Yep ... I see some small channels with 100-500 subs all the time, and some are really great, but some are quite boring (for me). I'm glad I do not have any mr beasts and such on my feed ...
Thank you so much for this! I recently started this channel a few months ago and the growth has really been slow so I’m trying to find encouragement. But you’re right it’s all about doing it because you love it and I genuinely feel so much passion when I make my videos and I care about helping other people through my messages. Good luck to you and your journey ❤
Hey Emily, you are crushing it. 1 year on YT and you now are almost at 1K subs. It took me 4 years to get to 1K subs, and still working out the watch time milestone. Good luck with continuing your journey.
I've been watching some videos about starting a channel or uploading videos to this platform for a week and This is the best video I've seen so far. This is exactly my type of content or the way of making content and you expressed it so close to my way of thinking that I have'nt seen anywhere else even if I've been just "watching" videos on youtube already for decades. My tips I've been sharing in some videos are: Do your thing, something that your are passionate about, do it your way, the way you feel comfortable in and just be yourself no matter what others think as long as you just follow the rules of uploading content! keep it up without pressure! 👍 I found videos that are several years old that I like to watch that no one makes anymore!
i've been posting content on UA-cam on my old channel from 2017 to 2024 and only managed to get 352 subscribers after all these years of hard work. For a while I quit feeling depressed but after a few months of 'not posting' I realised I felt like something was missing in my life. Now i started this new channel and keep on posting videos, but my mindset changed and stop caring so much about 'growth' and 'popularity'. Just doing what makes me happy.
I love finding small youtube channels that are reccomended to me i'm the same whenever i upload a video i look back at it and point out some things that could of been better but its part of the process with each video uploaded we gain experience and what to do better in the future videos.
Thank you for this inspiring video! “There’s nowhere to go from perfection”, great insight 🙂. Also about the 50 views: I feel you. Who knows, a video that doesn’t get many views at first might get plenty later. I find the number of views impossible to predict. Thank you for voicing your experience as a UA-cam creator. I was feeling quite alone in building a channel, not anymore after this video 🙏
Just want you to know, your video showed up in my feed and I watched it. Keep it up, you're doing fine. Just because you haven't blown up doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. Keeping it real is fantastic.
I also like watching small youtubers. To be a small channel you seem to have a great attitude! You also have some wisdom. No doubt if you stick with you’ll be successful. I’m about to check out some more of your videos…..
Hi Emily! I loved this video. My channel is 5 months old and I'm only on 71 subscribers. It feels like a long difficult road. I started my channel to share all my favourite recipes with everyone as family and friends always love all my food and other creations. I also decided to start the channel because I wanted to leave all the recipes online for my daughter...... sort of my legacy to her. I know, it's so difficult to record myself doing this, but everyone tells me it will get easier. Good luck with your channel. You are doing great!
I am heading for retirement. This is something that I really want to do mainly so that my grandchildren and their grandchildren can hear. Your imagery is fantastic but your message has been so inspirational. Love it. Your message has given me so much inspiration.
Totally relate to this! Love your storytelling and style-it's so authentic. I have around 3k subscribers, but I usually get about 200 views per video. Still, I keep making videos because my family and friends overseas love watching them, and that's what really matters. Keep doing you!
Dear Emily, thanks for sharing this precious and touching information. As a small UA-camr myself I really needed to listen to this. Thank you! You are so authentic! It's very rare to encounter channels like yours these days!
Glad this came up on my timeline! I’ve been watching a lot of small creators this week and I think my algorithm has picked up on that and I love it! Wishing you and everyone else the best. We got this!
I came across your video several times and finally I decided to click on this video because I am facing the same problem with you, sometimes I am stressed but when I watch yours and many others successful UA-camr, I know that my journey is just begin and compare to you guys, I am nothing but more effort need to put on, enjoy the process is the key❤. Keep going!
Ok i had to stop the video here and praise for what she says that she's not different but that she is different from the people that are around her. That is an incredible realization. I definitely can use that.
First time watcher, and connect well with your story, I’m an artist/teacher/tattoo artist on side , you can create everyday, or get friends together and actually film your own movies about your writings, but I truly started making videos 8 months ago, and trying to cultivate a pure audience one of my reaction videos went viral, not knowing it will go viral, I went from 112 subscribers to 4300, but I wasn’t excited, until they retained when I started sharing my home/body/healing spirit goals, which developed into my Garden & Life series, and the embracing comments started growing and cultivating a community of their own, my original viral video, divided the world and started a conversation and then I took control but showing what I was doing vs. talking, and then started with what I was mentally healing while landscaping, and that where my fun truly started, This was great video❤ keep growing and going
Thank you for sharing your story. It was very inspiring and motivated me to keep pushing forward. Congratulations on your UA-cam growth and wish you the best as your journey continues:)
Dope insight. I'm almost at 10k subs (50 away) and there's so many times I act like it's not enough but then I realize I'm not trying hard enough in terms of quality content. I'm not figuring out how to truly monetize outside of views. This is a massive opportunity I need to take advantage of.
The production quality of this video is, imho, cinematic. Every bit as good as major motion pictures with million dollar budgets. How do you do that? The color, the clarity, the vividness. The blacks are strikingly black, the red is vibrant. The subtle tones of color in the face. The warmth of the light. The interplay between light and shadow. Perfectly balanced. The quality of this video could make Rembrandt green with envy. Bravo. I was so distracted by the stunning beauty of the production quality that I almost forgot to listen to what you were saying. Oh. Film school. You actually know what you're doing. I never realized until I saw it with my own eyes what a huge difference that makes. Wabi sabi. You seem like the kind of woman a person could say "dude" to. Maybe it's that amazing poncho-like top. Spaghetti western vibes. Dude. I wanted to say hey, I care. Caring is such a simple thing, and such a complicated topic. Can a person care too much? Of course they can. That can be absolutely disastrous. How do you strike the right balance of caring and nonchalance? Can a person be both jaded and a mass of scar tissue from having been burned? Sometimes I think caring for each other and protecting each other's innocence is one of the most precious things there is. The great videos you created that have few views, that raw experience and the hard work and the joy of the act of creating something that makes you say yes, I did that, that is also present in some small way in each video you made after that, making them a tiny bit deeper and richer.
I really enjoyed this video. I have a tiny channel, and I spent all week working on a video that just went up today, and now the waiting game begins. . . I also went through a number of school changes/career changes to get here, and I agree, this is a great platform to inspire other people and to tell stories. And none of us knows what's going to happen or where any of our work is going to lead. I think I'm in a similar place right now - I feel especially free, because there are no real expectations for me. Also, all of your outdoor footage is so beautiful and well composed! Looking forward to more videos!
Appreciate this Emily. Subscribed. Happy to support a small channel and 💯 feel and relate to everything you said. I watched till the end. TY needed this today.
Hit 1k this year... then realized my content is all over the place and even built around things I don't really want to keep doing. Been a real struggle since then. Still working on it though
Being a UA-camr is like running a business, you always need to give your viewers what they want. You can't become complacent at any moment. At the end of the day, toughest part is definitely starting your channel and growing it up to the point you become successful (and honestly if I haven't used a lot of Fame- ster, I would have quit a long time ago. It was a proper game-changer for me, and once you become successful it is a great tool to control algorithm).
@@markkelderman2439 It definitely is like running a business. I think most people don’t realize that until they try it themselves. I’ll have to check out Fame-ster!
Just reached out to a few friends and asked for some favors help you go over 500 tonight. Congrats on hitting 500. Best of luck on your streaming adventures. We will be cheering you on.
Love how raw and real you are. Have been thinking of getting back into making videos and your channel and this video in particular helped me just decided to do it and not worry about being a big viral channel. Keep going ❤
Wow I started my channel a few months ago as well and resonate so much with this! Your storytelling is so good here. Subscribed and excited to see where this all takes you!!
I appreciate your candidness and authenticity. Sometimes it's not about the destination - savor in this phase of your journey. However many views -- savor in each one, in each person you impact -- no one can tell you what the metrics of success are aside from yourself. You're already there!
Thanks for making this video. So relatable, esp the part about spending so much time and effort filming and editing a video and thinking it's your best work yet, and to get little to no views. Totally going through that right now and have to remind myself that no one cares, as long as I am having fun (or at least try to have fun). All the best!
First of all, thank you for your Inspiration! At the moment I'm planning to start a new channel, I had one before when I was younger... And now I'm closely done with a new faceless and nostalgic video, cause I think I can inspire other people the most in my way. But I struggle with the thought, that they maybe wont remind me, if they dont see me in the videos and only hear my voice🤔
@@Jeydeet-official Thank you, I’m so glad you were inspired. Your audience will recognize your videos based on its unique characteristics and style. Take the leap and start your channel despite the doubts. You’ll do great! My recent video shares some things I’ve learned from my personal journey on YT. Maybe it will offer you some motivation:)
Thanks so much for sharing your journey! The community on UA-cam is pretty incredible right? I started taking creating content more seriously this year and it’s really been rewarding to contribute and be part of a community that is sharing ideas and different perspectives. - Got my sub and rooting for your success! 👊🏾
I feel you on the travel videos but you know i think you putting together something you enjoyed into a sort of album you can always look back on is payment in itself. Coupled with the idea that if you keep going there is the chance you get pushed by the algo and those videos will pop like the seed bank in the earth thats just waiting for the right environment and time. I think meditating and unattatching yourself from expectations of others putting stock in your work will help you appreciate the objective wonder it is to distill your life into an amazing couple of minutes. Good luck to all of us small time creators! But more importantly i hope you continue to enjoy the process.
Your videos are awesome Emily :) The journey itself is what we all have in common, but how we embrace it is what matters most. You are a creator and your passion shows. It's your superpower! So use it, embrace it and never stop creating. You will save and inspire! Super congrats on your channel, talent and success. Just subscribed, cheers!
Thanks for posting. I too watch small channels to support them but also to share the challenges. I’ve been posting videos once per week since January and I feel you. This is so grueling but so inspiring. I intend to stick with it and hope that I have the stamina to make my three year commitment. I celebrate one year Jan 1 so onward. Thanks for you inspiration ❤❤❤
It's not about the journey. It's not about the money. It's not about having fun. What's truly important is, I deliver my message. Even if no one listens to it or pays attention.
I dont know who you are, but YT thought I should watch this video. Thanks for sharing this and opening yourself up. It is hard and I was reminded today as I was looking to create some content and this was part of my script " if you don't enjoy the process or your reason isn't a strong enough then you're probably not going to make it." That was meant for someone else to watch and take to heart.....but you video reminded me that it applies more to me than to anyone else. Thank you for that insight. Many blessings to you and your journey.
@@robertmileage The “why” is the most important part. UA-cam is not an easy journey but if you have a strong reason for doing it, you’ll continue to do it. Thank you for sharing your comment:)
Emily, I see the effort you're putting on each video, even though I just watched your first video. Here are something I've got to say, as someone who has been thinking about creating a youtube channel since I was 15 and now currently 22. The first thing is that you're creating, you did it, you got to actually start and that's awesome. Just keep going!
One small detail I would recommend is giving more emphasis to your titles. Example the Mexico travel film, I recon it would have performed better if the title was something like: " The most iconic pyramids in Mexico | Ballon View " or " Ballon adventure over Mexico's pyramid ". I know very little about UA-cam, but as a consumer I see that usually I go for over exaggerated titles. Sad but we tend to judge a video by its cover.
Maybe it would be nice to do a tutorial about how u did the trip film with an Iphone. Like showing some insights you learned with film making. "5 Lessons from Film School"
Appreciate your story and honesty. We are just putting out content and doing the best we can. It can be a grind but just keep going! Hope you hit 1k soon!
I'm also at 400 subscribers and started about a year ago! I like your reasoning, getting few views hurts. I had one video with my older music explode but no one likes my new music. I like to believe that self validation is stronger than external validation. Easier said than done 😅
@@NoiseCommander3DS What I’ve learned is that even if you’re not getting a lot of views, you’re still improving. You get better with every video. Keep making music and posting it. Don’t stop:)
This is so real, the part especially where you want to help, it's always felt selfish to create "my vision," have "my" creative outlet. But you are right, this could inspire others to work on their dreams and vision and whatever drives them. I do know the more value we put out into the world, the more comes back to us. So yes, keep creating, step by step, day by day... You've inspired me to continue doing the same.🌸
I’m watching videos like these more and more each day. It’s good to see a lot of inspiration from these videos coming from creators with smaller following who are more relatable for growing channels like mine. Keep pushing guys. We got this!
I 100% agree with everything that you have discussed in your video, as a frequent Instagram scroller I also find it a bit more discouraging and demotivating, however the UA-cam space is much more positive and inspiring. Regardless of numbers, your story was wonderful and definitely inspiring, which is the whole point really. I am even more motivated now to create. Keep up the great work, subscribed :)
I'm glad you found this video inspiring. I hope to continue to motivate others to create despite any difficulties during their journey. I appreciate your support! I subscribed to your channel. You have great travel videos:)
Thank you for sharing! All of us newer and smaller channel creators find companionship with creators who share their experiences .. but as you grow, find and finesse your content… your niche… Oh and… 1% better with every step!
Also an aspiring UA-camr here and I really enjoyed your video, thanks for being open and vulnerable about your journey with UA-cam! People don't always realize how much time and effort go into videos just for them to seemingly flop and it can be super discouraging. I think my favorite aspect of your video was that you reflected on your experience in a way where you saw both the struggles, the lessons, and what you enjoyed, and it felt like you were just chatting with a friend about what it's been like making UA-cam videos. No clickbait, no overhyping, but just being authentic. Thanks for sharing that with us and best of luck going forward! You're doing great and we appreciate your authenticity!
I appreciated everything you said and you are right, it’s about the journey…even if it does suck when you put all the work into a video and get like 30 views. I subscribed because I like your style. Will take a peek at those Mexico videos too 😊 cheers and please keep going!
Can relate to the thoughts. Been on my UA-cam journey for quite a year and got 90 subs. I’m Making travelling and self helping content. Thanks for reminding that the outcome is not in our hand but the joy we feel while creating is impeccable. ❤️
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen and it is awesome! I just posted 3 this evening that are probably objectively “bad” but I need to start. I did this a couple weeks ago with some and then deleted them! I hope to be brave and keep these up. You are so relatable and I am grateful I watched this! I bet those travel videos didn’t get offered to folks to view. I hope they get more visibility now!
This video really resonated with me-thank you for sharing your story with such honesty and humility. You've inspired me to finally create that documentary I've been thinking about, even if no one else cares about it. I'm going to do it anyway, and maybe, just maybe, it will connect with someone out there!
Just starting out on the You Tube journey myself so I appreciate the amount of effort that goes into it and how small the external validation might be. I'm also excited by the prospect of learning and getting better at telling stories in this medium. I'll keep watching your channel for inspiration!
Just found your channel, and you have done a fantastic job with this video and the message. Ultimately, its a process of 'documenting' and even if today no one is really watching your travel videos, as it gets traction with a specific audience (some one looking for ideas for when they visit Mexico, for example) it is likely to show up for them and be helpful. At the same time, if you've enjoyed the process of documenting your travels, and editing them to channel your creativity, then it's given you a positive outlet.
You just got your subscriber number 526. Thank you for sharing this-as a fellow one-year creator with 501 subscribers, it really resonated with me. Keep going! You will be a much larger channel than you might think.😊
Love the video. I just started mine 2 weeks ago and have a solid 5 subs rn lol. You just got one more. Looking forward to watching the growth. Ps. My main issue be forgetting to turn on my Audio mic every time on the first Go 😅
ya i have the same reason with you and i really love travel, really want to connect with people in the world and share my story to them or hear their stories. But it's seem like youtube quite hard for me and i still looking for some people who also passion to do youtube to work with like a team. We can motivation each others or help each others, i don't know but if we just work alone is just so hard
You are an exceptional person, both inside and out. I had the pleasure of meeting you a few years ago during our photography outings in downtown Chinatown, and I was truly impressed by your vibrant personality. I really enjoy your channel and wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for the work you do. Keep up the fantastic job, and I wish you continued success on your journey to reach one million subscribers and beyond!
Great video! I can relate to this so well because I'm on the same path as you. I've just been making videos a little longer than you. You (we) are on the right path! Keep it up! I'll definitely keep following you. You've earned yourself a new subscriber! 😊👍
I love your video and that you are so honest! I have under 400 subscribers myself and know exactly what you’re talking about. The most important thing is that you enjoy what you’re doing. But of course, it’s tough when you’re not getting any views. Your video is great, I bet you'll reach 1000 followers soon! :) Following you now:)
GREAT freaking video. You reminded me I gotta appreciate what I made through my eyes & not from the results. My Mission Impossible video that I worked months on for my main channel? Ah well, didn't blow up. Still super proud of it Also, we small channel Chicago film loving people GOTTA form a group so we can all collab & create & grow together Keep up the awesomeness!
You just got another subscriber. I love small channels , as you said, I can resonate with them so much. It’s taken me years to get the amount of subs I have. I’m about to hide my old videos ❤
Beautifully told story and so amazingly edited. Your message is what so many early content creators should hear. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the numbers that it might be easy to forget the creativity, community and journey. Great work and looking forward to seeing more 🥂
Thanks for making this video. I needed to hear some of the things you said near the front. I relate to being an actor and then disliking the industry. I’m in that situation right now. Glad you’re still creating. Just subscribed.

Thank you! I agree and it’s such a wonderful thing:)
Just reached out to a few friends and asked for some favors help you go over 500 tonight. Congrats on hitting 500. Best of luck on your streaming adventures. We will be cheering you on.
@@AvelardoLopez That was very kind of you. Thank you and your friends for the support:)
Love how raw and real you are. Have been thinking of getting back into making videos and your channel and this video in particular helped me just decided to do it and not worry about being a big viral channel. Keep going ❤
I’m just getting started and this was very inspirational and honest. Adding to my playlist for whenever I need a boost. Thank you 🙏
Wow I started my channel a few months ago as well and resonate so much with this!
As they say, it’s about the journey not the destination. I constantly have to remind myself to “savor” this process. It’s the best part!
Thanks for making this video. So relatable, esp the part about spending so much time and effort filming and editing a video and thinking it's your best work yet, and to get little to no views. Totally going through that right now and have to remind myself that no one cares, as long as I am having fun (or at least try to have fun).
All the best!
@@explorashen I’m glad you enjoyed it, thank you:) Keep having fun and don’t stop creating!
Yes! If we look on history innovation is thanks to community and that includes creativity!
Thanks for sharing your journey and the lessons you have learned along the way! I recently started a new UA-cam channel as well.
Thank you for the support! I’m excited to continue to share my journey:)
Subbed. Vibe back plz
It is hard and I was reminded today as I was looking to create some content and this was part of my script " if you don't enjoy the process or your reason isn't a strong enough then you're probably not going to make it."
That was meant for someone else to watch and take to heart.....but you video reminded me that it applies more to me than to anyone else.
Thank you for that insight.
Many blessings to you and your journey.
@@robertmileage The “why” is the most important part. UA-cam is not an easy journey but if you have a strong reason for doing it, you’ll continue to do it. Thank you for sharing your comment:)
Thanks for the message on perfection. It's okay not to be perfect. Done is better than obsessing over a video to make it perfect.
I’m glad you got some value from it! :)
Fellow small Chicago UA-camr here! This video was so wonderful and was a great reset for me during a current creative process! Thank you!
@@Scammdrew I’m glad you found value in my video. Thank you for watching and keep up the good work on your journey:)
And definitely, a great ideia to do The Box 2. Short films are awesome.
That was a tremendous, authentic video. Love it!
Appreciate your story and honesty. We are just putting out content and doing the best we can. It can be a grind but just keep going! Hope you hit 1k soon!
@@mustachesandcoffee Thank you! Consistency and grit are what it takes. I’ll get there:)
love this video girl! you inspired me to keep going as someone with only 149 subscribers
You've inspired me to continue doing the same.🌸
Honesty is powerful
I subscribed keep inspiring ✊
@@AbelDesigns-DIt definitely is. Thank you for your support:)
All of us newer and smaller channel creators find companionship with creators who share their experiences ..
but as you grow, find and finesse your content… your niche…
Oh and… 1% better with every step!
Came here by accident. Liked your delivery. Subscribed. Decided to create my first video this week. You inspired me.
Thank you! I’m glad I was able to help inspire you. Congratulations on your start!
It's really great for a new UA-camr like me to hear about others' experiences in the process. Thanks, I really enjoyed this video and subscribed ☺️
@@DomRosenberg Thank you! I appreciate the support:)
I uploaded my very first game play, I'll decide what to focus after a week base on result, whether I'll go with gaming or funny animals channel.😢
Such an awesome video to just hang out with! Keep it up! Looks like you doubled your subscribers since you published this! 🎉
Thanks for sharing! Totally relate and feel you, keep going! Honoured to be your 500th subscriber 💪🏼
Wow, thank you for the support! It means more than you know:)
Love the video. I just started mine 2 weeks ago and have a solid 5 subs rn lol.
You just got one more. Looking forward to watching the growth.
Ps. My main issue be forgetting to turn on my Audio mic every time on the first Go 😅
Hello, this video popped up on my feed. I actually watch the full thing. All I will say is this, things will get better.

ya i have the same reason with you and i really love travel, really want to connect with people in the world and share my story to them or hear their stories. But it's seem like youtube quite hard for me and i still looking for some people who also passion to do youtube to work with like a team. We can motivation each others or help each others, i don't know but if we just work alone is just so hard
Feeling similarly, glad to hear someone else is experiencing the process the same way

Great video! I can relate to this so well because I'm on the same path as you. I've just been making videos a little longer than you. You (we) are on the right path! Keep it up!

One of the wise words I’ve ever heard ❤
I love your video and that you are so honest! I have under 400 subscribers myself and know exactly what you’re talking about. The most important thing is that you enjoy what you’re doing. But of course, it’s tough when you’re not getting any views. Your video is great, I bet you'll reach 1000 followers soon! :) Following you now:)
I love your editing style! And as a small creator I can relate.
I love sharing my stories and my wonderful furr family ❤

GREAT freaking video. You reminded me I gotta appreciate what I made through my eyes & not from the results. My Mission Impossible video that I worked months on for my main channel? Ah well, didn't blow up. Still super proud of it

Great work and looking forward to seeing more 🥂
We’re all going through a similar journey. I just want to share my experience and hope to shine a little light on some creators. Thank you:)
Thanks for making this video. I needed to hear some of the things you said near the front. I relate to being an actor and then disliking the industry. I’m in that situation right now. Glad you’re still creating. Just subscribed.
