A few more notes to answer some recurring questions: - I'd recommend the black spring pads - part FL3Z-5586-B. I have had better luck with them than the white ones. If you use the black ones, install them without grease. Part number should be the same for 2015-2020 model years. - Most trucks just need 2 pads per side. The Heavy Duty Payload package needs 4 per side. That package was available on XL, XLT, and base Lariat trucks (depending on model year), but it was a very rare option.

I hear it at various speeds while driving and going over bumps and in curves. Maybe this is the cause. I hope that’s all it is. I will look into doing this seeing how easy it is. Just came from a 2007 all new to me picked up a 2017 how I can describe the noise is worn stabilizer links that are not there the same noise. My dealer that was my previous employer says there is two pads white or black is it advantageous to install all black pads or just go with the white in the back and black in the front as the OEM did.

I Raptor Swapped my '17 Lariat. Immediately after replacing the rear shocks I have a dull thump/clunk from the rear at low speeds, backing into my driveway. I cleaned and lubricated between the leafs and it went away for about a day so I bought these pads. But it didn't change anything. The sound is still there. maybe louder. I used black pads, no grease. Advice? My next step is lubricate just the shackles and to bounce it with the shocks disconnected. See if sounds go away or change.

I'd go with FL3Z-5586-B. They are the black pads and they've had better longevity than the white ones I've used in this video. As long as you have the standard payload package, you'd need four total pads.

My 2019 crew cab has has the dreadful creak. A month after having the truck, is when it started. Dealership said it was normal for the truck to make the sound. After trying to ignore it for a few months on, i power washed theeaf packs and sprayed some lube between them. Went away for a good while. Especially in the winter. Now as its gotten warmer, its back 👀. I installed my Bilstein 5100s today on the rear and then i just packed some high temp grease this time in there, and it went right away. I know this is temporary but dealers around me, because of covid still, have been out of stock on certain parts. But I do plan on getting some the next time around. I just used the method you showed when separating the leaf packs. It was way more helpful and simple, compared on how i was trying to get in there.

Correct - use the same part for both sides. Total quantity of 4 if you have the standard leaf pack (most trucks). 8 if you have the HD leaf pack (rare option).

I am fairly certain that 2015-2020 truck springs and pads are all the same. My understanding is sometimes Ford's part numbers will change due to a different supplier even if there's no actual change to the part.
I'm happy with them. They do impact the ride a bit since they are so close to contacting the axle even completely unloaded. I don't think it's harsh or anything, just a little more stiff than factory. I don't usually tow more than 6000 lbs. I have a small car hauler with a GVW of 6000 lbs and I tend to be in the 5500-6000 range with a vehicle or two tons of pellets on it. They handle that very well without a weight distribution hitch. They handle the weight of my ATV well too - which is probably a similar weight in the bed to what the tongue weight would be when towing 6k.
Also, springs are made out of hardened/ tempered steel and welding them will affect their spring qualities and micro cracks will start forming which will cause springs to fail around the weld area.
I just took mine to the dealer to trouble shoot the popping rear end noise. They said I need new leaf springs for $3100.00 I’m thinking new isolator pads may fix it? Thanks for the video. I’ve also heard some aftermarket pads may fix it from ATQ? Not sure if you’ve heard about this. BTW. Mine is at 38000 miles. I tow about 1/4 of those miles. The truck has made the noise for a long while, just gotten much worse recently.

Any idea why you don't need grease with the black one but you do with the white? I assume if I wanted to I could still use grease on the black ones?

What about the two on the bottom spring?
That's an overload spring, so it won't usually contact the other springs. You'd need to be carrying quite a bit of weight for that to be an issue.

If it's immediately after replacing the rear shocks, I'd bet your shock bolts aren't torqued enough.

No. I no longer have the truck, but that was the original driveshaft for my whole ownership.
Will the black ones fit a 2015 f150? On the ford site it says 17-20 but they look exactly the same

How do you like the black sumo springs
I'm happy with them. They do impact the ride a bit since they are so close to contacting the axle even completely unloaded. I don't think it's harsh or anything, just a little more stiff than factory. I don't usually tow more than 6000 lbs. I have a small car hauler with a GVW of 6000 lbs and I tend to be in the 5500-6000 range with a vehicle or two tons of pellets on it. They handle that very well without a weight distribution hitch. They handle the weight of my ATV well too - which is probably a similar weight in the bed to what the tongue weight would be when towing 6k.
