yeah man anyone who really understands tool and can feel the music like some of us knows that lateralus is something very special. it almost goes beyond music
Play the Holy Gift version and watch the evils pour out of you . I can't even call it music anymore knowing what I do and what I've experienced. It's more along the lines of an exorcism
wow. absolutely and utterly astonishing. I wish I was there to see them play Ticks & Leeches. I saw them in Boston, Albany, and in Portland Maine this year.. all of the shows they did were more than amazing, period. TOOL RULES!
This is an awesome video thanks man. they played this song the first tool concert i went to. and i was to the right of the stage in the lower balcony and had a perfect view of danny. it was amazing.
try singing the way maynard has since he started in tool... screaming and singing the way he does while recording an album is one thing but screaming and singing and doing it live, every day for multiple months on tour.... it aint fuckin easy.... tool has been known to book short tours and they will schedule shows sometimes around maynards vocals.... even maynard admits that he cant scream and sing live like he used to... hes been doing it for 21 years..also i think the "cheat" is fucking sick.
I'd like to say this is one of my favorite Tool songs, but all their songs are my favorite, still I love how you Tool can play music like this and then few years later play Wings for Marie
He won 5th place for Best drum solo with this song. Above him were the Greats, Rich, Bonham etc.. Shows how much of a drummer he is, doesnt it? Hes my god.. :)
it seems like people are swayed by the music in their own generation, i think zepellin are incredible for having been what they were in a time where they was so little else to go off of, and i think they are truly legendary, nobody could argue that, but it really surprised me to see Adam listed as guitarist #75 in "The Top 100 Guitarists of all Time" in Rolling Stone, i think in all fairness he is meticulous and detailed and professional in his guitar work that he deserves more credit than that
I would have blown a load if they played this to either one of the concerts I went to, got to hear Wings for Marie/10,000 days though which is also pretty rare.
This also might be the most stamina draining song Tool performs for drummer Danny Carey. I recall reading an interview in which he commented on this. Either way, great song with great dynamics and emotion.
fuckin awesome yea i agree it would b better without those effects on maynards voice... but i guess when he uses those effects it allows him not to put on so much strain and still have it sound good. were not gunna hear him do it as good as the recording but still this is a fuckin awesome live video thank you for putting this up
@dooochbaggg i know that rush has been touring, neil is makeing other drum lesson dvd set, im a drummer and i maybe going to get it, look in to the traier. but for TOOL ive been hearing rumors about them making a new album coming in 2012.
i hate people who cant appreciate a tool show. theres no need to be talking through the whole thing. when i saw tool a few nights ago people kept walking back and forth from the seating to get more beer during tools show. i dont get how when this kinda show is going on in front of you how you cant just stand there and watch it and love it. i dont see how during that moment anything else can be more important then taking in this show. i hate people.
I hope they play this when I see them.... that would be amazing....but then again I also want them to play every other song they've made so I guess you can't have everything.
Yes it also took me a while to actually like this song very deeply, and now I certainly do. I used to think it was almost, dare I say, some kind of filler-song on the album but now I realize how and why its pure genius, in my opinion at least. Incredible song, and it's done very well but it seems like he can't hold the screams for very long which is a shame.
Oh my fucking god, 95% of these comments are fucking stupid. Just enjoy the undeniable great drumming, great vocal performance of it, and how good this song is.
I think that he is the best drummer in the world!!! And I asked a lot of people if they think that he's the best drummer and everyone said yes, but my dad that he is a Led Zepplin fan and he thinks that John Bonham is the best drummer. Hahaha
why didn't you film danny more ? this song is a masterpiece at drumming. i would so much know how Danny plays this song. It's so perfect. I think, for me, that this song is the better work of Danny. I saw a top 100 drumming performance who agree with me : Ticks & Leeches was the 3rd , Moby Dick of John Bonham was the first.
those guys in the background were kind of annyoing, but not even they could take away from this song. I can tell why it's rare for them to play too cause it seems like it would be tough to play on a daily basis.
Well considering they release 1 album every 5 years, they might release 2 more, but I think that would be the limit, most bands stop making records when they hit their 60's.
Either he does the concert and includes this song with limited results, or he walks in and does this one song to it's capacity and leaves. Take your pick, the human body and vocal chords can only handle so much.
Did anyone else notice how exhausted Danny looked towards the end. His head was all hung over and shit. I think this song tires him out. Not surprised.
yeah man anyone who really understands tool and can feel the music like some of us knows that lateralus is something very special. it almost goes beyond music

i stood threw a whole tool show silent.... blew my mind. seriously.....
I was at this concert. It was in Fort Lauderdale in October of 2001. I have seen Tool three times so far and this was by far the best show.
This song is all about danny its rated one of the greatest drum performances of all time. I live watching him play through this with ease
wow.
absolutely and utterly astonishing.
I wish I was there to see them play Ticks & Leeches.

I love his scream in this song. Its amazing
Spetacular song. I got shivers everytime I hear it.
just danny carey.. no more words needed...
Danny cracks asses like always. Dang he is the best!
Don't say it like that, fucking hell, language has changed in 11 years.
best drum performance ever
If only tool could live forever...
I love how it took those dudes till Adam started to playing to recognize the song.
He won 5th place for Best drum solo with this song. Above him were the Greats, Rich, Bonham etc.. Shows how much of a drummer he is, doesnt it? Hes my god.. :)
the first band i saw live. they blow my fucking mind. I LOVE TOOL. I LOVE DANNY. He is my main influence for playing the drums.
the fact that danny carey fuckin rocks this song live as well as in the recording is even more testament to his skill
Beautiful! Danny Carey !!!
speachless....
Truly insane drumming!
legends, hard to see outta america, pure genius!!
Thanks for the great videos
Speechless.
wow that insane...Danny makes the hardest stuff look so freakin easy
tool doesnt play T&L often because Maynard said he loses his voice everytime he sings it
ya they will. i heard on their website about a summer tour 2009
maynard sings in the darnkness most of the time
was just about to say the exact same thing man... they're in the presence of Tool for christ's sake!
God damn i wish i could have seen this live my fav Tool song with Third eye
Tool's music just sounds so subversive... I love it and this tune....Danny is a friggen beast on this song.
danny is simply the best drummer in the world
Adam Jones's guitar intro has haunted me forever.........
it seems like people are swayed by the music in their own generation, i think zepellin are incredible for having been what they were in a time where they was so little else to go off of, and i think they are truly legendary, nobody could argue that, but it really surprised me to see Adam listed as guitarist #75 in "The Top 100 Guitarists of all Time" in Rolling Stone, i think in all fairness he is meticulous and detailed and professional in his guitar work that he deserves more credit than that
I agree with you paparazzi3p :) don't worry
i just would say that this song, at drumming, (and not only at drumming by the way) is so powerful.
I would have blown a load if they played this to either one of the concerts I went to, got to hear Wings for Marie/10,000 days though which is also pretty rare.
Those screams are blood curdling, I'd kill to hear this song live!
that would be hell living for ever
omg that guy in the background "watch the singer watch him watch the singer watch him you watching watch the singer"
What a Tool.
This also might be the most stamina draining song Tool performs for drummer Danny Carey. I recall reading an interview in which he commented on this. Either way, great song with great dynamics and emotion.
Holy Shit Dude. First time ever I've seen thiss live on vid. Fucking awesome.
welcome brother, your life will change for the better
I can't believe they did this one live...
Really?!?!?!!? I didn't knew that!!! That's awesome!
old good 2006 !!
One of the sickest songs on the drums. Danny Carey is mind blowing.
i was on the fighting game board and someone used that word to describe Dudley's corner juggle combos.
Yeh, just 3 more years and we can go out and buy the new CD!
Sir Psycho Sexy the timing of your comment is very sad but funny
Lol
CockMunch McGee 😂😂
this song is so bad ass
fuckin awesome
yea i agree it would b better without those effects on maynards voice... but i guess when he uses those effects it allows him not to put on so much strain and still have it sound good. were not gunna hear him do it as good as the recording but still this is a fuckin awesome live video

I wish I could play guitar like Adam Jones. He's a freaken beast
absolutely redonkulous...wish i coulda been there...
No matter they say... Tool is the best :) Damn fucking hell YEAH !!! Maynard & Carey rule :P
Danny = the greatest drummer of all-time.
adam jones is just so fucking awesome! AAAAHHHHH!!!!!
fucking amazing.
i hate people who cant appreciate a tool show. theres no need to be talking through the whole thing. when i saw tool a few nights ago people kept walking back and forth from the seating to get more beer during tools show. i dont get how when this kinda show is going on in front of you how you cant just stand there and watch it and love it. i dont see how during that moment anything else can be more important then taking in this show. i hate people.
I abso-fucking-lutely agree with that statement
Its way too fucking rare to see Tool play this song live. They've done like...3-5 times.
0:59 "Watch the singer" Uh, you're talking about the wrong band member for this song.
I hope they play this when I see them.... that would be amazing....but then again I also want them to play every other song they've made so I guess you can't have everything.
lol, i assumed it must have been something like that. it happens to me too sometimes... rock on...
algun dia estare en uno como ese
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa
@sweetevilproductions he stands in the back, near adam. he enjoys being in the dark and out of the spotlight to concentrate and get lost in the music.
Not only that, but the drumming's so insane, it's hard for Danny Carrey to keep up.
@kingkickball
Tool = best band that will ever exist. ever.
woot for danny :D
@guilleeeee0123 you possibly don't realize how much singing/screaming this song tears up your vocal cords
this song is number one for Drumming Performance FUCK YEAH danny carey
Fuck yeah! Fantomas is the shit!
this is Danny's song anyways, it's rated the 3rd best drumming performance of all time.
wow its crazy how easy Danny carry makes the hardest stuff look so freakin easy...
5:05 cameraman jizzes pants due to the most epic of interludes.
lol i was like wtf after you said he was young
Lombardo's the dude from Slayer and a lot more importantly Fantomas. Check them out if you want art rock, well, art metal.
Yes it also took me a while to actually like this song very deeply, and now I certainly do. Oh my fucking god, 95% of these comments are fucking stupid. Just enjoy the undeniable great drumming, great vocal performance of it, and how good this song is.
the band he´s talking about in the beginning is fantomas.
I think that he is the best drummer in the world!!! And I asked a lot of people if they think that he's the best drummer and everyone said yes, but my dad that he is a Led Zepplin fan and he thinks that John Bonham is the best drummer. Hahaha

@RabidityRabbit Maynard is in the back look at the shadow at 1:28.
Well considering they release 1 album every 5 years, they might release 2 more, but I think that would be the limit, most bands stop making records when they hit their 60's.
@DKTank69 i fucking agree, but thats just an understatement XD
Everything after 4:08 is epic
Whether you're breathing in for a scream or breathing out.
Shut up, yes he is singing, yes it has been enhanced with a vocal effect, but he is singing.
mother fuckin maynard can scream and danny is angry on those drums.
@dooochbaggg i wouldnt be worried about dannys age, you see that freakin neil peart is in early 60s and look at him still
Either he does the concert and includes this song with limited results, or he walks in and does this one song to it's capacity and leaves. Take your pick, the human body and vocal chords can only handle so much.
Did anyone else notice how exhausted Danny looked towards the end. His head was all hung over and shit. I think this song tires him out. Not surprised.
Actually Maynard already confirmed that they will be making another CD. It will probably be their last though because they're getting pretty old.
At 2:01, is Adam telling Maynard to get on stage?
Haha.
@kingkickball COMPLETELY RIGHT
He just needs to get a mic that distorts his voice for the scream parts. This is my fave song off Lateralus!
One of the best? He is the best. :D
@DannyTPAlt ok cool! just askin :) i hate when people say stupid shit! well, i'm gonna go back to jammin out some TOOL! rock on my friend!!!!
