This video is long and I don't usually have time to watch long videos, but I finished this video as the value in here is unmatched. Thank You so very much for taking the time to make this very useful video. I WILL DEF BE WORKING THROUGH YOUR PLAYLIST 🙏🏻🥰🙏🏻
Hi Veruschka - thanks for your comment. I'm glad you found something useful here. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to cover. Stay tuned... 👍
If I understand you correctly, you're saying that a book cannot be #1 on Amazon with such a low review count? Actually, reviews are not as important as many self-publishers think, provided that the book has another source of social proof, such as the author's reputation or social media presence. Almost every week I can find a book in the top 100 that has zero reviews. I've also personally had a book at #117 BSR with only 8 reviews. All I'm saying is to take all the rules with a grain of salt, they're being broken all the time by books that are simply highly attractive to the market.
Thank you Dorian! My favorite musical scale mode... this is probably the most important KDP lecture I've watched in 3 years of trying, have to subscribe. More nuggets please
@@SelfPublishingYes this was an excellent question about advertising. I’ve heard some people say it is very difficult to make a profit in any KDP books without proper advertising. I know many people advertise organically using social media which is not something I would prefer. From a business perspective, I would rather understand how to most efficiently and cost effectively pay for the best advertising that would turn in a book into profits. I hope you can produce something like this soon
@@ksoonsoon I will cover advertising soon. It's more direct, and therefore simpler, on Amazon than off. But Amazon advertising costs have steadily gone up and it is becoming more competitive. Advertising helps organic sales on Amazon, and the ROAS (return on advertising spend) can still be quite good, especially compared to many other business models. I'll cover that in an upcoming video. Thanks for your comment.
Very eloquently stated -You provide truly valuable information! You’re a hidden gem! And soon to blow-up to 100k + subscribers! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!! New Subbie here! I look forward to your videos!
Thank you, I truly appreciate the compliment. If I get to 100k subs then that's ok, but it's not my goal. We'll all probably be replaced by AI before then :) Let me know if there's a topic you'd like me to cover, I have a lot of videos planned for the upcoming weeks
How important is using book bolt to try to figure out what niche is most profitable and therefore what type of book you should produce? Are there any other better tools or less expensive tools or is that just the best one?
Hey, thanks for the question. The only software I use for niche research is ds amazon quickview, which is a free chrome extension. Sometimes I use Helium10 to check on a competitor's advertising, but that's rare. The best way to do niche research is directly on amazon in a private browser. Get to know your market, find ways to make something different but not too different. Software cannot give you the market insights you own brain can.
@@SelfPublishing Hi Dorian, I've actually never had a reply from a UA-camr before, so this is a first. You asked what is my biggest KDP challenge right now? I'm a newbie, so where do I start? Reviews. Visibility. Standing out from the competition. I am a trad published author pivoting to self-publishing. I never knew I could have SO much fun! But also didn't realise how many moving parts there were. Your video was excellent! Checking out your website now.
@@nikkigoldstein827 well, this is the first time I'm doing the UA-cam thing, so we're even. Reviews are easier now than they used to be, I'll cover them in another video. Visibility and standing out are the big ones. Welcome to self publishing :)
@@SelfPublishing At the moment I am throwing sh*t at the wall to see what sticks. Trying a lot of review methods and building that crucial email list. From a standing start things are going pretty well, my book is selling, though not in big numbers. I had a look at your coaching funnel, and it's on my wish list. I'll look forward to more videos. Fantastic to connect. Are you on Facebook or any other social media? I will follow.

I published 2 books with little knowledge, after watching this professional player's game I found how to play.... thanks
thanks for the comment. Keep publishing, learn from others, get good at the game and you'll make a profit.
At 43 reviews those numbers have to be way off. Whcih is what I have found with amazon tracking numners in the dash and ad dash.
