Come to think of it, an ex boyfriend of mine who passed away in 2007 of a massive heart attack use to sing this to me because he associated it with me because of my once singing career.
Another (former) Michigander here. Bob Seger had his hey-day when I was a really tiny tot but my mom was only 21 and my aunts all teenagers, so they all adored him and my childhood was full of him, so just like Jim Croce and a bunch of other artists who were before my time, I really love listening to him, and this song in particular (though Hollywood Nights remains my favorite.)
Total respect for your opinion, but IMO Metallica came pretty close. It might not be better, but I think it’s as good. They’re both incredible renditions for sure. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🖤🤘🏻🎶
This is my shower buddy lol listen to him at least 3 times a week , ofc can't help but to sing at the top of my lungs Even now Bob has still got it 👍 #grannysquad4life
Yes it was Dan. Greetings to Ann Arbor too. Home of the U of M wolverines. I’m all about the green and white of MSU but Granny Haze is a big Michigan fan. We’ve got a house decided here. Lol. We’re glad you enjoyed this video and keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
Well, well, well, so happy you enjoyed this one. Did you check out Metallica’s version on Two Rocking Grannies? I think you might even like that one too. Maybe not as well as this one, but who knows? Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
Thank you babies. This was Granny Jeff’s idea for the cross over and we were all hoping that our Granny Squad would like it. We loved it. Both versions are amazing. Keep on rocking and we’ll see ya on Friday. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
Thanks Raquel. We truly appreciate that. Be sure to check out Matallica’s version of this over on Two Rocking Grannies and let us know if you have a favorite. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
@@nanaking9560 You're very welcome :) I liked Metallica's version a lot, but the saxophone on the Bob Seger version was incredible, so I'd say Bob Seger was my favorite :) #GrannySquad
Took me a while to get over here but your Metallica "Turn the Page" video reminded me to come over to this channel. Recommendations: Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark Tom Petty - Don't Come Around Here No More Pat Benatar - Love is a Battlefield Billy Joel - Keeping the Faith Elton John - I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That David Bowie and Mick Jagger - Dancing in the Streets Michael Jackson (Just pick any video. They're all classic)
Welcome to Two Retro Grannies Jeremy. So glad you checked out both versions of this amazing song. I’m telling you, I don’t know which I like better. Just powerful performances in each. Thanks babies and keep on rocking. ✌🏻🖤🤘🏻🎶
Classic song that gave a perspective of touring and being on the road. Love the saxophone in this song. I also checked out the your Metallica reaction.
Thanks Mark. I’m with you on the saxe. It totally set the tone for the video. Very melancholy & thought provoking. We’re glad you enjoyed it and that you checked out 2 rocking grannies channel with Metallica’s cover of this song. We think they did an amazing job with it too. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
Some time after covering this, Metallica dedicated it to the TV series "Sons Of Anarchy". They covered this very well. All the covers from Metallica were done very well. I had no idea at all that Seger did it first. His version is excellent from every angle, and should stay like this. I, like so many other can relate to this song, having spent far too long between stops. Yeah have no doubt this really is top notch. (Either we have huge mice in here, or my son just fell out of his bed....LOL I'm surprised you didn't hear it over there...) TTFN.
Haha. I didn’t hear it, but I think I did feel the ground shake. Lol. Metallica did an outstanding job covering this song. I’m really not sure which one I prefer…..Matallica or Seger. So glad we can just enjoy both. Keep on rocking my friend and we’ll see ya on Friday. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
Great new channel ladies... Love your metal reactions, and this is just my youth coming back to me in another form... A future suggestion for one of your channels would be "I Believe In a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness... Mid 90s song with a heavy feel but would fit either place... Once again, love the new channel... Keep rocking in a retro fashion, Grannies!
You need to do Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb live at Pulse. Even if you've heard this song before, if you've not heard the version then you have no idea. The single best guitar solo of all time!
Seger did so many great songs. Most younger people don't get the line "the same old cliches is that a woman or a man" because back in the 60's and early 70's if a man had really long hair and walked into a diner in a small town the good ole boys would chastise them for their long hair. I like the Metallica version but, imo, it's not as good as Seger's original because they replace the sax with guitar and sing a metal rasp instead of Seger's soulful, smooth, bluesy voice. I'll check out the other one now.
Let us know what you think after watching Matallica again. I like the soulful sound of the sax with Segers rendition, but Metallica was very skillful creating that sound with a guitar. I think both versions are phenomenal. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
I saw the Metallica video before this one, loved both reactions. I also dig the same song twice, but with two different bands. You ladies hit a ground rule double with this song.
Thank you Zach for the awesome analysis. We found both versions of this song to be equally enjoyable while evoking different emotions on each. Glad you enjoyed them and keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
Just found your reaction videos, no clue about what you are like. First thing I must say, the intro music is great. I saw that you would like reccomdations for music between the 60's to the 90''s. I would like to suggest an artist from the 40's/50's. The song title is "Saturday Night Fish Fry", and the artist is Louis Jordan. It's a story song and just fun. I love story songs, thought that I would suggest two songs that do what every good song does, evokes an emotional reaction. First is "Andersonville" by Dave Alvin and the Guilty Men. Second is "Taneytown", by Steve Earle. If you see this, I have many songs to suggest. This song is a great example of powerful story telling, his voice and the sax make it memorable. Thanks for your time, if you do reply.
Hi Dave. So glad you ran up on the Grannies & welcome. We appreciate your suggestions and welcome them any time. This is a great song. Bob Seger is a master. We hope that you jumped over to our other channel, Two Rocking Grannies, where we just also reacted to Matallica’s version of this song. Our 2RG channel is mostly metal & rock & we’d be so happy to have you check it out too. Music is magic and we love doing these reactions. They’re genuine & from the heart & we hope you enjoy both channels. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
If you want to continue the comparative covers, try Thin Lizzie Whiskey in the Jar and then Metallica's cover of it. Then if you want to do the reverse, do Metallica's Enter Sandman and then Pat Boone's (Yes! Pat Boone) cover of it.
The first time I heard of this was Metallica's cover. I heard this a few times since but I, by far, prefer Metallica's version. The song version you hear first/most is "the original" in your own mind and 9/10 times that's the best version. Example: Unchained Melody was covered over 150 times, which version do you think is the best? Al Hibbler, Roy Hamilton, The Righteous Brothers, Elvis, Roy Orbison, U2, Robson & Jerome, etc...I'm guessing most will pick The Righteous Brothers
Pretty sure you’re right on the Righteous Brothers. I get such a different perspective on this version from Metallica’s. Really not sure which I like the best. They’re both so good. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
My favorite song! He is such an amazing storyteller. Thank you for z very nice memory!
You’re so welcome Joan. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
Oh I absolutely love Bob Seger. Always have and always will. I'm one of his hugest fans.
He’s absolutely amazing Janet. Super proud of him here in Michigan. Glad you enjoyed this & keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
Come to think of it, an ex boyfriend of mine who passed away in 2007 of a massive heart attack use to sing this to me because he associated it with me because of my once singing career.
That’s very interesting to know. Thanks for sharing that Janet & we’ll see ya on Friday on 2RG. ✌🏻🎶💖💖💖🤟🏻
Mr. Seiger was the Poet Laureate of my generation.

Bob Seger is the King of Detroit Rock and Roll
Absolutely. I agree 100%. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🖤🎶🤘🏻
This song is Bob's and only Bob's. no one else can really cover it.
Total respect for your opinion, but IMO Metallica came pretty close. It might not be better, but I think it’s as good. They’re both incredible renditions for sure. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🖤🤘🏻🎶

The man has so much soul I can see how you could think that. Great singer, great performer. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶💖🤟🏻
Ooooh, my dream come true, you are doing an original and then the cover! Channel crossover, I love it!
