    Awesome video! Worked like a charm! I just finished bypassing the timer on my Bass Pro turkey fryer thanks to this video. Now, I don’t have to deal with that annoying timer.

    Excellent video. Just picked one of these up and was shaking my head when I saw the timer. About to do some snippin'. Thanks!

    Thanks for doing this video! As with most things now, companies engineer everything for the clueless. frying a turkey and having to continually reach down and turn the timer again is a HUGE PITA. So much better now!

    Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! In my opinion it’s more UNSAFE to have to relight a flame under a hot burner with hot water or oil on top of it after the timer shuts it off, if you miscalculate the time before rewinding. It says 15 min on the timer housing, but it actually varies between 10 and 12 minutes. Great video!

    Thanks for the video, my parents bought this Willy nilly and didn't know about the 15 minute limit. They used to have one that was always on since a lot of stuff like stew can take a long time

    Thanks. I use this for Making Maple Syrup on my property in NY. I hated the timer last year...this year I have more time to drink IPA's while watching the boil - not the Clock!

    Nice! Thank you for the video. I just bought one of these and didn't realize there was a timer until I got it open. Not something anyone wants to deal with. I will definitely be bypassing mine. 👍

    What powers the wires in the timer? Is there a battery or something?

    • @2020HotShotTruckingLLC
      @2020HotShotTruckingLLC Рік тому

      It's a thermocouple. It generates 30 millivolts while in direct flame which energizes the solenoid coil in the gas valve. Other units use a thermopyle which is larger and has a bunch of thermocouples wired in series inside a larger sensor. They produce 600 - 750 millivolts for larger gas solenoid valves. Gas appliances use these as safety features and the signal can be wired thru timers, thermostats and high temperature limit switches.

    • @Hypobrew

      Depends on how the wiring for the timer is set up. I can’t imagine things being too different.

    Mine just never counted down lol. I use it to boil stuff and not fry.
    I don't care much but what the point to add a timer that doesn't even work on some.unit xD

    Would this work for my browning fryer?

    • @Hypobrew
      @Hypobrew  4 роки тому

      Not sure. I don’t know what a browning fryer is used for. I would certainly do some more research before (possibly) breaking a good burner.

  • @TonyQKing
    @TonyQKing 9 років тому +3

    Hmmnnn ... OK- how does the cut-off work? What is it? A solenoid? What powers it? I do not see a battery anywhere...

    • @Hypobrew
      @Hypobrew  9 років тому +1

      +Tony Q. King I think it's a simply on/off switch. When you wind up the timer it closes the switch. When it times out it opens the switch. There is no power to the timer. Honestly, I wasn't too concerned on how the timer worked I just wanted to bypass it so I didn't have to babysit it when I was making my beers.

    • @Hypobrew
      @Hypobrew  7 років тому

      It could be a solenoid .There are no batteries in the unit I picked up.

    Can you remove the regulator hose from the timer box to bypass all of the timer box? I don’t have enough wire inside the timer box to connect the two wires inside the timer box?
    Thanks in advance

    • @russhall4780
      @russhall4780 5 років тому

      I had this issue. Make sure the thermalcoupler is in far enough to reach the flame.

    • @kevinjohnson2248
      @kevinjohnson2248 4 роки тому +2

      You have to press down for about 15 to 20 seconds you may be releasing the button to soon

  • @jonbaird9096
    @jonbaird9096 6 років тому +4

    Why not just remove both devices completely so that you just light it and be done. I don't see the need for the thermocouple either

    • @LUISGONZALEZ-jy3wq
      @LUISGONZALEZ-jy3wq 5 років тому +1

      How do you remove the thermocouple ?

    • @2020HotShotTruckingLLC
      @2020HotShotTruckingLLC Рік тому +2

      The thermocouple provides a 30 millivolt signal to operate the gas solenoid valve so long as it is in direct flame. So if the burner flame is blown out or snuffed out by splashing, the gas valve will shut off to prevent an accumulation of gas.

    An easier way is to stick a wood shim behind the knob an wedge it tight enough to keep the knob from turning. You should NOT bypass timer for safety reasons.

    The timer is there to help prevent drunken idiots from burning down their houses. A safety devise should never be disabled, that's just a bad idea and bad advice. Also it is a thermocouple, not coupler. A coupler is something that joins two things together.
