they're doing OK. this sound is still popular in Russia and Eastern Europe and to an extent other parts of Europe, i think they play PRSPCT nights sometimes?? and definitely Therapy Sessions. if you mean why do they not have anywhere near the popularity of any interchangeable neurofunk producers then I totally agree. I think neuro is very bland compared to a more traditonal tech step dark dnb sound. Neuro to me has no edge and the production often sounds very flat. Take the lovely warm sub bass in Dom & Roland - Can't Punish Me. You don't hear that kinda bass in neurofunk. Everything changed when Noisia started releasing. To a lesser extent maybe Spor too tbh. Both have some sick tunes but other boring ones too, moreso Noisia as Spor grew up part of the Hardware crew. Phace and Wilkinson are both prime examples of maximum boredom neuro imo. They popularisd neuro and it was the new hotness and the young generation that's what they encounter, they have to know an older head or do history learning on youtube to see how lush tech step is. Also now our beloved tech step classics often have neuro remixes anyway lol!! I guess also there's the fact that the alternative to neuro these days is dark dnb veering into core and bass such as the sound PRSPCT have had huge success with. DnB influenced by more extreme genres like breakcore or gabba. Between that an neuro pure techy sounds got squeezed out. That stuff is cool tho. I think many of the best producers either ran out of ideas or moved to newer more popular sounds. Look at Ed Rush, he's producing but it doesn't hold a candle to old virus classics. BCUK also it's not like old Bad Company. Even changing production programs and effects prob had an impact. It's still possible to make that sound tho, Dom did it not long ago in his last album. Ppl like DJ Hidden and Current Value make great stuff still, altho again much of their output is quite extreme. Look to PRSPCT. I'm sure you know that tho.
also Counterstrike are from South Africa originally. a country with virtually no dnB scene whatsoever. so to come from there to have global success that's lasted like 15 years is very impressive! :)
