I so love this man’s vocal tone, speech pattern, and laugh. Melts my heart every time.
Same with me!
His voice is ASMR for me. So relaxing!
Same, his voice is so calming and sweet. Love him so much 🥺❤️
I wanna have a blanket made from that voice and snuggle up in it everyday.
10:18 I thought it was “chomping on the bit” too but as several Jackals *and* the CC say, I guess it’s “champing on the bit.”
Just for anyone who’s like is Jonathan as nice as he seems? The answer is no, he’s so much nicer. He came to my production of Spring Awakening directed by a friend of his and talked to me at a bar for several hours, just incredible generous.
I love reading comments like this ❤
@@amberli5769 Where can I meet Jonathan groff?
Omg I'm so jealous! I wish I could be irl ! But yea will never happen 😔
He really is. I met him for the first time in the streets of nyc… what are the odds of that? He was so sweet and greeted me like an old friend (he kind of is, our families knew each other and I’d communicate with him before). But yes he really is so generous and loving!!
Bruh I stopped at “no” and my heart dropped and then I kept on reading 🤣💕
Groff is one of very few actors I'd have to fight the urge to hug IRL. He's such a gentle, kind soul.
I got to hug him once, like 15 years ago. (I stage doored Spring Awakening.) It was awesome. He's such a sweetheart.
@@ace-of-bats, I got to give him a hug after a Little Shop of Horrors performance, he’s a sweetie! ❤
His hugs oh my goddddd ❤️❤️ I would do anything to hug him again!!
Y’all are so lucky😭✋
I love seeing guests thanking Seth for the pandemic shows. I'll never get to thank him in person for that time and everything else since, so I love to see others do it 💙🐾
I also am a grateful jackal, who shares the same sentiment... Especially Seth's "a closer look" segments... political satire is not for everyone,. Thanks Seth
Me too! Thx to both Seth & Jonathon!! ❤
I'll forever LOVE him for his Hamilton performance.
Seth actually looking proud of the audience when they cheered! Very sweet
He was amazing in “Looking”
I could hear him speak all day. His voice is like a warm hug.
Mindhunter should be completed. I do not understand why someone hasn't put up the money to get this finished.
Supposedly, David Fincher lost his enthusiasm for the project, and that complicated things in addition to the money issues.
The best series I've ever seen in its genre.
SO TRUE
Yes I want to see Holden happy for once.
@@AlerieHightower Where is this place at?😊
When he said "You don't know this.. but we spent a lot of COVID together..." I was sure he was gonna say he was hiding behind that little attic door.
Same!😆
Now I need to see that....
He was there with Ethan Hawke
Glad to see Jonathan start to gain earned notoriety over the last couple of years. His mother was my P.E teacher in Elementary School (2009-2015) and he came to visit our school on occasion. always seemed like a good dude, and I hope that I’ll get to work with him at some point.
@Riley Rayburn Not to be obnoxious, but "notoriety" means being famous for something bad. Groff hasn't done anything bad & isn't notorious for anything: he's been *famous* for many, many years (in NYC, ever since he played Melchior in "Spring Awakening" on Broadway). He became properly famous in 2009 outside NY when he joined the cast of "Glee." I'm looking forward to seeing "Merrily" again' the off-Broadway production was excellent, though Daniel Radcliff is not really a singer, and when he's performing with people like Mendez and Groff it shows.

@@Gamers6325 You mean, where is Groff Performing in a musical? It's in NYC. The off-Broadway run was @ New York Theater Workshop in January, 2023. Now, it's going to Broadway, at the Hudson Theater. Not sure when it opens, but I'm seeing it iin Sept 2023 (the tix are pretty pricey, even for Broadway - I bought the cheapest tickets and they were $155 each - the tickets only go uo from there.
The picture of Ben, Kristen, and Jonathan at “Wicked” melted my heart. So joyful! 😊
Jonathon Groff grew up where I live and where I’ve raised my kids. Before each home basketball game we are treated to his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. He recorded it for our high school/his Alma Mater. Every time we play an away game I always feel a little smug.
Go CV! ❤️💙
Lancaster County really is the best home. Jonathan’s mother was my P.E Teacher at Smoketown a decade ago and he would visit our school on ocassion, especially when Frozen was coming out, he would come by.
@@rileyrayburn really? she was my PE teacher too when I was at CV! I live in PA! And she’s also friends with my grandma, so the three of us would go on bike rides together 🤍 their family is so close to mine they feel like a second family to me

Seth is the best. I like it when you can see he’s having a fun time with his guests.
Groff and everyone in Knock at the Cabin did such deeply profound and movingly emotional work in M Night's best movie ever. I can not recommend the film enough. It is possibly the most emotional "horror" movie ever.
I’ve loved Jonathan since Looking! He’s great!
Jonathan Groff is amazing! Humble and so relatable. Not to mention Mindhunter - one of THE BEST shows of the 2020s..love him ❤
Regarding Seth getting you through the pandemic, same Jonathan, same.
The sweetest guy! Would love if this interview were longer.

“You better tell Zac Efron that he’s gotta get off, cause he’s never gonna look like Jonathan Groff” 🥲❤️ Love them both SO much 🥰 and the first part - 100%. Couldn’t have survived the last three years without Seth. 😌
Lovely interview, Jonathan Groff at his most relaxed, the rapport between him and Seth Meyers really great. 🙂
He's adorbz. He had just left Hamilton when I was lucky to grab a seat, but saw him at a concert in SF where he was filming the special Looking wrap-up. Then saw him twice in Little Shop; it was that good! Now looking forward to Merrily We Roll Along -- weird how a flop can come back to life and be a success (or hopefully will be).
He is so likable.
I love love loved his King George. He seems like such a nice person. He is an absolutely wonderful actor and singer. Wait, great performer. ❤
He's really a funny, cute guy😄😄😄😄

I love all the actors in Frozen but, for the life of me, I couldn't make it past 45 minutes. I can't hardly believe he was in Mindhunter. That is one of my favorites and it needs morel seasons. This guy can play everything.
Well...Not everything.Im sure there'd be issues if he dressed up in black face for a role as Barack Obama.
ok now I want to know more about his upbringing it seems like there is a lot of story there. I loved when he said he didn't even know if there was a football game that was so cute
Check out Side By Side By Susan Blackwell on UA-cam. She visits Jonathan on his parents farm. He's the best.
Amazing in Mindhunter!
I don't watch a lot of movies these days, because I hate comic-based material which is just about all that gets made anymore, and M. Night had started to wear on me, but I may have to see the new film because of this interview. It reminded me of how absolutely lovely it is to watch or listen to Mr. Groff. I adore that man.
Why can't I like this more than once?

Awww J Groff now i know why my sister is obsessed w you!! Such a great guy ☺️
Me every time a guest I like comes on Seth’s show: they should go day drinking together!
He's great, but I just want to hear him say "the snozzberries taste like snozzberries." I think he's got the right voice for that.
He’s from PA. Night should mean more to him plus he looks like someone from The Village 😆
He's a good actor. Knock at the Cabin was a decent movie. That twist was interesting.
Mindhunter needs to come back.
They left us on such a cliffhanger 😣

Correction: Seth, you're not asking if Jonathan is chomping at the bit; you're asking if he's champing at the bit. "Horses champ."
Correction! This has already made a corrections appearance! ...And you're wrong lol Anything can chomp. Its a phrase. If I asked a horse to chomp,or champ,I'm sure it literally wouldn't know the difference.
@@jeffdroog Lol
Yes, at 10:18 Seth's question is rude to his guest, beyond being ignorant, because it's entrapment to encourage your guest to agree to something stupid like "chomping at the bit", which doesn't exist! Ask a horse if it exists and they'll ignore you. Horses are smart that way.
You’re so right. It’s champing, not chomping!
Aah this man.. knew him since Mindhunter

He’s wearing my LETTER JACKET!
I hope there were some serious discussions behind the scenes about casting in Cicada Cicada… 😉🤞🏼
CORRECTION: at 7:16 Jonathan gets around to correcting Seth by referring to M. Night Shyamalan simply as "Night." Whereas Seth repeatedly calls him "M. Night." When someone initializes their first name, it's a sign that they don't go by it, and certainly, not be called by the initial. Friends and co-workers with John F. Kennedy wouldn't regularly address him by saying, "Hi, John F." In that case, the "F" is not used with the first name, but only formally in the third person. And so, Mr. Shyamalan's co-workers don't call him "Emnight," but just "Night." It's the name he goes by.
Where is this place at?
Dear Seth,
Merrily was the first new collaboration between Sondheim and the legendary director Hal Prince since their triumph, Sweeney Todd, in 1979. However. It followed a decade in which they'd been the composer/lyricist and director behind 5 of the most daring musicals ever made, which won a combined 30% of the Best Musical Tonys and 45% of the Tonys for Best Score (in one year, the Score category was separated into Best Music and Best Lyrics, both of which were awarded to Sondheim). This is in addition to Prince's many successes outside of his Sondheim partnership (the Candide revival; On the 20th Century; Evita; and others).
Resentment was growing.
In addition, some questionable choices were made in the design and casting of the show, along with the fateful decision to skip out-of-town tryouts and conduct previews in New York.
As a result, the theatre community was mostly out for blood. The schadenfreude is palpable in the 1981 reviews (apart from Frank Rich, who's clearly anguished by the failure).
So no. I wouldn't say there's always been a market for the original Merrily. Instead, the show was revised and revamped a few years later in a La Jolla Playhouse production that resulted in the version that's been licensed ever since. And *that* version has been breaking people's hearts for nearly four decades.

Correction: the expression is "champing at the bit," not "chomping."
The expressions is literally whatever someone expresses it to be lol Horses chomp stuff. Its just as accurate.Ask a horse if it champs or chomps. I will wait for its response.
@@jeffdroog Okay, that's not how it works though. Thanks!
@@JayBea Actually,if you Google it,my answer is actually more correct.
@@jeffdroog It is what is known as a "common misconception." The fact that it is common does not mean that it is not a misconception. That's the whole point. Also, are you at all familiar with the Corrections segment of Late Night? (Don't answer, that's a rhetorical question.)
@J B Well, considering the words champing, and chomping, mean the exact same thing,I'd say you're absolutely,100%,incorrect lol Just because you want something to be right, doesn't mean that it has to be.If I said,"he was going crazy like a rabid wolf in a glass store" you'd gain the same information as "he was going crazy like a bull in a China shop" ...Making both things correct lol It may not necessarily be the most common turn of phrase, but its similar meaning, and being understood the same by the audience, makes it functionally the same.Language is used to convey a particular message. If your particular message is accurately converyed to your intended audience, your use of the language is correct.

Love Jonathan Groff. The movie based on the book 'The Cabin at the End of the World' was absolutely butchered and made for some particular audience who wants a conclusive ending without using brains.
Have you actually seen it yet?
Where is this place at?
Correction: it’s technically Champing at the bit, not Chomping.
If you're being technical, then technically,it's chomping, because that's what anything does when it's chomping. You can say champing if you'd prefer, but it doesn't make it any more correct,as chomping is just as accurate.Technically.
@@jeffdroog no
@@Trevin_Taylor I'm sorry that your opinion is incorrect.
@@jeffdroog it’s not an opinion, it’s an idiom. You are factually incorrect.
@Trevin Taylor "Champing or Chomping at the Bit? The quick answer to whether champ or chomp is correct is that both are acceptable for modern use - meaning you can use either! To champ or chomp at the bit is to be restless or unable to show restraint." First result on goodle.Eat chocolate ice cream.
