Possibly the "smallest" piano concerto in the standard repertoire, yet one of the greatest. Whatever purists say, it sounds wonderful on the piano - and in the hands of Maria Grinberg.
What do you mean "smallest"? It is musically very difficult peace of music as everything J.S. composed.Even two-part inventions are tonaly very complex peaces...Sonatas von Motzart could also be "played"by sight reading and it tells absolute nothing about their tonal and musical quality.The fact that so called "genial" kids could play does not mean anything in scence of a real musical and philosophical approach to these true masterpiecies of musical art.It means only that these kids have talent to reproduce,but they do not reach real artistic goal through their talent,reather hearing-motorical expression of their basic talent.
On what Richter do you mean?Karl Richter ist german,Sviatoslav Richter is russian...By the way Karl Richter played it on harpsichord (cembalo ) so it is not quite comparable with piano performance...Sviatoslav Richter as I know did not record this concerto among many others he played...
