I had that in civ Revolution, I just ended up conducting a military buildup on the border on the road. Then I conducted a special military operation to stop the flow of tanks from the offending city. 😂
I wonder if there's a mod which fixes that, i always stop playing this glorious game when i reach endgame because it is always 5 minutes of animations between turns and like 1 second of management
The way I look at it you are never going to win when you're outnumbered 7 to 1 or worse. If your unit takes out six enemies, I see it as doing as well as could possibly be hoped for.
Yep, that's a classic civ3 moment, I had a similiar moment when my crusader lost to a normal barbarian warrior, but there was like 15 warriors stacked on one another.
In civ 3 my warrior was on top of a mountain on CHIEFTAIN difficulty and lost to a barbarian warrior attacking. The barbarian warrior didn't even take damage
still the best combat units stack, can only bombard with siege, ships and modern units, land bombing is not lethal, all fights are to the death, only a faster unit has a chance to retreat, no stacking promotions, cities are cities and not bombarding castles with hp, armies, you have to use actual ships to transport (although i must admit ai is bad with naval invasions) i've been playing unciv(civ 5 clone for android) and i'm shocked how they thought the combat changes in civ 4 and later were an "improvement"
This is very relatable, barbarians are just annoying ash, you think its just one unit but its a whole horde of units, man you're just stuck in a loading screen.
All too many times have I had something like a guerilla lose an attack against spearmen and other early defenders or get down to their last hit point then turn around and survive

In civ 4 i have lost a battle 3 times that was 99.9% chance to win

Pretty accurate feeling, but still not as bad as watching a phalanx take out 8 battleships while sitting in a mountain fort.
