As someone who is also latina american I can say it’s very hard to translate things into spanish since English is my dominant language. We think things in English and try to make them come out in Spanish. So I get why she’s saying, “You know?” so much. She’s nervously saying, “I’m so self conscious of my Spanish but you know what I’m trying to say, right?”

I don’t know if anybody’s going to actually read this or care at all but here we go. Growing up in America as a first generation Latino (Guatemalan) was a difficult challenge. I remember growing up as a kid with social and cultural struggles in and out of school but especially in school. I learned young America would be a tough challenge for people like me. But seeing a young, brave, talented and proud latin woman like Camila Cabello gives me so much hope and faith in so many aspects of life. I’ve been into performing arts as a child music especially being a big part of my life! She’s right, it’s about a feeling, it moves you! I’ve been writing songs since I was about 14. I have no idea what life has in store for me, but I know that I’m a hopeless romantic and oh my god can just say that I can only dream of having a wife like Camila! Long live Latinos no matter where your from!

Mientras habla voy adaptando las cosas que realmente quiere decir en español, porque es verdad, claro que le cuesta expresarse en este idioma, pues no lo habla todo el tiempo. Ella maneja todo en ingles y se relaciona con personas que hablan en ingles y demás. Cuantos diálogos puede tener con sus padres en español? muy pocos y tal vez sean de cosas sencillas. Es como todo aquel que quiera aprender un nuevo idioma, si no es algo que practique diariamente y está en un lugar donde se vea obligado a hablar el idioma todo el tiempo, eventualmente puede que lo olvide un poco o por completo.

Los españoles no son latinos en el sentido que los estadounidenses lo entienden. Son latinos porque hablan español, una lengua que procede del latín al igual que el francés, italiano, portugués, rumano....pero no en la óptica que los americanos lo conciben.
pero es que a los yanquis les pueden dar bien por el culo, no te jode, van a dictar ellos ahora lo que es un latino, los bárbaros, faltaría más.
Es que no es sólo el idioma: las instituciones, la cultura y el Derecho de España son de tradición romana. Es un país puramente latino. Sólo faltaba que la (in)cultura estadounidense fuese la que definiese lo que los demás pueblos son.
