, but i embrace it lol!)
      when they invent time machines, i'm going shell hunting and snorkeling in the Pliocene lol :)

      have a great time and happy hunting! it is soooo much fun to find them! Manasota and Caspersen are both good but at Caspersen you will have to work a lil harder... Manasota is popular too but not nearly as much so its a little easier there. be sure to check out the front of the bathhouse by the handicap parking lot.. .the sidewalk is FULL of teeth lol .... try to get there while tide is on the way up too if you can - it seems to push them up o the beach better! And glad this worked out time wise for you for info! :D

    Try putting those fossilized shells under UV light. The patterns might appear.

      they do :) check my shorts feed to see others that do too! I have one showing off a huge alphabet cone alongside some more modern ones and the patters get revealed nicely!

      @@echouebijoux That's fantastic! Picking up some of those shell fossils is on my bucket list. I'm in NJ, but someday I'll get there! I just need to figure out where, exactly, THERE is!

    Could you please add links to the description above for the fossil permit and also for your cute little container? I know you've mentioned before where the container was from, but I can't find it... Thanks!

    • @echouebijoux
      @echouebijoux  9 днів тому

      The container is not available online unfortunately, but it came from Shark Frenzy in Venice.
      I asked if they had a way to sell them online but they didn't...and currently we are in negotiations to see if i can offer some of them on MY website since they don't have one...
      will keep you guys posted on that...
      the fossil permit can be obtained from the florida natural history museum site here:
      www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/vertpaleo/amateur-collector/fossil-permit/permit-application/
      fossil permits are $5 annually , and are only required for vertebrate fossils. Shark teeth and fossil shells don't require one - but if you want to keep other bones that you find, you should get the permit :) there is also a fossil club in Tampa that you can join too if you are in the area - the Tampa Bay Fossil Club :) some really knowledgeable folks!
