Heating Rod don’t reduce humidity. Heating rod raise the temperature so the gun is ABOVE the dew point so the humidity doesn’t condensate on gun n create rust . And as the temperature rise . The absolute humidity ( amount of water in the air ) stay the same . But the relative humidity ( amount of water the air hold at that temperature) decrease . That’s how heating rod work . Yes put the heating rod as low as possible .
I just use a DampRid bucket. No moisture in my gun cabinet. That heater thing kinda sounds like a complicated and insufficient solution to a simple problem

Just get yourself a bunch of beef jerky eat it all and throw those little do not eat packets in there lol
