Maria Grinberg was an amazing human being, in addition to being a brilliant pianist. Both her husband and her father were executed by the Stalinist regime in the 1930s as enemies of the state - likely because they were practicing Jews. How she rebounded from this horrific experience and performed magically at the piano is incomprehensible. It is a privilege to listen to her recordings. Thank you for sharing.
"...because they were practicing Jews" - What an absolute nonsense, antisemitism in this times also was fighting and against antisemitism were hard laws, read history exactly, please.
There seems to be a misunderstanding here. Martin Sweaney's comment was addressed to TheBestGame Reviews, not to Peter von Belvedere. There was significant anti-Semitism throughout Stalin's reign. Here is the Wikipedia article on the subject: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitism_in_the_Soviet_Union
Thanks for sharing with us such emotions!❤
Wonderful Allemande and the Sinfonia of course with sonorous piano tone..and so on. Courante with an amazing dynamic range, Rondeau as well. The finale the Capriccio orchestrally conceived. Maria Grinberg shows us the significant advantage of the piano compared to the harpsichord: colour and sonority. Amazing pianist!
One of My newyears resolutions last yeer was to learn all 6 partitas I got through the 1stand half way through 2nd this inspires me to give the whole project another try.my understanding is that the partiitas where part of the 1st published keyboard works Bach presented to the world'.
Lucky you, to grasp the genius always lives a mark in our lives I’m studying classical guitar and Bach is driving me crazy (and is my favorite ) very difficult and when “it’s coming” is like heaven Good luck with your project

Stick to reviewing games rather than posting utter gibberish about pianists whose biography and circumstances you don't begin to comprehend.

Incredible sustentation of phrases and deep sense of expressing them!

Amazing pianist!

Wonderful ! 😍😍😍
wonderful. thanks incontrario motu
I like the sobriety and severeness of this Bach performance, it reminds me of Anatoly Vedernikov's playing.
My perception is the same. The „sobriety” says so much about her intellectual capacity, a surplus of being an amazing pianist.
...and then there is always the idiot that spits in the eye of eternal beauty and puts a thumbs down...sigh :-)
( Maria Grinberg )
grazie
❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹🍃🍃🍃🍀
Tempo and phrasing of Capricio is like by Martha Argerich :) Thanks a lot for posting this wonderful performans of partita
yes, very true! also, the preceding Rondeau but more repeats from Grinberg.
Grande pianista! Me parece russa2.
Russian school !
Am I wrong or is it real? Bach with *rubato* ??
What's the problem
if that's the piano stool to her right it's not befitting of an artist of this stature!
