RE: Flattened milk cartons. When that advice was written, milk cartons were made out of waxed cardboard. The wax acted as a lubricant and also was unlikely to leave a noticeable trace of residue on waxed floors.

I still have every DIY, “handy tips” books I’ve ever gotten-or that my parents ever had! One is my bible, as well.
When the electricity goes off, it’s pretty nice to have this kind of book around. When you google something, you can get overloaded with conflicting information-or just too much info.

@@reesecollins482 I think there are a couple of reasons why, in my eyes. Number 1 being it cost more than that little piece of hardware. Number 2, it's out of the way. Number 3, you don't have to move it this way or that way. Number 4, it's not a danger, like a doorstop.
I think any one of those 4 reasons is a good reason why not to use a doorstop.😉

i remember this hack from somewhere thats why i noticed (its also like what im about to tell u in the picture):
u r supposed to put the (not too thick) tape ontop of the screw: this way the screwdriver can more easily grip the gripable part of the screw (especially if the screw is already pretty used)

Volume II? Do the entire book, please! Our parents and grandparents and great grandparents generations lived through ugly wars, tough times and depressions and recessions that caused very lean lifestyles and their adaptations were made by necessity. As a result, they were some of the most resourceful, innovative and kickass people since creation and their ideas are still brilliant and absolutely useful!
Better yet, just send me the book lol
